    Awesome build! Be careful with those Chins batteries in winter; last I checked, they do not have low temp charging shut-off, so charging during freezes will permanently damage the cells.

    This is perfect for the cybertruck off road adventures. Maybe stack up a roll out accordian like array that packs in about 6 to 10kw more to keep that off roading fun going. I watched a video of a bunch of off roaders taking a cybertruck out and they had to turn around and go home due to lack of charging infrastructure. 😐

    This is great! I'd love to make a little solar trailer for my VW electric conversion. Base the whole trailer off of a full Model 3 or, better yet, Model S/X battery. Very inspiring, thank you!!

    Very cool! What ever happened to Route Del Sol? I wanted to reach out and swap stories sometime. My solar trip from NYC to LA went well but not as well as I planned :)

      He's a papa now, living in the east coast. I think his van is in storage, not sure what his plans for it are.

      While I agree, they probably bought these used for 15 cents a watt vs 1.00/watt

    So is this how is that calculation working out?
    The Rivian R1T has an efficiency rating of 2.22 miles per kW.
    310 Watts * 10 panels = 3100 Watts, or 3.1kW
    3100 * 80-85% = 2480 Watts @ 80% / 2635 Watts @ 85%
    2.6kW * 8 hours = 20.8 kW
    20.8 kW * 2.22 m/kW = 46.176 miles
    The Rivian R1T has a 288 kWh battery, assuming we ignore efficiency losses let's look at that at face value.
    288 kWh / 20.8 kW = 13.84 days to recharge the Rivian R1T to full
    That's actually pretty impressive. There's no reason that you couldn't plan a trip around that.

      Rivian R1T battery is 105, 135 or 149 kWh Li-ion pack.

      @@js71378Oddly enough, just googling the term "Rivian R1T battery size" says that the 2024 model will be 288 kWh. So maybe that's incorrect. I just went with the first result that popped up.
