I moved out of Bozeman after seven years of living there just a few months ago, so this was a fun way to indulge my homesickness, thank you! I did want to mention a couple things, particularly coffee: Cafe M is the best coffee in Bozeman and has a location on Main St. and one on Kagy. Wild Joe's is the next best, and then Rockford Coffee. Top three breakfast spots for me are Stormcastle, then Nova, then Cateye. Breweries are Bunkhouse, then Bridger Brewing, then probably Map, and the best bar is the Copper Whiskey Bar. Also, hot springs! Bozeman Hot Springs is fine if you want to stay in town but Norris is my favorite if you're willing to drive about an hour, or about an hour the other way to go to Chico, which is close to Yellowstone. If you're outdoorsy, Hyalite is a very close wilderness area and depending on what you want to do, you can hike, camp, swim, kayak, or just have a fire with your friends. The MSU rec center has all kinds of rentable gear if you need anything. This was so fun, thanks for the trip down memory lane!
Lewis & Clark Caverns is a must check out, and you covered what to do during the warmer months. Winter months, ski resorts of course, and in paradise valley, Chico Hot Springs is great, plus dog sledding is available there. I don't like Blackbird all that much, recommend Red Tractor Pizza, much better IMO.
Ate at the Pickle Barrel a lot while in college in the early 80's. The town doesn't have it's small town atmosphere anymore like it did when we were there. Still pass through once a year to see how it changed.
Bob Guenthner I went to MSU in the 60's and lived on a ranch there from 1970-86. Yes, indeed, Bozeman has changed so very much since those years. Would not want to live there any longer! Far too much traffic and can't even find a parking spot on Main Street. Has lost its charm.
my buddy moved out to bozeman 3 years ago and in two months will be my first visit. 6 days and non stop activities from the time we get up to the time we go to sleep im really excited for it and to see my buddy. we are also going to spend a day at yellowstone seeing as much as we can see
I live in Livingston, Montana and like the list that you had here Thank you for coming here abouts I have vlogs on RUclips and do a lot of stuff around here on there when I can
The Lava Lake hike is maybe 15-20 minutes outside of Bozeman just inside Gallatin Canyon. Rocky, beautiful, forested hike that ends at a gorgeous mountain lake. It's my favorite hike in the area. Hyalite also has a lot of sweet trails. Another, more challenging hike is up the backside of the Bridger range -- Sacajawea Peak. It's a mostly exposed trail, very windy, but some amazing views of both sides of the range at the top. Happy hiking to anyone who visits!
I visited Bozeman back in 2015 and next to Lugano Switzerland its one of the most beautiful places on Earth. Although i have heard people are heading there in droves nowadays..
I lived in Bozeman for 2 years and Hyalite was one of the highlights of that place! Be sure to check out Hyalite Canyon in the summer! So much to see, take a dip in the water and hike up to the peak!
Hi, we are from the Netherlands. Visited Bozeman in 2017. We loved the Museum of the Rockies. You missed the Homestead , just behind the Museum. A real experience. Thought I should mention it. We love your travel video,s on you tube. Thank you. Agnes&Jan
We just went to Bozeman. Thank you, for all the info! We took your advice, we did everything, but the hot springs (not enough time) and the only hike we did was the hike to the College M. It was not easy, even the trail to left. It has a lot of switchbacks, rocky terrain, and steep drops to the side. I workout, on a regular bases, so I am not in terrible shape, but even the hike to the left was not easy. Maybe its because I live at sea level and Bozeman is over 5,000 feet in evelation, idk, but it was not easy. My son tripped and almost fell off the side. I would not recommend this hike with kids. The Museum of the Rockies was really entertaining, informative, and was way bigger than I expected. The bear encounter was the best!!! I will go back, just for that!....thanks again! 😀
We are planning to go to Montana this summer and your video helps us so much! If we decide to go to Bozeman, we will do exactly what you did. Thank you so much for posting this!
