Years ago I managed to find a paperback copy of Stone Desert and read it in camp each night on a two-week solo journey through Canyonlands. And then came House of Rain, and The Secret Knowledge of Water, and more. Being on the land in the 4 Corners with eyes, ears, curiosity, and imagining more opened by Craig's wonderfully descriptive and instructive writings has been a true gift. Many thanks!
Great program, just like everything Craig does. One thought: I don’t know what the petroglyphs mean, of course, but I have an idea where they came from. Camped in the San Rafael Swell one frigid night, we built a fire, and then noticed that our shadows were perfect images of anthromorphs: broad shoulders, skinny arms and legs fading into shadow, a lump for a head. We held things on our hands and put things on our heads and the similarity was remarkable.
I love this area of our country. I lived in Moab, Ut for 5 years, from 1965 to 1970. I have been to four corners several times, and visited the Grand Canyon. The red rock makes me feel at home, it does something to my soul.
A great presentation!! Thank you!
I could listen to this guy forever…I love his perspective upon things!
Craig Childs, come back soon! we want to see more of your points of view!!!
