I love these videos. I've watched the one for the Brown line many times. You can see the building where I used to live just after you leave the Francisco station heading south. God, I'm homesick!
mathew carter It's a long ride dude! But hey! I pay Pace Bus $1.75, and I get on Red Line for 25 Cents transfer! I can go to Evanston Illinois for free transfer! What does 2 dollars can get you to from Calumet City to Evanston?
I have watched all your videos very nice I feel like could the CTA with no problem. Great music in all the videos is there any way you can tell me where I could find the music tracks you used.I love it great work.
Why is Chicago different from New York, Toronto, Paris where there are usually hi-rise condos. or apts. near rapid transit stations. But in Chicago, once you get out beyond a certain point all I can see are low density buildings?
This was cool. I've ridden this line, but not that far out to either end. The south end of the trip was a bit bleak, riding between the two lanes of highway--doesn't seem the most intelligent place to put a train line, as train lines and highways tend to favor very different sorts of development (walking-oriented vs. car-oriented).
+Jared Keller , yeah, my sister and I visited Chicago in 2007 as tourists. We wanted to see the science museum, which is on the Green Line in the southside Chicago. Lots of poverty, lots and lots and lots of vacant buildings like in Detroit. On the way back we took the commuter train back downtown.
This was a great video. After reading the comments, here are my comments, some about the comments: 1) The Music worked for this Red Line Video. The music especially compliment the tunnel light effects when going thru the subway portion of the line. I hope the future series of CTA EL line videos uses different musical genres with local musical talent. 2) BLUE JELLY BEAN, This video had to have been low cost to make. Just set up a camera, no real editing, add the soundtrack and then post it. I would think this was an intern that did this. 3) starklassik. I can agree with a hyperlapse video, in the future use two camera to create to videos, if it does not get in the way of the operator. 4) Graeginator I rode all the EL trains in one day!. 5) Recommend filming on the weekend with not track workers. 6) quartzy The "engineer" finished wiping his ass and went back to work. I look forward to :see the other lines' videos. Cheers
I forgot 7) What's up with the water between the trails between Chicago and Lake as the train passes under the Chicago River? I think some chemical grouting will help to save on your electric bills and wear/tear/maintenance of the dewatering sump pumps.
Agreed, the aggressive compression makes parts of the video (especially the beginning at Howard) very blocky. You can have the highest resolution, but if the bitrate isn't sufficiently high it will still look like crap. =/
Jason Steele if it wasn't the codec you wouldn't see blocking artifacts around the stop names and cta logo. I just want to see the much higher quality version. The low light tunnel shots look great
From the view of the operator? How about cta does another video showing what it's like being a rider on this shit line? I ride this train literally everyday on the way to work anywhere from 3am to 1pm and it's literally a cesspool on rails. Surrounded by homeless people who literally harass you for anything from a quarter to a cigarette to whatever they can think of. Bed bugs on cars that you bring home then get the fun of getting rid of so bad I saw them crawling all over a homeless person. Crimes such as robbery, stabbings, and even murder and rape are commonplace and nothing is done. Smells terrible like human feces and garbage. Even saw a car with human shit smeared over every inch of the car. Chicago is disgusting not the city I used to love. Can't wait to get enough money to leave and never come back.
Metra NEEDS to do this. This is why CTA is amazing and Metra sucks. Another reason is that CTA is FAST with their trains, while Metra is SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW as CRAP!
Went too fast--,missed all the miles of graffiti that Chicago is famous for, plus the bums and beggars in the subway. and missed all the pickpockets and sundry sellers on the train.
Brush off the haters, cta. The video and music are awesome. There's a reason even a transit video has 25,000+ views in a week.
The only reason I'm a hater is because they haven't done the Purple Line Express yet.
I love these videos. I've watched the one for the Brown line many times. You can see the building where I used to live just after you leave the Francisco station heading south. God, I'm homesick!
Nice boost of nostalgia for a route I miss...could have been standing at the Sox/35th platform on this day. Thank you CTA!
Chicago will always be my home!!!!
This is great. More lines please!
cool... reminds me of when I would ride the Red Line in MA (the 'MBTA' Braintree or Quincy into Boston)
thanks for posting
MBTA = Much Better To Amble
Can't wait to see the brown line. :)
I did rode the entire Red Line from Howard to 95th / Dan Ryan! It took 1 hour and 12 minutes!
Cool beans