When it comes to food you missed out on a lot. You’ll have to go back. My daughter goes to college at MSU and it’s a good excuse to go back. Yellowstone isn’t that far and if you make it to Bozeman Glacier is only five hours. Anyway, food & coffee. 1. Feed: have Panzanella - it’s so awesome!!! sourdough, organic arugula, bacon, sheep’s milk feta, sun-dried tomato vinaigrette, sunny side up egg A. Main Street Overeasy 2. Roost: awesome chicken 3. El Rode Food Truck! Best Mexican! You can eat in the bus or they put up some tents to eat outside. Or just pick it up and go. 4.The Daily: coffee, this is my main stop for coffee. They make all their baked goods. If that’s what you want go early as it’s so good it disappears fast. 5. Treeline coffee: after Treeline head on over to 6. Wild Crumb: for some of the best baked goods. Bread - pastries - tarts - cookies and sandwiches 7. Don’t go to City Brew 8. Montana Ale Works is ok 9. Dave’s Sushi As for coffee have a “bee sting” BTW, many people have dumped their lightly used gear and this town is active. If I ever need gear or outdoor clothing, as a lot is lightly used or new, I go to Second Wind Sports in Bozeman because I get there but not often enough. My best example, I took my daughter fly fishing for the first time. She loved it so much we went to Second Wind as Play It Again has ok stuff. Anyway, I got her a used Orvis Clearwater rod and reel setup for $85. New is $336 and sales are $248.60. After inspection, if it was used it was once or twice. The line was in perfect condition as was the rod and reel.
The Daily has pretty good coffee, but I actually prefer the coffee shop in the strand union building of the university (its called The Brewed Awakening) and City Brew. Cold Smoke is pretty good to.
I would say the food is one of the parts of the list that should be its own video almost. Cafe Zydeco (amazing Cajun) is a hidden gem, Main Street over easy is one of the best breakfasts around, bridger brewing by MSU is a brewery and delicious pizza spot, and that’s part of the list.
I'm from Bozeman. I think the only thing you missed was Hyalite lake and all the trails around it. Palisade Falls is a wheelchair accessible hike that almost anyone of any fitness level can do. It's very popular so if you want to get away from people this is not the hike for you. There is a beautiful waterfall at the end and you can hear the falling water before you see it. lots of other hikes in Hyalite too.
Wow, amazing video! As a guide in Korea I'm deeply moved by your compact and smooth explanation about Bozeman. Also your video is perfect!I love traveling and taking videos about beautiful places. But everything is difficult to travel abroad these days, so your wonderful videos satisfy me a lot even by on-line. Bon voyage!

Open Range is my favorite restaurant in Bozeman. Definitely has the best steak in Bozeman. If you’re going to Big Sky, have dinner at the Horn and Cantle. Gorgeous log cabin lodge atmosphere, giant stone fireplace on the front porch with lots of outdoor seating...weather permitting. Happy noshing!
I like Sir Scott's Oasis in Manhattan for steak. Granted, The Mint in Belgrade used to be fantastic, but it's been under different ownership for several years now.
I used to lived in Bozeman in small area in 4 corner nothing like bigger city. Boom.... now got way bigger it's crazy. I just moved to Townsend Montana.
Jam ... 25 West Main Street...is our favorite place for breakfast; high quality delights for the foodie and friendly service 😊 Our whole family loves it. Museum of the Rockies is a must see too 👍
Sights : Hyalite, Lewis & Clark caverns, Any of the zip line and rafting tours. Food: Nova Cafe for breakfast and MacKenzie River pizza for dinner. Nice video. It's hard to do it all.
Oh and I would totally recommend Saffron Table for food! It’s beautiful authentic Indian fare with a modern twist. Everything made super fresh and the owner, Andleeb is such a kind person!
They sponsor The Moose's lunch request and you can win a $15 gift card some weeks by calling in when Kevin Moriarty says the next caller gets the gift card. I've won several for different businesses in Bozeman.
I am from the big sky area and it's heart breaking to see all the farm land out here being destroyed, glaciers melting, and all that. I remember when the population was under a million.......
For me , my trip is not complete without a stop at Mama Mac's. It is a bakery and breakfast and lunch hot spot. With the best bisque and gravy on the planet. Located in Four Corners MT , you past it on your way to the Bozeman Hot Springs and heading to Big Sky.
I've been here in bozeman for half of my life and it has grown by leaps and bounds. You mentioned a lot of good places and I thank you for that, but i wonder if you have been to The Sashimi Bar. If you like sushi and enjoy seeing it freshly prepared in front of you it is a good place that is located in downtown bozeman.
Upper Hyallite is the best hike to me. But It,s a hard 10mi hike anf more than worth the trip. Boseman downtown is the coolest place on earth!!! I LOVE the Blackbeard Pizzas and the Pickle Barrel, Which is where I met my wife. Great job
Western Cafe is definitely the best breakfast in town. Haven't seen that doughnut shop, but you can't go wrong with Aleworks. The Bay is good as well, and Dave's Sushi always rocks. Hilyte canyon and Palasades falls is a comfortable and scenic hiking area but the booze cruze on the Madison is relaxing way to drink and be irresponsible. plenty of fishing to be had locally as well.
