I've had a couple of cabins in the woods over the years, the last one we still own. People would say to me "boy, I bet you can't wait until you're done so you can relax and enjoy it"? I'd respond "I am relaxing and when I finish I'll need to start on another"! I'll be 70 in Oct. 024 - we're looking at a house with a 30'x48' 1800's barn that needs a good caretaker. If God is willing, so am I.
Heck yes it's worth it. I've watched a bunch of videos of barn rehabs. Many worse dome better. All worth it. At least I hope so. I'm getting ready to rehab a 28x40 barn with 800 bale loft. Straighten posts, lift floor, lift roof bring trusses back together. Then brace up. Collar ties to knee wall to rat run bracing. Then turnbuckles with wire to keep tension.
I like this sort of thing too. The building has good bones and it's worth fixing up. It'll look really good too. Can't wait to find out what they want to do with the barn. Suspense.
@@PaullaWells it will become an investment property for us. We will make it a live stock property for cows and pigs. The options are endless. The situation is very fluid if you know what i mean.

I preface my comment by saying I know NOTHING about construction but want to learn. Isn’t the problem that the wood posts were originally buried into the ground? So how does sistering another wood post into the ground fix this? And is there any way to cut back the original post to good wood and then sit it on a cement pillar? As I said - clueless.
I am very inspired by your videos. A friend of mine has a farm, with two fallen barns, two standing (being used but needing repair), and an old sugar shack almost fallen. Questions: What is the tool you use to take off the wood? I tried seperating the good wood from the fallen barn the nails are so well done, it is really difficult to seperate the wood. It looks like a long crow bar, but in another video of yours (the barn roof), it looks like a shovel handle. Also, can you please write down the name of the drill you used, and your electric -- was it a jig saw? Thanks.
The bare that i use in this video is called a spud bare and the other is called a tear off bar. The saw that i use a lot in my videos is a sazaw and it is battery operated. Hope this helps and thanks for watching.

youre afraid of spiders and youre still standing there? i would have been on the otherside of the property. for every one you you there are 10 you dont. then im going to feel crawly and that sweat just dripping on my skin im going to think its a spider. ewwwwwww!