Imagine the Red Line Actually Going That Fast!
Order CTA Bullet Trains Now!
Bullet trains won't work as urban rapid transit. There are way too many stops. They work better as intercity express trains, though.
I'll make me train sick
Bullet trains work where there is less frequent stops.
Eager to see Pink, Brown, Green & Purple lines, too.
U mean orange?
Never start a video with 1 minutes of words only. Its video - not a sheet of paper!
Cta stations are fantastic
+Nija Hassan , yeah, I like how they're more lit up than in other cities.
Remember this train ride used to work on belmont.
5:23
Washington (Closed in 2006)
You guys should do this one again, now that there's the new Wilson station and the new 95th street station. That would be a grand finale.
Actually no, wait until CTA finishes the Red-Purple Bypass and the Lawrence-Bryn Mawr Modernization. That's a newer one.
They released the new 95th street version
Best music i heard
I have watched all your videos very nice I feel like could the CTA with no problem. Great music in all the videos is there any way you can tell me where I could find the music tracks you used.I love it great work.
Very nice!
It is awesome.
Love it but the compression ruins HD! I'd love to see this at full quality!
1:35 What happens to the engineer you see out there?
Really appreciate this. Wish it could have included the actual train environment sounds instead of music.
I love the music on that.
Lets see a Blue Line one!
Thats on big station you guys in Chicago have!
Wish Seattle would get a subway.
Why is Chicago different from New York, Toronto, Paris where there are usually hi-rise condos. or apts. near rapid transit stations. But in Chicago, once you get out beyond a certain point all I can see are low density buildings?
7:04 here's my local stop! gotta get off and go to hyde park!

Outside of the Loop, a good portion of the Blue Line does run inside or alongside freeways.
+Jared Keller , yeah, my sister and I visited Chicago in 2007 as tourists.

I've been as south as Sox-35th, although I've been as north all the way to Howard.
Interesting thanks
this seem cool
Grandville to belmont was my ride to work at ?????
Yeah it's cool
If only the "L" really did move at 350 mph like it does in the video (though that would make things dicey up on the Loop...)
Should have used hyperlapse for these.
that would be ridiculously amazing
Make a purple line express
WiredGuy123 WiredKid my father and stepmother stayed on Sedgwick back in the day know that kemble train real well.
WiredGuy123 WiredKid Hey It’s Been 2 Years But They Finally Made It!

Actually, the weekend is when it is most likely to have people working on the tracks.
Hey guys, I love the idea but the quality is still poo. Can we get 1080p 60fps with a much higher bitrate, the artifacts are horrible!
I did. Its the bitrate / codec not the resolution.

+Andrew Boudreau , my issue is that it runs too fast.
+jaworskij hopefully they are working on 360 HD by now codec issues aside
Washington is closed
who`s here in 2024?
This is 5000 seris cars i just know I JUST KNOW
I'd prefer real time sound with stop announcements rather than canned music.
highfield333 r
I like dis music :)
I call fake on this one. Where are all the frantic riders trying to catch the train after tapping their #ventra card a dozen times at rush hour?
The music is horribly wrong for this subject. Otherwise cool effort. I'd do it with leaves on the trees. Also to be no people waiting..
I'd prefer real time speed.
Don't worry the also have full time videos

that's ur OPINION
That's ur OPINION
Plus ur crap
This music was terrible, is Chicago trying to relive Europe in the '90's?
thought the same - hello 1998 trance nation
+Ian Maynard The music was perfect for a time-lapse.
IT'S JUST UR OPINION
what's with all the guys standing around in safety vests not doing anything? glad it's not my tax money paying their salary
+rss2105 Because for safety reasons they can't do anything when a train passes, they can only do work in between trains passing
+rss2105
Yeah, that's how it is with the High Speed Line between Lindenwold (NJ) and Center City Philly. It's also like that with SEPTA.
+NEC Railfan , kind of.
Went too fast--,missed all the miles of graffiti that Chicago is famous for, plus the bums and beggars in the subway. and missed all the pickpockets and sundry sellers on the train.
a terrible song
cta
