Aegon the conqueror, was never a prince. Therefore Rheanyra's "gotcha" moment makes little to no sense other than to make her seem morally superior to Alicent. The writers have kicked the Rheanyra/team black bias into overdrive and it is hurting the show. Alicent went from crashing out and cutting a sitting princess in defense of her child to not giving a damn about anyone in her family. It's ridiculous now.

He made the wrong decisions and was swayed too easily when he got older, and that's what caused all this. Alicent is also a fool and she deserves blame too. She was manipulated by Otto. And Viserys was manipulated by him as well. If Viserys had kept Daemon close to keep Otto at bay, listened to Daemon more regarding Otto, asserted his heir as Rhaenyra, and made sure that she and Alicent stayed close, none of this would've happened.

The Blackwoods vs Brackens thing is more complicated than "just some rocks".
Those rocks are there to mark the boundaries of their respective (neighboring) land. If someone moved those rocks, it means that they are claiming more land that belongs to the other side. Claiming territory belonging to another ruler has been grounds for war since the dawn of civilization. And if I remember correctly, this kind of shit happened constantly between these two. They were always fighting over land because they were neighbors and always taking land that belonged to the other and then they take it back plus some, on and on it goes.
Also, if there is a family out there that has stolen your property, killed some of your people, murdered your cousins and siblings and parents and children, etc, it honestly does not matter what initially started the beef between the two because the blood is so bad between them that they have more than enough hatred to go on forever with revenge killings. And every single time a fight breaks out, whether it is a large scale battle like at the mill, or if it's just two guys in a tavern where one gets shanked, in every single instance it just adds more fuel to the fire of their hatred for one another and the confirmation bias that everything about their rival faction is evil and seeks to destroy you and yours.
I mean shit, one of them straight up killed the other in the throne room to impress Princess Rhaenyra when she was still a teenager. And the one that died was mocking the one that killed him before it happened. Both sides hate each other so much, they constantly do things to give the other side justification to straight up kill them.
The dumbest motherfucker of them all was that boy that had a sword pointed at him and said "You wouldn't dare" because OF COURSE THEY WOULD, it aint the first time this kind of shit has happened. For him to walk over on his land and say he wouldn't dare kill him was the dumbest thing a person could possibly do.

1:49. These four guys are obviously sons of House Bracken, lords of Stone Hedge. The In-universe McCoys.
1:55. Speak of the devils, and they shall appear, in equal numbers even, four sons of House Blackwood, lords of Raventree Hall. The In-universe Hatfields.
2:22. It's called a smash-cut. I'm more frustrated that we didn't get to see the Battle of the Burning Mill itself. And while it did escalate rather quickly, give these family half a reason, and they'll go to war with each other. However, it should be noted that the Blackwoods can field more troops under their direct command than even their overlords, House Tully of Riverrun. Also, they're both still around by the time of GoT.
6:33. Implying that Laenor has died somewhere in the Free Cities.
8:32. He's got a clubfoot. Nom de Guerres in GoT come about depending on one's appearance, temperment, or actions.
9:24. As Simon said, the main reason is lost, but there are plenty.
During the Age of Heroes, the Blackwoods fled the North to escape the Starks as they conquered the Wolfswood. They established themselves in the Riverlands. Some say they ruled the Riverlands until the Brackens, horse-breeders back then, hired mercenaries to depose them. Others say the Blackwoods deposed the Brackens.
When House Hoare, Kings of the Iron Islands, eventually invaded the Riverlands, then under the rule of House Durrandon of Storm's End, Lady Agnes Blackwood led the Riverlands in a resistance against them, though Lord Lothar Blackwood betrayed her to House Hoare. And also, House Durrandon are the ones that House Baratheon descend from, they just took their sigil, castle, and words.
Both houses usually ended their petty wars with each other through marriage. There is Bracken blood within the Blackwoods, just as their is Blackwood blood within the Brackens.
10:58. You only see it for a second, but the Hightower shields have a green flame. In the books, the flame of the Hightower is actually red, but given they're going to war, maybe the green is for when they're off to war, with the red being during peacetime.
14:18. Considering Aegon's great-grandfather Jaehaerys had one of his Kingsguard, Lucamore Strong, gleded and sent to the Wall for marrying three women and fathering over a dozen children, they know not to make jokes about being sworn to chastity, lest Aegon do the same to them.
18:20 And because the dragons are the equivalent of nuclear weapons.
19:58 Harrenhal might as well be from Resident Evil.

