    Great job with the video and look forward to the rest. I am headed to MT in 3 weeks so maybe I can get a decent video from the trip. I hurt for you when you switched to the auto and it failed to cycle on the first covey rise. I noticed something that i noticed the other day in one of my dove videos when the gun failed to shoot. I jerked more than I would like to think I would when I pulled the trigger.

    • @UplanderLifestyle

      Good luck hunting and safe travels out there! I had just cleaned the gun and that was the first shot through it 🤦‍♂️
      Shotguns have pretty heavy trigger pulls, 8-10lbs. I believe that's where the jerk comes from. Good luck the rest of the season!

    Just curious ....how do you preserve your harvested birds on an extended hunt?

    • @UplanderLifestyle
      @UplanderLifestyle  Год назад +4

      I try and eat a fair amount of them as we go, starting with the oldest. I keep them in a yeti cooler with ice, and they will last several weeks if stored properly. If a bird was gut shot it gets ate sooner than later, this way I’m only keeping the birds that did not have their meat contact gut matter stored for an extended period of time. I don’t rinse the birds after cleaning, water breeds bacteria growth. And I double bag them in freezer bags so they don’t puncture and absorb water from the cooler and don’t leak out blood into the cooler. I’ve stored birds close to 4 weeks doing this.

      Thank you! All 3 of my dogs are Brittanys, as well. American Brittanys. I don't always shoot because I want the dog to point the bird, and with a couple of my younger dogs it would be easy for them to come unglued and stop pointing if I just started shooting at whatever birds were flying.
