It would have been great if you could share the details and differences when:
1. Bucket Property is set to Object Lock 'Enabled' with 'Compliance' Retention Mode, vs
2. Object Property is set to Object Lock 'Enabled' with 'Compliance' Retention Mode, vs
3. Object Property is set to Legal Hold?
I am able to replace and delete an object when object lock is enabled as compliance retention mode, with root user. When deleted, 'delete marker' is set on the object.
Retention mode was set at the Bucket Level, so I had not to change it for every object in it.
Does it still hold true as this is almost 2 years old video?
Also, there is no super user as per aws documentations, it's either root or other IAM identities.

Object lock must be configured during bucket creation process not after.