25:39 Not exactly, Viserys wasn't just telling a bedtime story on his deathbed. What Alicent heard was Visery's reply to what Rhaenyra had asked him the night before. He thought he was talking to Rhaenyra. To jog your memory:
In the episode 8 of S1, when Luke's inheritance of Driftwood came under threat, Rhaenyra came to Viserys alone at night to beg for him to defend her and Luke's claim. During this, she also asked him if he really believed the prophecy of the Song of Ice and Fire and if she would be the one to unite the realms. Viserys did not answer because he was still out of it and under the influence of the Milk of the Poppy but he still her heard her.
It's the next day when Viserys starts refusing Milk of the Poppy, shows up to defend Luke's claim, hosts dinner and all. It's after all that, that when Viserys is on the verge of dying later that night and Alicent happens upon him and hears him say "You wanted to know if I believe it to be true" and Alicent is confused, but Viserys is like "Don't you remember? Aegon? His Dream. It is true..." and so on about the Prince That Was Promised. He was answering Rhaenyra.

People forget that Otto and the small council already had plans in place to make Aegon the king before Alicent told them about what she heard Viserys say. That's why she said there was no mistake. Aegon was going to be made king regardless.

Alicent and Otto were in a race to find Aegon that first day after Viserys died and Alicent won. She could have brought Aegon to Rhaenyra to bend the knee then, without Otto having the chance to do anything about it.

Yeah, people act like Alicent and her father weren't planning to do it even without Viserys gibberish. We are talking about the woman who told her son that the realm knows in their bone he will be their king waaaay back in ep 6 when Aegon was choking his little dragon at the window, and told her two boys that Helena will be Aegon's queen in ep 7

It's actually more likely that daenerys eggs were laid.
By dream fire Currently Helena's dragon. And quite possibly daenerys Dragons
are the siblings of Damon Dragon. As those eggs were stolen around the same year. That?
Damon Dragon egg was around. But by then Rhaenys farther Aemond clamd Caraxes.

  • @yeetthatmolotov

those eggs arent daenarys' eggs, those eggs came from dreamfyre and were stolen by Elissa Farman during the reign of Jaeherys the Conciliator. So daenys eggs are already in essos. The eggs taken by raena also dont match the color of the three eggs gifted to Dany

Thing is, very few of the commoners have any idea what adult Rhaenyra's face even looks like. She's spent years away from King's Landing and those who have seen her usually have from a great distance or when she was younger. And without her signature hair and and nice clothes... she blends in.

So the eggs that Dany gets, here's a fun fact. George rr Martin has an old Sci fi book that had these creatures that shoot through space like a comet and that wake sleeping magic. It's theorized that those eggs turned to stone and that it was literally a freak coincidence that the "red Comet" that was flying overhead happened when Dany stepped into the pyre, which ultimately hatched the eggs. If the comet hadn't happened, it's possible that Dany burns up in the fire along with the witch and drogo.

Let's be honest, Alicent knew FULL well her husband didn't overcome full-body-pain paralysis (EXCLUSIVELY to back his daughter's claim to the Throne) only to inexplicably change his mind 180 minuets later. Alicent knew that all along. Its obvious. But to then see her DOUBLE DOWN after getting confirmation of how silly her lie was - is ENRAGING.
I KNOW it's just a show, but people absolutely escalate global conflicts this way in real life - REAL conflicts that get very REAL civilian population centers massacred. Pisses me off. If you study the War Records of how our NSA & CIA acted throughout all the Major World Wars throughout modern history - ITS EXACTLY LIKE THIS! It was always the intelligence agencies of the United States assassinating sitting presidents & espionaging Global Conflict. War Crimes GALORE over the dumbest Ideologies & self serving LIES!
    Just like this.

To be fair there's like two Aegon's right now, so even without the whole song of ice and fire thing it still would be easy for what he said on his deathbed to not make sense. Then now we add the whole the first Aegon to the mix.
Well while the plan was not thought out I feel it was needed as both parties now know there is no avoiding the war. Though to be fair, with the whole perception being important as we saw in previous episodes, Rhaenyra didn't want to be the one to start the war, but the fact Aemond losing control of Vhagar and chomping her kid, and since it seems like most people heard about it, that alone could be enough to point the Greens as the one to start to conflict.
Then we had the whole assassination attempt, then Daemon doing his thing, I do feel that it should have been clear there was no avoiding the conflict, but taking their characters and their past into account, this validation might still be needed.
I just wish we got longer seasons, so we would have more time to really build on the characters, but I saw a lot of people hate on the episode for the lack of action and that it was slow and boring, which I dislike because I feel the rushing through the events the show is doing makes it hard for certain things to be impactful and enjoyable as it could have been. Imagine if we had a bit more time with Harwin, before he got burned, it would have been a bit more impactful than it was, since he (I know he showed up a few times before) was really only in that one episode. I like slower pacing, it easier to get invested in the story. I am a little bummed we didn't get to see the battle of the burning mill, I'll admit.
    That's just my opinion though.
