Reminds me of my early days with switch axe lol. And you got a pretty good time all things considered! Other people in the comments already gave some great advice, but just my 2 cents: when disengaging from the monster in sword mode, always get in the habit of rolling + immediately morph into axe. It gives extra distance and recovers sword gauge (which helps a lot with gauge management). It also helps when closing the gap on monsters instead of spam slow rolling in sword mode. Option 2 with alatreon: tool specialist 5 ZSD ZSD ZSD ZSD ZSD 🤯. You ignore the lightning on the head when doing ZSD but not when clutch clawed.
Good run, under 10 minutes with a weapon you're haven't "mastered" is insanely good. I'm not a master at this game but i played some SA so here's some stuff I've learnt While using Wild strikes(pressing b in axe mode). Swinging the axe more than thrice is rarely worth it. After the first axe swing you can already press RT or R2 to use the switch spin. And right after the third axe swing you can already press Y or triangle to use the overhead slam. Normally i see wild strikes more as a requirement for those two attacks than a attack per se. The final part of the overhead slam has a very good part breaker modifier and amplifies the part damage for all your other attacks for 45(but you probably already knew that). So the overhead slam is a very good "monster stopper" since the chance of flinching, tripping or staggering the monster with it is very high. I feel that is even higher if the monster is in the middle of a attack animation. Same with the second axe hit of the switch spin, very high chances of flinching the monster mid attack. And i feel that switching is always better when you do it as a follow up. It seems that the animation for switching standing still is higher than a axe poke + switch follow up yk And while in axe mode. Poke + fade slash and Y + B(and it's Y follow up) are the best options by far. Good damage, and very quick to morph or dodge away Idk kf this is going to be usefuk for anyone. But here it is. And again, I'm not a master at the game, there's probably a lot of better strategies out there to use with the SA.
The most helpful thing I can recommend is to bring and use slinger ammo for Bursts. After Morph Slashes into Axe mode among other attacks, you can slinger burst in any direction, be that a tiny readjustment or a total 180. You can follow up with a Forward Slash, Fade Slash, Wild Swing or Morph Slash. Really helpful for positioning. Slinger Bursts should absolutely not be overlooked.
Also, follow-up. ZSD is stupidly forgiving against Alatreon. It ignores Lightning on horns and you can usually get some Clutch Claw ZSD damage off after the Aerial Ground Pounds without being punished. Just don't let it fully Discharge. Cut it early so you don't do the long recovery animation
😭😭😭
@mh_frieren , if you're the "worst swaxe player", then you must be switching between humble and unstoppable-just like that Switch Axe of yours!" 😎 ❤️
best in my heart anyways for doing the run
Now do it with hunting horn
You have brought this switch axe user to tears
