It’s easy to see why she’s beautiful even in her seventies. She’s a rarity. Everything about her is so alluring.
Impressive !!!! went on to getting greater and greater as ageing !! a rarity as you say !!! I did discover her in “ Caligula “ but that is a very small fraction of her magnitude !!!
I don't think she was beautiful in 1979.
She has the most lovely tone to her voice. Not just the accent. Just in general. Could listen to her talk all day. Brilliant actress and extraordinarily beautiful women inside and out.
I could listen to her voice all day...
And night.....!!!
And now I realize that I would fall for Helen at any age.
She has a brilliant intellect. Highly creative and very entertaining and innovative in her thought processes.
Such a respectful interviewer with a gift of gentle encouragement.
Mavis Nicholson was a marvellous interviewer. She had genuine interest in her guests, a knack of putting them at ease resulting in them divulging information of a very personal nature.
Compare this interview with the horrendous Michael Parkinson one!
She was like a friendly Welsh aunt with whom one could confide in.
Her excellent journalistic skills helped produce some amazing interviews.
Some claim her "talk" with David Bowie is his best interview.
She was much liked by her interviewees, Elvis Costello confessed to having a crush on her 😁.
His very first interview was with her.
Her interview with Elizabeth Taylor is particularly revealing.
She was deprived a prime time TV slot, perhaps too intellectual for mainstream viewing.😉
Ms Mirren has stated how much she enjoyed this interview and it shows in her relaxed manner and her willingness to relay such intimate information.🌟
I agree 👍 she was a brilliant interviewer, lovely, kind lady.
She’s just so fabulous in every way.
“Has it ever struck you that life is all memory, except for the one present moment that goes by you so quick you hardly catch it going?”― Tennessee Williams
It is true that we are our memories. That is where our thoughts are pulled from. So make them good ones.😁
1:02 Pessoa once wrote that the only thing that makes an artist actually genius is the ability to transform the merely individual and personal (parochial) into an universal work that speaks directly to the human spirit in any culture, tradition, bias, time and space. This woman is a goddess.
WOW WOW WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111
From a mad keen 76yo Aussie fan.
GOD--Helen is so,so,BLOODY GORGEOUS & what an intelligent lady & on one of the supreme actors,of all time.
Great interview.........
Very enlightening. My late husband was an orchestra conductor, playwright, poet, oboist, pianist, and a teacher. He was raised in Southend-On-Sea. He always wanted to be traveling around.
Such an amazingly beautiful woman. Still is.
She is more stunning now then ever.
absolute stunner. natural beauty.
@@randothol9003 yes unbelievable she went getting better very rare case !!!!
@@Kassiusday I would ride her like a stolen bike
Bloody gorgeous lady, very intelligent and intriguing......love her voice.
Gary Lee It's not her voice IT's the accent. There is a difference.
But not all British women's voices are the same, or sexy either! Same with the men, if you like men, lol! Just like any other accent, the voice does matter too!
Brooke Hanley Yes, it is partially her accent, but it is the tone of her voice that is even more appealing.
@@nygrrl99 I agree! She has a sultry soothing tone to her voice. She'd make a great story teller!
@@nikkicat254 yes you are 100 % right her voice is phenomenal is that which add a extra dimension : tons of beautiful out there but they don’t have that kind of voice ( velvet .& sweet chic & respectful ton ) as soon as she speaks you know that you are hearing a smart human being ...
I just love Dame Helen Mirren.
Read "In The Frame", and I never stopped being intrigued by her.
Beauty and brains always impresses me...
❤️
That's right, I agree (5:43)! what makes Shakespeare's compositions so great is that their scope is universal, they can identify with someone in Japan, Brazil, Sudan, etc!
What a beautiful young, soft voice she had!
Mavis Nicholson welsh lady 1930----2022....R.I.P..🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Helen, beautiful forever, yet in actuality, and I love her....
How nice to have no audience in the studio. I was at school obviously when Afternoon Plus was on. My sister who was on the dole watched it and loved it. Not difficult to see why.
What a stunner!
