- On November 9, Maj Moshe Yedidya Leiter, a commander in the IDF's special forces was killed in Gaza along with three of his men when they discovered an opening to a Hamas tunnel that was booby-trapped. Caroline's guest this week was her old friend, colleague, political commentator and Moshe's Father Yechiel Leiter, Yechiel discussed his son's life, and his loss and he placed both in the context of the larger war for Israel's survival and the role of the Jewish state as the first line in the war for human freedom.

What a wonderful man. He is amazing. He son must have been amazing too. When he talked about his son squeezing cheek and saying everything is going to be okay just broke my heart. I am still crying from that. Then the friend saying what he did. I pray to God his sons death is not in vain. This has to be done. It amazing that the PM is so involved with the people. People can say what they want about him and I don’t know because I’m American but I’d take Bibi over Biden anyway of the week. I am praying for this man and his son and his family and everyone directly affected by this specific loss. Jewish people just seem so close to their children even when they are older and it sounds so beautiful. Also like y’all have just have a different way of seeing things more clearly. I guess because of always having to fight so hard just to live it makes you a deeper person. I don’t understand why it seems like people love to hate the Jewish. I hate that it feels like that. I am Christian, but I dated a Jewish boy and that was in the 90’s and got a lot of hate and I was shocked then and even more so now. I pray something changes for the better.
Of course his son's death was in vain. Israeli leaders always end up kow towing to the USAs demands. My father fought both in the 6th day war and yom kippur war. They won the Sinai only to have Moshe DAYAN or begin give it back. U

I can’t imagine what is wrong with these people in the US especially acting so awful and saying terrible things. It’s seems to me they are just victim blaming. I don’t know how anyone who has a shred of humanity could look past what was done on Oct 7th and blame Israel. Or what they expect Israel to do after those atrocities. I know it goes back farther than Oct 7 but that was so bad and I heard the guy from Hamas say they would do it again a million times. I can see why you would be very frustrated. Have heard and watched you conduct many interviews. But, Caroline, this was one of those " hit out of the park" interviews. Since late eve Oct 6 on East Coast USA hearing & reading alerts I can cry and breathe.

An IDF soldier by nature is an occupier. If the son had an ounce of integrity, he would refused military service and gone to prison. As an occupier, and oppressor, he got what was his due.

RIP to Major Leiter. My brother died the same week (USA, not this war). As sad as it is, I'm glad they'll have each other in line together for the next life. He also had a large family of six and would probably have similar stories. Prayers for the lost soldiers and Jewish people in this conflict. I pray that there's a plan to all of this.

Your country must become fully independent from USA , until then you.ll not be a real country. No country has the right to dictate you how to behave in front of a threat of this magnitude.

My condolences to all in Israel who have lost loved ones. Husbands, wives, children, mothers, fathers. I lost my husband 4 years ago and i still battle with it today. In strategic government business, it should always be cost 🆚 benefit calculation. We all know that there is a cost. But, someone needs to explain the benefit. October 7th shouldn't, couldn't, wouldn't have happened. If Gaza was hemmed with a beefy trench and/or a minefield, an overland incursion into Israel would have been all but impossible. That's the way going forward, if you don't want to incur a cost.

Yeah, I truly wonder what reasonable solution there might be and how much protection the international community will allow Israel to implement. All areas under palestinian control are essentially Isis in regards to the safety for jews and really just a burka away from being Isis to its own people. Except that Isis was dealt with, while the extremists retroactively titled palestinians have been allowed to marinate in their radicalization over several generations and Israel has been internationally forced into an utterly absurd appeasement of people who never even hid their genocidal ambitions.
