Nice list! Only two issues of note that I would think are missing: Batman Shadow of the Bat 83, which is the 1st Huntress as Batgirl. I list that one simply because she still appears in new issues, so still relevant (admittedly not movie-related spec). Also, I'm a big fan of Batgirl (New 52) issue 40, Purple Rain homage cover. I know that's a cover lover book and not a spec otherwise, but that image is awesome. An instant key IMO.

Thanks for coming by! And yes, agreed on both counts... I’d considered Huntress’ turn as Batgirl but ultimately went with Stephanie Brown instead. Time will tell which - if either - ever gets utilized. And as for the Purple Rain homage, YES. I love that cover as well, but if it came down to covers for inclusion this list would’ve been at least a Top 20, lol!

@@CarlosCollectsComics I have to agree if we’re talking books that get utilized. I mean, you can’t introduce Huntress as Batgirl in film if Huntress herself is unknown in film. Stephanie was the way to go. I think I get caught up in comic spec vs. movie spec, and typically go for comic spec.
As for the Purple Rain homage, I think it’s a wonderful book to own in general, whether a Batgirl top 10 or not. DC killed it on that one. A gorgeous book, and that motorcycle…sweet!

Great video! Definitely going to add a few of those to my collection: some of them just look fun to read. I do wonder if the first issue of Batgirl in Burnside will ever be an inspiration for a future movie or television show? Especially since the modern update to her costume is in that run!

Thanks for watching! Yes, I definitely hope some of the Rebirth run gets incorporated into the new franchise and I’d considered including the debut of her current costume on the list but ultimately decided it was still new enough that I wanted to see how much more it gets utilized.

Hi! I'm French and I just discovered your video because I was looking for comics I could read to know more about Batgirl as Barbara. I already have Year One which I loved! And I saw some articles about the New 52 ones by Gail Simone but it seems pretty dark, I'm not sure I'm ready for psychological torture x') But you talked here specifically about the 4th and 5th volumes, would you say they can be read without the others? I feel stupid asking this... Maybe it's not that hard and I can try all of them but as a very sensitive person I try to avoid too extreme psychological violence. Thank you for your video and everything! Have a nice day :D

Hey Alizee! Thanks for tuning in! I’m glad you’re looking into Batgirl/Barbara Gordon, she’s a great character. Yes, the different volumes are independent of one another, featuring a different take on the same character and - technically - a different Barbara Gordon. I would suggest starting with Volume 5 since there’s more issues and it’s a lighter, brighter feel. Volume 4 is the Gail Simone title and yes, it’s a bit darker and delves into her past trauma. I hope this helps!
