I actually did my research on when they have comebacks. This isn't that unusual for Favorite, they tend to have a long break periods in between comebacks: They debuted on July 5th 2017 with 'Party Time' Their 1st comeback was on May 10th 2018 with 'Where are you from?' Then they had their most recent comeback on Jan 15th 2019 with 'Loca' I'm not sure but I think they had a few Japanese comebacks??? Correct me if I'm wrong. I don't like how Favorite is being managed. They have sooo much potential in Korea, but their company is putting that all to waste. Anyway, hope that they will get a comeback soon. I really miss them

Life isn't fair. When it comes to these kinds of things, a lot of it comes down to marketing and promotion. Which obviously means groups from bigger companies have an advantage. However, saying popularity over talent makes no sense. Popularity is a result of something, whether it is skill in ther field, marketing, charm, whatever. Talent and popularity are not factors that you can just pit against each other. It's not like they never come together, either.
It was the case in 2016 until the early 2018 but now, quality can bring you succes, like N.Flying case, Momoland case ( even if other thing help them ), Love Scenario and group that release good music like this song, begin to be more popular even if they still "unpopular"

This proof that good song alone isn't enough to top the charts. Publicity and marketing play a major part in a group's success. If we go by the standard, this song should top the charts for weeks.
I don't think it's just "a major part". It's THE part. Former k-pop idols have said, what makes a group successful or not is the promotion and contacts in the industry. The groups who became big without that were rare exceptions.
