I love the concept. Seems that it would add a level of comfort and controllability to straddle it. Being a horse guy, I would for sure be trying to steer the thing with my legs.
Thanks! Its takes a while to get going in aviation. If you keep at it it long enough, the day comes tou just roll out your airplane and take to the skies! Good luck in your journey!
What engine is on this and what cliimb rate do you get out of it? it looks pretty decent. Do you think the thump air is going to perform as well? I need to pick an engine for my airbike when I get further through the build and still not exactly sure what I am going to choose.
This is an airbike. I have no idea what a new one would cost. This particular aircraft is soon going up for sale. If you are interested you can email me at kidkhaos@kidchaosconcepts.com
The most common cause of a crash is pilot error. If you receive proper training, you can heavily mitigate that risk. As far as mechanical problems, the biggest worry is an engine failure. If you have been properly trained, you will be ready for that and know how to handle the situation properly. Given the slow speed of these, I think an emergency landing is probably a lower risk than in a bigger aircraft. You dont need nearly the amount of room to land, giving you the most emergency landing options. When you arrive at the ground, you won't be going as fast, so you should sustain less injury. With proper training and maintenance, I consider myself pretty safe.
I don't think so personally. It's a little more involved than riding a motorcycle, I suppose. I took lessons to learn to fly, i would highly recommend anyone else do the same
I bought it already built. I can tell you from following build that you can spend a serious amount of cash on these. I saw a 2 place Light Sport build go over $60k. If you want the best bang for your buck in a high wing tractor configuration, check out the affordaplane. If you want an excellent deal on a chromoly fuselage kit, check out Badland Aircraft. Chris has dialed in the nicest flying ultralight that actually makes weight, looks, and flies like an actual airplane. The badland is my top recommendation at rhis time.
The wires are crimped properly at this point anyway. They don't provide any support, only stabilize the tail. The original design didn't have them at all, they were later added to improve handling.
@@kidkhaos6427 if you reverse kink the wires in a wire rope you have decreased strength greatly. I wouldn't trust my life on a risk that can easily be remedied, but you have free will. Fly high, and good luck to you!
@@scottjohnson7466 they aren't a trust your life cable. They are make your airplane fly a little better cables. Also the are crimped now and no longer clamped as stated above.
@@kidkhaos6427 great machine. I was gonna express a concern about the cable grips not being crimped but you’ve done that. I know of a flexwing used by a school and the crimp on their new wing cable gave way ( wrong rope/crimp combo) the wing folded up and went through the roof of a barn, on take off. Just about survived. Lucky it wasn’t at height cos they had no reserve system,
@@thpxs0554 As I previously stated I was never in any danger. This airplane was flown prior to me owning it without those cables there at all. They in no way support the wings. They only improve the handling by stabilizing the tail of the airplane a bit, the fuselage is kind of springy. I'm not sure I have ever seen another airbike with these cables. While the clamps are ugly, they were more than sufficient for the purpose they were used for. I appreciate everyone's concern for my safety.

nice landing
They aren't all pretty but I'll take a few good ones 😅
Such a cool little ultra light

Now that’s flying! Bully for you!
Such a nice little plane, I might have to pick me one of these up...
I really enjoy mine! A guy in my club has a few kits ready to be assembled when you are ready!

I wonder if you can get tundra tires to land on the beach or floats. Alaskan
Surely! Check out my aerolite 103, this tires would be great for the beach!
Thank you for the nice video. What is the exact name of the aircraft and how much does this bird cost?

Good video and a nice airplane. I believe I detected some slight wind noise when you switched to the tail camera.
Yeah, that pesky propeller keeps blasting air at my cameras! 😆
that is a lot of fun looks cool
1:29 How about a motobike jacket?
If the engine goes week he could stil land safely by I gliding down?
This is awesome!!
Thanks its tons of fun!
Saudações desde Brasil, gostei muito desse modelo de avião, gostaria de saber qual é a envergadura dele, e qual é o peso final dele, obrigado.
Great video Chris. How does the airbike compare to the aerolite as far as ease of flying? Are they similar?
I've seen the website couple years ago. I would love to have one
Question. How is safety on these things? What are the risks and odds of crashing? I’m completely new to this but it looks really cool

I'm thinking about buying one , I've always wanted to fly and I'm mechanically inclined, is it really hard to fly??

How much was it to build that thing? Was that from a set of plans or a kit? Thanks for the great content!

I like the concept, sadly it seem really unsafe and dangerous way of transporation.
@a-2339 It's only unsafe if operated in an unsafe manner.
I would argue that it is safer than a motorcycle.