Wow, I have been a big fan of Helen Mirren for many years now, but had never seen her when she was young, now I love her even more! She was so lovely, even back then, and cute and beautiful too! She still is too, lol!
How can she looks so good even now?
She's so beautiful....
Helen has always been so beautiful :)
that voice... ♥
That's how you interview people two beautiful people
Gorgeous lady.
Mavis is like a friendly psychiatrist. Good interview. I like Mirren's composure and precision of thought.
Mavis is the best interviewer I've ever seen
Wow Helen in her early 30s she is still fit now in her 70s
A star was born
Very attractive and interesting young lady and well spoken. Amazing likeness to Priness Di who came later of course. Mavis best UK presenter ever.
The great Mavis Nicholson from Neath. Great writer and broadcaster. Ahead of her time.
So great! Thanks!
Far far better than the creepy Parkinson interview, totally different person back then, I love it anyone talks so precisely, intelligence and beauty, the perfect combination !
Mavis Nicholson was the best interviewer ever. Put people at east and asked very good serious questions.
Very true!
These were the days of proper quality ITV daytime with likeable, inteligent and relatable presenters.
you can keep your average, mass-produced bombshell, I'd rather have an easygoing, charming, real woman as ms. Mirren any time. take notes ladies, not all men are terrified by a smart woman with an fascinating personality
Thank you for this upload....
she is talented sexy woman even in her 70's
Georgeous skin. Gorgeous Helen. Good Grief!
November 1979, I was four months old then, my god. She was 34 at the time if my math is correct.
I see Princess Diana in her.
What does make you think it?
Helen Mirren is the perfect actress, so guileless, seemingly lacking ego but in full control and self-aware. Her voice has always been soft, almost girly but with a mature edge when required and an overt but strangely a well disguised intelligence and sexual power. She is everyman's fantasy and time has not diminished this allure in any way, but somehow made these attributes even more so.
She sounds so much like Princess Diana when young.
What a striking women.
Liam must still absolutely adore this lady. I would ❤
I love Hellen
Right at the end she mentions Jim Capaldi. I used to know him a little, he was the drummer in Traffic. I had no idea that he knew Helen. Lucky man!
She has always struck me as a woman searching for her identity.
Mavis has her femininity and sex appeal (not only Helen) and both women know it.
I liked that she used to do a bit more pauses in her answers than now, kind of giving an air of wisdom. Ironically now it evens looks as if she wants to portray a younger attitude :)
I agree with her on so many things, she's cool. Kind of bugs me how so many males below just comment on sex appeal an looks.
Ya well that’s very typical ! Only looks matter … annoying I agree !
Helen Mirren is a rare beauty. She exudes sexiness just seating there.
Thanks for uploading! :D
So intelligent.
Watching this, I was struck with a distinct likeness in manner between Helen Mirren and Princess Di. Now I'm going to shock... in the right mood, Germaine Greer had "it" in spades. Allure.
Her voice is so differant!
Always amazing!
She is the most divine actress of our time.
Comes across as a very articulate intelligent person and reminds me a bit like David Bowie interviews and someone who you just want to watch and listen to.
Interesting observation. I see what you mean. Very subtle similarity but it's there.
Yes I agree, very like Bowie
HER VOICE AND EYES ARE HYPNOTIC....!!!!
Minus the cocaine
She's a TRUE ACTRESS (not those stupid Hollywood stars...).
Viva Mavis!
Helen's amazing. She was twice as sexy at 60 than 30
Nah 😂
If you turn off the visual and just listen to the audio, she sounds just like Princess Diana
A main difference here from Parky or other male interviewers is of course the Interviewer is feamale...plus the interviewer seems quite more sophisticated than Parky..or othe male chat show hosts ...bit like womans hour on Radio 4
I started looking for Prime Suspect and landed on a few early Helen Mirren interviews including this one and I have to say she was really sexy and what a soothing voice. I had only seen her from her Prime Suspect times on to her recent stuff.
