It is not the same things. Swing is changing timing of notes. Groove is more wide task. It can deal with timing, like swing. But it can deal, for example, only with velocity of notes. So,in this example-groove is changed, but timing remain intact...
Cool, but the groove option can move the notes forward or backward? How move notes about few miliseconds in ableton live clip? I think about setting diffrent timing of one clip to another.
I really don't know but it's a fundamental (poor choice of word when speaking about music) part of music so I would have thought this will exist in all versions.
@@tdcattech Shockingly enough (as you stated it's a pretty fundamental part of music making) it only seems to be in Standard or Suite, as I have Intro right now and there is no groove pool nor any way I can find to add swing rather than just manually dragging notes around myself. Pretty silly if you ask me but I knew I would have to upgrade eventually, Intro is very limited!
@@danegerzone4889 there is no "groove pool" in live lite but you can click the arrows next to where it says groove (lower left under clip) you can then drag any grove into where it currently says "none" then click "commit" and that should do it👍🏼
👍🏻 Not sure you can do it wrong. Technically there are rules to music but there’s no rule that says you can’t break them. If it sounds good to you, job done!
yes but loaded samples are warped by default anyway. Sadowick has done a video on this search "How I Accurately Extract Groove & Swing From Anything In Ableton Live"
This is super helpful but I can't seem to understand why the hell there is no simple, global swing, even in 2021. Maschine has had it for many years. MPC, especially the new software... super easy. FL Studio-- no problem. Ableton, which is heavily geared toward electronic music production.... no easy global swing percentage. It makes no sense, and should have been added to version 7, let alone 11.
Very helpful, thank you! Glad you clarified how it only affects the 2nd, 4th, 6th and 8th beats. That clarifies a lot.
Super clear instruction and swing explanation. Thanks!
What an excellent explanation of groove and swing. Thank you for uploading this. It has been most helpful
Great video! Exactly what I was looking for. ThHank you.
Clearer the Ableton's video itself. Thanks man.
Would love to see a ghost image of the changes being made, or a button that let's you see the shift before you commit.

i never knew what the hell that groove pool was for before watching this lmao. and i've been on ableton 9 for a while now.
This software is so immensely cool and powerful that it makes me feel sick.
With ya Brother. :)
lol, i found u jajaja, are u still streaming?
Thats why i switched to Live wnd never looked back 🤌
You are awesome! Thanks for this clear tutorial. Very helpful
Excellent video, very helpful, thanks!!
Fantastic tutorial, thank you!
Thanks for the video. Great zooming/ez to follow your mouse pointer etc. I'm in the latest version & it's pretty much the same
What a great tutorial - thank you so much!! I have one question though: what's the difference between groove and swing?
Same thing. Just a different name. Thanks for the feedback!
@@tdcattech Good to know, thank you for responding!!

such a great tutorial. thank you
This is just an amazing video!!! Thank you very much!
Hi, nice and clean explanation, thank you very much 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you so much for this! Really helpful :)
Simple and efficient ! Thanks !

"First of all: for the people who just want to know how to apply it" We found him. The best channel on youtube.
Great video! I wanted to ask how to know which groove to set to your track? By luck, random or is there a real way to decide? Thanks!
the best way to know is to learn and try everyhing , and you'll start to catch things
Great tips🙏
Thanks man , very useful
Great vid, man!!
some grooves say "swing 8-45.agr" some say "swing 8-75.agr"ect. My question is what does the 45.agr & 75.agr stand for?
Those are the percentage of the swing's imperfection/shuffle 8-45%, 8-75% but search for MPC or SP-1200 swings they are legendary
Great tutorial. Thanks!
very useful, thanx
Thank you so much!
can you help me? i have to click on commit to apply the groove or not?
where did you get those swings from? great video btw thank you!
Very well explained. Subscribed.
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing!
it's things like this that made me want to switch to ableton.
wtf how... This is the stuff that made me switch daws. Ableton is extremely clunky
@@hermus9796 only if you run it on a piece of chit ... I run Ableton 10 on my 2008 Mac Pro with no clunkiness at all..
Thank you!!

try the quantize settings in the core library
Does this function work in any version of Ableton Live? Or does it just work in Ableton Live 10 Suite Edition?

What I don't get is all the different versions like 8-25 , 8-35 etc... If I open them in the groove pool they all look the same? What am I missing?
when i right click, i don't see "browse groove library," and i actually dont see anything at all. is there a setting to change this?
@ 00:49 you right click in the Groove Pool to go Browse Groove library - this doesn't work for me. Hav they removed this function?
great job
I’ve been producing wrong for the last 10 months (only producing for 10 months lmao) thanks so much !!!

Hey, Can we find something like that in FL studio? Please
Thanks!
it's possible create a event (automation)whit quantization and groove?????
❤❤❤❤
This doesn't seem to have any effect on my MIDI clips..?
🙌🏼
thx!
Can anybody tell me if it's a pre-requisite to have my audio tracks warped with the correct bpm in order to extract the groove into a groove preset?
yes but loaded samples are warped by default anyway. Sadowick has done a video on this search "How I Accurately Extract Groove & Swing From Anything In Ableton Live"
Well I figured out my issue. I didn’t seem to have any grooves downloaded
