An additional tidbit: Contrary to popular belief, it was actually Ambrosio Rianzares Bautista, the one who also authored the declaration of Philippine independence, who actually had the honor to wave the Philippine flag in Kawit back then.

Learning history, I stumbled upon the fact that the Philippines is the most heavily European-influenced Asian country. Though we can say there are many other Asian countries that have been colonized by European power, they have managed to retain their indigenous culture, religion, and tradition. We can say that the Philippines still does have its own unique culture and tradition (evident in indigenous tribes), those are scarce unlike Indonesia or India. The country also adopted Roman Catholism that almost little if not none of the Philippine populace practices the nation's original religion, let alone remember it. For me, it is both a sad and fascinating occurrence.

nah.I think losing our original flag is also like losing our own Traditions before colonization. so yeah we may lose our tradition and our flag. we still raised our own because being a Filipino means "Pakikipagkapwa" we are raised as one with the community we just don't realize it sometimes.Thats why they say Filipino are so laid back but then being with the community gives less pressure...