My first experience watching HM was when she played, Morgana in Excalibur! She was fierce & awesome in that movie! If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it! The guy who plays Merlin is exceptional too! Best Merlin I've ever seen! And, I've seen them all because I'm into the whole king Arthur and the round table story. This Morgana & Merlin have a lot to do with that!
Goddess - that is all ...
She has the bearing of a queen.
Beauty
As charming as she is, she doesn't half spout some nonsense at the start.
You can really see how her experiences growing up have conditioned her.
Am doing a H. Mirren Double in Where Angels dare to tread then The Door.
actress!!!!!!!!!
Mavis was the best interviewer by miles, so so much better than Parkinson and that lot.
I had forgotten about Mavis Nicholson, absolutely love her voice. I wonder if she did Woman's hour, I must google her.
Hi, I'm not sure either - Wiki will tell you of course. Her style got so much more interesting replies than the interviewers did.@@daisymeadow6662
The lady Caesonia. Hail!
So much prettier than the botoxed/ filled faces of today!
Helen Mirren reminds me to Princess Diana.
I was just thinking about exactly the same thing when watching some of her older interviews tonight!
Yes I came 2 that Conlusion as well
I think she played Parkinson very well and he suffered mostly because he was firstly aroused by her and dealt her from the bottom of his deck of questions. I like Parky despite his being an uncouth middle-aged male in the mid-70's - just like half of tv humour was back then!
Parky was our finest chat show host - end of. Obviously, not every one of his countless interviews was going to work......& it's sad that those that didn't are the ones that people seem to remember! I'm glad you mention 'humour' - most people had a sense of humour, then & were not looking for fresh ways to be offended!!
What a MINX
obviously she's wild rebel without a cause and she loves photography art
Wish daytime TV was classy these days.
“I’m not very good with words”...........
Her side pose totally resembles Meryl Streep
Being English? She's Russian decent isn't she?
Yup - just like the actual Queen, very English in style, and not very English in heredity.
John Chisholm Anglo Russian
, her mother was Scottish.
Yes she is.
Mavis Nicholson, the interviewer is now 87. That tells you how old this interview is.
The days of decent, quality ITV daytime. This and Farmhouse Kitchen😊
Hubba hubba ...she pretty.
You can tell that she didn't teach for long if she doesn't understand why pupils can't just be allowed to talk whenever they feel like it. It applies to adult learners as well. I've done some adult teaching and one of the most frustrating things is people talking to each other when you're trying to teach. It's so annoying for the other learners and you know you're going to have to explain it all over again for the benefit of those who didn't listen. 😡😡😡😡
What a pretty nose!
Older her nose is long.
"..was as happened to have written in English". Nice turn of phrase.
Why do they always bring up a Fairground ! She's not the only one who goes to Fairs? Its like their not interviewers but psychiatrists, trying to trap her into saying certain things ! I love Helen Mirren as an actress!
No Brooke, I love her voice, if I liked her accent, I would've said that!
Gary Lee It is a nice voice without the accent but the accent is what comes through so strong for me.
What a babe she was
Has the emotional range of a block of ice.
Yes people she was an actress........and not a a great one at that ! couldn't wait to get her kit off in those days.... and yes guys you wouldn't kick her out of bed .......
oh my I have such a crush on Helen Mirren I don't even fancy women in general but I'd go crazy about her and I can't even name WHAT it is!!
she talks like Princess Di did.
The most beautiful and sexy woman on the planet.
She's beautiful
Huh I was thinking this must be 42 43 yes ago 35 yes of age lucky guess I guess I was just thinking she 35 in here ...
Her voice is amazing but her accent and mannerisms come across as cultivated rather than natural to me. I seem to remember she gained notoriety in her early career for taking her clothes off or being scantily clad which was unheard of then. That said, she is an excellent actor.
Actress, she is a woman you know.
I'd agree. I reckon she is very confected. I reckon she DOES utilise her beauty and sexuality for professional gain but is in deep denial (see Parky interview). Yes, great actress too, but we all have our physical attributes ... which some do and some don't exploit. Mansfield, Garbo, Dietrich, et al, all USED their femininity to screen advantage. And yet Mirren denies this. I smell a hypocrite.