There is a family entertainment center with two separate locations in Billings, Montana. One indoor and one outdoor with many activities for ages preschool to adult! Wild Rose Action Center.
Greetings from Nepal!! Definitely try to do the pine creek lake trail, the larger hike that spans around 7-10 hours. It was the most amazing hike I did when I was in Bozeman.
My aunt took me to The Grizzly Experience a year or so ago when she came to visit me. We got to see Bella, their youngest bear and she will do trick if you ask nicely. I said, 'hey Bella' softly and she looked right at me, got a great picture of her looking right at me as I took the picture. They have one bear that came out later (I forget his name) that is addicted to coffee. Before each bear comes out, the keepers hide treats around the enclosure. It helps stimulate them and encourages exercise. With Bella they hid mostly fruit, with the next bear it was a few grapes and other fruit, some nuts, and a LOT of coffee grounds. They hid coffee grounds and some coffee beans all over and when he came out, he wasted no time in finding every last crumb. As the keeper said he would, he ate it, rolled around in it, rubbed it on his furr....and I thought *_I_* loved coffee.
The only thing I ever knew about Bozeman was that a couple people I knew moved there to work at a specific tattoo shop, the owner of which died some years back.
Nice video. Nice cool vibe to it too. The area has so much stuff outdoor wise, but you definitely did a great job of hitting most of the popular things. A few more: Hyalite area, Bridger Canyon and Bridger Bowl Ski area, Emerson Cultural Center, Ellen and Rialto Theaters, Lewis and Clark Caverns State Park.
I’m from the East Coast and Bozeman was recommended to me as I’m looking for a conservative, gentle, calm city to live in for some time. I’m a little sad to hear that the town doesn’t have the exact small town feel that it used to 😢 would have loved to have experienced that! but I’m looking forward to resting here for a little while ❤
Born MT. Flathead 1990. BZN used to feel like Montana but no longer. Now, it is overrun with those who wear trendy "406" attire and are destined to turn it into the very place they fled all while professing their superiority to those who have lived here our/their whole lives.
So many beautiful, affordable locations with extremely high qualities of life being ruined by the crowd looking for the next best thing, only to sooner or later turn it into being just like the last place they escaped. Austin is now a mere shadow of its former self. Getting out as soon as I can manage it.
Cool vid! I’m from Bozeman so it’s kinda cool to see what folks do when they come here- definitely missed some spots but I can’t expect you to know them! Good job
I’m not sure when you filmed this but for food the baccus pub is worth mentioning all though it got a little worse after a change of owner ship, also make a stop at hylite resivoir as it is one of the most godamn beautiful places especially in early fall
I really enjoyed watching this video! One of my best friends went to school there and I always been curious to learn about it since later he moved to Seattle and that's when I got to know him. Really cool about the dinosaur and computer museum!
Duh, like you know, there are three rivers that come together to form the Missouri, not two. They are the Gallatin from the left, the Madison in the middle, and the Jefferson from the right, if you are facing south. (It’s interesting to me that the Madison and Jefferson combine just before the Gallatin joins them, so I wonder what you would call that 100-yard-long river? To my knowledge, this small stretch of water does not have a name, so maybe it’s up for grabs even now! Hey, overall, do you think that the facts I’ve given MIGHT be why they call the town right next to the the confluence “Three Forks” and not “Two Forks”? From a Montana State University graduate
I'm moving to Townsend at the end of this month. I know there is a lake right behind my daughter's house called. Where do you suggest to travel to with a canoe?
Storm Castle Cafe, right next to Grandma's Donuts, was actually on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. I've eaten there a few times. Sunday brunch is busy. Bar 3 in Belgrade is a favorite. Their Sunday brunch is terrific, and they're usually busy at night. Bridger Brewery is a good restaurant for pizza and beer, but if you want a more family friendly restaurant down the street with better pricing but not as upscale, I love to go to Columbo's Pizza. I love their tomato pie, and I usually get pepperoni or something with meat, but the flavor is awesome! Seven Sushi is my favorite sushi restaurant, and I always get the Jaw Dropper. Safron Table and The Rice Bowl are also excellent.
There are places to rent mountain bikes, and then head out to the many trails available in the area (the shops will have recommendations/maps). Down by Big Sky, The Gallatin Riverhouse Grill has amazing smoked BBQ meats and sides. As others have mentioned, the lakes and hikes up Hyalite are absolute required hiking.
Just wanted to correct your information about the headwaters of the Missouri. You said that two rivers come together, Actually, three rivers come together to form the headwaters. Those rivers are the Gallatin, the Madison and the Jefferson, all named by Lewis and Clark.
