    I was a team commander ( corporal ) in afghan and we had a young second lieutenant take over our multiple halfway through our tour and he was fantastic, he listened to the ncos and the men and we guided him and respected him and is now a company commander in my old battalion, this second lieutenant is going about it all wrong, instead of using his blokes experience to help him he is just isolating himself and quite frankly is a grade one bell end !!!

He’s ignoring the wealth of knowledge and also loosing respect that pulls the group together. I bet he’s embarrassed this is on RUclips. They don’t teach common sense at Sand Hurst . Thanks for serving the country. I hope your doing good these days. The best guy’s I’ve worked with, who are motivated clean and good team players have all been ex forces.

    • @sixbells99
      @sixbells99 4 года назад +5

      Nah the senior NCO's would make sure he got a posthumous medal for a single handed charge on a machine gun post: Shooting wank officers in war happens more often that you think and the Senior NCOs take care of their men, they would not let a drip like this lead them to their deaths. They would try and make him listen. If he didn’t they would make sure he would listen to angel harps. I know for a fact this happened in WWII and the Falkland's.

    • @sixbells99
      @sixbells99 3 года назад +5

      @Jaime D To be a Walter you need to claim to have been in battles or regiments you have not. Use your brain on how I could have got this information without actually being there! I have spoken to a number of soldiers from WWII, more than one claimed that they slotted shit officers. I hated the officers I was not in the paras or the Marines or the commandos, or have a million medals. I was in the late 1980s the soft end I was not in any wars but I was able to talk to a lot of veterans. The officer class system is wrong. Its the NCOs and squaddies on the ground that make the British army, not these hoorah henry reading Tatler who look down on everyone. Also in the Falklands War the Welsh Guards a regiment I was not in but close to got burned alive on a ship by a moron Rupert who despite of seeing all the air attacks on docked ships desired to leave the Welsh guards docked on The Sir Galahad. Many others pleaded with him to take them off as it would take around 20 minutes. But this prick would have none of it and the result was 48 men were killed many burned alive and were not killed by the initial blast . ALL BECAUSE of a stupid Rupert!

    Banner tours and patrols were a ball ache. Besides the obvious risks, the privations and living conditions could be soul-destroying if you let them. Command is a steep learning curve but junior commanders get on better when they're accepted in the team; one of the boys on downtime; 'in command' when it matters. The buddy buddy principle never stops. This 2nd Lt was dropped in the shit and had to learn fast; he's got big responsibilities including keeping his troops safe. That means empathy, Army discipline, and good sense in camp and out on the ground. Setting examples on basic drills, like weapon cleaning, and batteries for comms. Unfortunately there's no quick recipe and we don't know how this guy developed.

    Those Brits never ever learned, from the North of Ireland to Iraq to Afghanistan. In the end, they all went home with the tail between their legs having lost multiple men…and all for what? Spread of colonialism & Empire? These expeditions into other counties were a complete waste of time.

      North of Ireland?
      I rarely go.
