- Delirium is a rapid change in mental status. When delirium occurs it can be a frightening experience for caregivers and families. This video was developed to guide families through the initial phases of delirium treatment. This video was developed by Barbara Kamholz, MD during her tenure as a federal employee. She has given me permission to present it here, reproduction requires that appropriate credit be given.
This is an older video, but more relevant than ever. My father just came back from the hospital post Covid with pneumonia and is acting like this.
How is your father doing now
Me too. This is my mother's second time coming home post Covid with pneumonia. The first couple days home she was talking smiling, eating etc. Now she's barely eating or drinking anything, constipated, I try to give her the usual meds but she's spitting them out half the time. There's lots of in and out of being delirious. The scariest thing ever. Her primary is sending a nurse out tomorrow hopefully. 😮💨😰
frank is a darn good actor
I want some tomatoes
Best of health to Frank
This absolutely amazing at least seeing this I will never forget the signs of delirium thank you so much

Brilliantly brilliant..very informative, productive..thank aloooot
Great acting, really informative video👍
My partner got delirium 2 weeks ago and she is still recovering at home. It is so scary. She is getting her sleep and taking each day by day. I got her interested in learning to play piano something she wasn't interested in before. I want her back.
How is she?
@billymays8669 hi. It has been a year, and she got worse 😢.
Did they find it with MRI?
So what do you do??? Call the hospital? Your gp?? Someone please contact me, my Grandmother died of delirium, and now my mother seems to be showing signs of it, and I don't know what to do. Can I send them to the hospital against their will since they're not in their right frame of mind?? I have no one to help me take care of her, and I'm TERRIFIED, and feel helpless!
I hope all is ok 💜
I'm so anxious, tired and worn out. My mother just came home from the hospital after her second time catching Covid and trying my best. I wanted to extend her stay in the hospital but he swore you can't keep people in the hospital for being delirious and once she got home she'd bounce back in a few weeks. This first week has been rough.😰😩
i hope things are better now
@@elisaheid3737 She still gets confused but she's almost back to normal. We cut back on some of her meds which helped. Thanks. 🙂
I hope she's better now
do they get out of the delirium? my mom has it because of heavy alcohol abuse. Im scared....i want my mom back
Sorry I hope your mum's better
Did your mom ever recover? My mother in law is day 4 in the hospital ❤
Mom has dementia but ok to go out. Went into hospital..got a UTI there...and now after 6 days she is so much worse ...she is quiet
How long the recovery takes time ?
Very helpful
I wish they'd said what medical emergencies could be going on.
UTI is one
This video was helpful explaining what can cause it.

You can literally hallucinate objects and beings into existence because what's happening is you're tapping into that pure abstract creative potential of mind. That's exactly what you want. Of course it can be kind of freaky but a delirium is that times a thousand.
Your tapping into the spiritual realm
It goes away
Frank.. Take the Pills!!! :O :O
This was my dad, it got worse. He fell down and went to the ER. They discovered he had UTI
Hi could Delirium be cured
My dad have delirium symptoms pls pray for my father to get well soon
@@cloud-ds2im I hope he’s better now
Yes, in most cases it’s reversible
The whole world should know about delirium, Google it ask about it read about it
Just because you don't hear or see what they are, doesn't mean it isn't there
when you step on a lego and get amnesia
Me in a few days

From a normal and great sense of humor, working full time still, does cardio at gym, non drinker, non smoker, to the quiet type. 2 hospital admissions, multiple dr.’s, psychiatrists, and the plan is let’s see if a mood pill works in 1-2 months. Such a joke!! Nobody gives 2 craps.
How long did it last for you?

This video was definitely made/sponsored by a drug maker.