Ha ha. You left out Palisade falls. The sculpture park behind the library in downtown Jam! for brunch. The chocolate moose for ice cream. Paulies dogs up by the football stadium. Best burger and Kountry Kafe in Four Corners Even the gallatin valley mall with barnes and noble. Drinking horse mountain hike
Come down to Wyoming....You could visit Cheyenne, Laramie, Casper......or Come and check out Cody Wyoming....its not a city but it's a great place to visit any time of the year..👍😊
Booked our flight to Bozeman for this summer and looking forward to stopping at one or two of these places on our trip! Also, are you not a coffee drinker? I always love finding great small coffee shops on my travels ;)
Um Lewis and Clark caverns, hyalite, Yellowstone is pretty close by, how could you not mention wild crumb, um how about a lot of the awesome art installations, farmers market during the summer, sweet pea and slam if you hit that weekend, SKIING! So much more.
I almost went to College there, but chose to go to Arizona instead because I had some friends going there. Arizona was super hot all the time, and the desert is more of the same everywhere you go. There isnt much to do in the outdoors in the desert, its too hot and too unforgiving. The worst part of Arizona was the kids from Orange County and LA. These kids all come from money and privilege so they aren't very down to earth. They were all super materialistic and vain. I had nothing in common with the average student and UofA and it was one of the more depressing and lonely times in my life.. Montana provides the things that I enjoy doing whether I am spending time with people or not. I like to hike, camp, soot guns, fish, ride dirtbikes and drive 4x4's. I would have been in an environment that was beautiful and I would have been around other young people who shared my interests. The Student population would not have been douchebags from LA either. They would have been people who were more like myself. I regret attending UofA. In hindsight Montana would have been a lot more enjoyable and I would probably be a happier person with life in general had I attended a school in such a beautiful place..
U did "ok" but as a 60 yr resident I would have to omitted all shopping/eating and focused on 13 of the myriad of natural wonders that abound which you will experience NOWHERE else. FYI The Madison, Gallatin and the Jefferson Rivers conjoin at Headwaters to form the Missouri. 1,2,3 Three not 2😁
The Cannery on a Sunday morning for New England Patriot football and a burger. If you need some jewelery to bring back to someone the Gem Gallery is hands down the best.
I didn't know a few of these places existed. I deliver downtown to our customers exclusively, and don't explore downtown, so I don't really know anyone else. I have been to Bite of Bozeman and Music on Main, and don't really explore outside of those places.
That hike looked awesome! We will be in Bozeman for an extra day in May and are looking for something to do. We will have bear spray and will bring it (as you suggested) but were wondering if you frequently see them on that specific hike or if you meant to have bear spray in general? Thank you so much for all the awesome recommendations, we loved watching this video as we get excited to visit the Yellowstone area again!
Bear spray in general is a good recommendation. Some thing around 10,000 btu's per the words of the gentleman who heads up the grizzly bear encounter. You never know when you will come across one with her Cubs. And the spray is more fast acting and non-lethal than a firearm. And you and the bear get to go home to your family

We are heading that way in about a month. Thank you for the recs!
How was your trip to Bozeman? I found the cost of living to be rather out of my financial means, so off to Great Falls... good luck!
Upper Hyallite is the best hike to me. But It,s a hard 10mi hike anf more than worth the trip. Boseman downtown is the coolest place on earth!!! I LOVE the Blackbeard Pizzas and the Pickle Barrel, Which is where I met my wife.
Great job
I live here and I could never imagine leaving
Western Cafe is definitely the best breakfast in town. Haven't seen that doughnut shop, but you can't go wrong with Aleworks. The Bay is good as well, and Dave's Sushi always rocks. Hilyte canyon and Palasades falls is a comfortable and scenic hiking area but the booze cruze on the Madison is relaxing way to drink and be irresponsible. plenty of fishing to be had locally as well.
Thanks for all of the great suggestions!
Nice video. I don't live there now, but I was born in Bozeman & lived there for 23 years. ☺
Appreciate the watch and comment
There is a family entertainment center with two separate locations in Billings, Montana. One indoor and one outdoor with many activities for ages preschool to adult! Wild Rose Action Center.
Bridger bowl, along with the backside of the Bridgers
Watching your channel grow through the past few years has been cool! Great video once again!
Being a native of 65 years yah gotta check out little bozeman aka hyalite lake and pallisade falls or fairy lake
Thanks for the suggestions. I wish I would have had more time to explore the outdoor stuff, it seems like an area full of amazing hiking!
@@ThroughMyLens Absolutely, there is world class hiking in every direction.
Jam is a must eat breakfast or lunch place, right downtown also
I'm writing a crime novel which is Happening in Bozeman, beautiful city
There are 3 rivers that make up the Missouri River and you totally missed the Ringing Rocks! You must check it out!
Hyalite Canyon, Hyalite falls, Spanish peaks hike, Fairy lake. Fairy lake is a must - I suggest a good SUV, don't try the trek in a car.
Awesome, appreciate the tips. Looks like some amazing spots
What's 406 attire?
So many beautiful, affordable locations with extremely high qualities of life being ruined by the crowd looking for the next best thing, only to sooner or later turn it into being just like the last place they escaped. Austin is now a mere shadow of its former self. Getting out as soon as I can manage it.
True I just moved here for work, I prefer to hang out in the small towns surrounding Bozeman.
Traffic, population, crowds, dog pollution on the trails.
Everything you do not want.
Cool vid! I’m from Bozeman so it’s kinda cool to see what folks do when they come here- definitely missed some spots but I can’t expect you to know them! Good job
Bozeman look incredible
Will be there in june this year. First time for me in montana. Greetings from good old europe😉
Thank you :)
Dang, you are making me hungry with all of these suggestions! Appreciate it!
Hyalite! It's one of Bozeman's top attraction!
Thanks for the suggestion!
Use to be amazing. Now it's like a NY park over run with DBAG people.
@@ralphpetterson5689 What are DBAG people?
🤯Breathtaking views in that state Another great video Josh and Amy I hope you guys have a great New Year’s eve🙏😎
As always, love the video and detailed recommendations! Have you made a video on, or are planning to do a video on Moab, UT?
Thanks for the comment. I haven't made a video on Moab but that would be a great one for the future!
Been to Bozeman 3 times love it!
Great tips! Would love to spend more time doing some mountain biking
I have a wonderful cabin 20 miles south of bozeman.
You are one lucky person. Sounds divinely peaceful. I always wanted to live in a cabin.
I just move to Bozeman Montana coming from GA . Right now I’m very bored. I’m ready to take anyone advice’s
Through my lens-- The Best photography store in the state of Montana is F11 in Bozeman!! Randy B.
Montana is full!
The sculpture park behind the library in downtown
Jam! for brunch. The chocolate moose for ice cream. Paulies dogs up by the football stadium. Best burger and Kountry Kafe in Four Corners
Even the gallatin valley mall with barnes and noble.
Drinking horse mountain hike
Thanks for all the great suggestions!

These videos have been great trip inspiration! One place I'm interested in visiting is Corvallis, Oregon. Any chance you'll make it up that way?
Awesome, glad you enjoy them! I haven't been there before but I always love going back to Oregon.
Come down to Wyoming....You could visit Cheyenne, Laramie, Casper......or Come and check out Cody Wyoming....its not a city but it's a great place to visit any time of the year..👍😊
Hyalite Canyon south of Bozeman is incredible.
Wild Crumb is a do not miss😋
I live in Bozeman and have for the past 35 years
nice!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
1,2,3 Three not 2😁
Can you try out and recommend upscale restraunts other than dinners, pubs and pizza for food?
living here is cool ,but the amount of people moving here is insane
great info thank you for making this!
Have you visited Wyoming? I love the Wind River Mountain area.
I miss Montana
The best cupcakes are in Bozeman too. Cupcake Mountain Cupcakery!
Hi hi
So beautiful. Any major difference with its neighbor Wyoming?
So so beautiful!!!
Great video 🙂
You must show off more of the cities Josh!
Really appreciate that! I try to get to as many places as I can!
@@ThroughMyLens you do the best to your abilities!
We are brob moving there but how far away is it? Because we are in America???
In the history museum I fell down the stairs 😂
I live in bozeman and sweet peaks is the best icecream ever.
How's the fishing?
Wish I could go to Bozeman Montana.
As a bozemanite this was a pretty good list
What’s the weather like in late March?
The Cannery on a Sunday morning for New England Patriot football and a burger.
If you need some jewelery to bring back to someone the Gem Gallery is hands down the best.
Thanks for the suggestions!
Are there a lot of bears on those trails?
heading there in january of 2022 for a week, what should i expect weather wise???
Ice and snow,and 20 below...
Is this recommended to me cuz I live here? Cool video.
I didn't know a few of these places existed. I deliver downtown to our customers exclusively, and don't explore downtown, so I don't really know anyone else. I have been to Bite of Bozeman and Music on Main, and don't really explore outside of those places.
@@bencline1915 I knew of most of them, but not all.
same
That hike looked awesome!
