Happy new year from me to you! We talk about some of my favorite video games of this year, a lot of Shin Megami Tensei, and of course we read mean comments, everybody's favorite! The games I talk about aren't always from 2022 more like what I've played in 2022. Lets look over some of my comments from Legend of Zelda, Shin Megami Tensei, and what's in store for 2023!!!

Came back to say please don’t leave PG!! If you have the right marketing and team around you, 2023 will for sure be successful for the channel ✨ content is king and you have an audience, there’s ways to get the algorithm on your side. Don’t go 🥺😭
Came back to say, respectfully, that's a really bad idea. There are a few reasons why.
1. Marketing is not a science. There are a few rules that generally hold and a few best-practice changes that apply in some situations, but most of the successful stuff is intuitive. There's also a ton of luck involved. People hire marketing firms to achieve results they couldn't otherwise. Our friend Lady Pelvic here has her shit mostly figured out, IMO.
2. In the case of Pelvic Gaming, the videos are good because they're an expression of who she is, what she likes, what she reasonably expects her viewers (hers; not just any viewer) will like, and so on. There's a billion reasons why the algorithm might not be so hot on her. Any approach that attempts to catch its attention by displaying the behaviours that we can infer it wants everyone to follow means another step away from this being an artistic endeavour towards it being an ad funnel. It can be both conceptually, but it can't practically be both to equal degrees.
3. The audience you're talking about is a product to RUclips. It's devoid of intrinsic meaning in an advertising context. There's no reason to think the channel couldn't grow (just takes a bit of RNG luck) "organically" given the right amount of time. Eight years is a lot, yes. But the usual path towards financial success - outside of Patreon, which comes with way smaller problems than YT monetisation - goes: Sell audience to YT advertisers -> rewarded by algorithm -> audience grows and shifts character (ads and perhaps a new style put off old viewers, but many more people discover the channel) -> algorithm rewards the exact kind of "content" it wants, ignores the rest -> disillusioned channel creator (Punished Pelvic) makes a frustrated video about how the creative stuff with artistic merit that they want to be making doesn't make them any money, which at this point they depend on -> transformation from creative human being to "content creator" complete (usually with burnout in the foreseeable future).
@@MacJulian88 lol that’s a lot of negativity, sir. Judging by the 88 in your name, I’m going to assume that’s the year you were born. So, as a 34 yr old adult you should know that today marketing isn’t just luck, it’s a skillset that can be learned as well. I spent 6 months working in digital marketing and know ways on how to make this girl succeed, and I can tell she goes about creating content organically without consideration for reach and engagement. Outside of everything else you said, I know it’s possible for a channel to grow exponentially because of first hand experience - from what I know of her, she’s into art and doesn’t have much knowledge on advertising as a trade. That was the case for me years ago and truthfully, the marketing skills are transferable in the hobby she’s into on her second channel as well.

My username has always been 1ofthewizards, but recently a 330 was added to the end which I never chose in any way. You also have an 88 tacked on to the end of your username too btw.
Thank you for being so open and honest about your career on youtube. I haven't been with your channel since the beginning but I always watch your uploads when they come out. I love your point of view on RPGs and I love getting honest takes about games that I may or may not want to play. I hope your 2023 is everything you need. Love the transparency about your time with youtube. Take that break and rejuice re-energize regroup and we'll be waiting for your new journey!
Please don't leave PG! Love your conversational tone with your videos, as well as your openness and honestly. You've definitely found your voice and grown confident as a reviewer, it's a shame that the algorithm hasn't shown you love.
As someone who is about to start her first job in two days, I totally understand not feeling like you know your place in the world. I'm 29 years old, still live at home, only now just found my first job... adult living is incredibly hard and stressful. I can't imagine trying to navigate something like RUclips and agents and sponsorships, feeding the algorithm. Whatever you choose, I hope you find happiness!

As for the whole objective and subjective part, I absolutely hate when people can't differentiate between the two. Something you like doesn't make it objectively good and vice versa. Whenever I talk to somebody about a video game, a movie or a tv show this is something that drives me nuts when people can't grasp the difference.
Plus, how writing and story are different things. You can have a mix of both good and bad between those two. That's something that people often seem to struggle with too.
So yeah, two pet peeves of mine then, not one. :P
Your work deserves way more attention, certainly enough to make a living. Hope your 2023 lives up to that
Ran into one of your videos during a Parasite Eve phase this year, and I grew to LOVE your channel. You're damn good at this, great style and awesome presentation skills. Quite informative, too, you get into the details without dragging stuff out.

Hey! I wish you the best of luck in pursuing your art career! I found personally that I don't like to do commission work and greatly prefer working for studios, the stability and not having to deal with clients and chase them down makes it worthwhile, plus eventually you get to work on some pretty cool projects and can make some really good cash! That being said a bunch of my friends way prefer the freedom to take whatever projects they want whenever they want.
Make sure you don't downplay your success on RUclips though and leverage it for whatever industry you end up going into, (games, comics, animation, design, fashion... whatever) being able to articulate your thoughts and edit videos are super valuable skills.
I've been subbed to you for almost a year now and I never really commented much. But you are definitely my go-to person for JRPG reviews. Your videos are invaluable to me while I tackle my backlog. Thanks so much for the hard work! Sad to hear about your struggle with RUclips and such. I'm confident you'll get it figured out! Keep up the hard work and don't get complacent. Try new things and innovate your channel however you want!
I think you do excellent work. I’ve been following games and games criticism for 25 years and it’s not common for me to find creators/critics worth following, but you're one of them. I hope you can continue to do this but understand the balance of it may change based on what is financially and creatively fulfilling. Good luck with whatever you choose to do, no doubt you can do it.
Yeah, best Nina! I'm glad to see not only someone acknowledging my spirit animal, but also understanding that not everything (even most things) HAVE to be all good or all bad; life has a lot more nuance to it than that.
On a more serious note, it would be sad to see you leave RUclips, but you're still young; you do what you need to do to take care of yourself and chase your dreams. That's coming from someone whose youth has come and gone, and still doesn't know what she wants to be when she grows up; corporate drone's paying the bills for right now. Zoe Bee just put out a great video on this sort of thing called "The truth about being a content creator (or, "quit apologizing and be an artist")", and that might help. It's a hard place to be, and I wish you all the best on your journey, wherever it takes you.
I just want to say that I love your reviews and I hope that either you start seeing an increasing return on them or that you’re able to get that from a new venture instead. Your reviews are funny, insightful and fresh and I love watching your channel whether you’re loving a game I love, bagging on a game I also didn’t connect with (FFXII for instance), enjoying a game I didn’t or not caring for a favorite game of mine (like FFVIII). She quoted me! Thank you Pelvic Gaming, I stand by my comment to some extent, but it wasn't directed at you personally, it's my feelings in general, but I understand why you'd take it personally. Also, to be clear, I really like your channel and your in depth reviews and the fact that you don't necessarily just parrot popular opinion. I am an older gamer, I remember a lot of older game critics bemoaning the types of pressure PR companies would put onto their editorial staff to try to get certain types of reviews. It's a little worrying to see there is no buffer between the PR companies and the people writing the reviews now. It doesn't mean that anyone is compromised, it just means there is less oversight to make sure no one is compromised. My intention wasn't to leave a rude or discouraging comment, it was just a personal pet peeve of mine, and none of the youtubers are at fault, because you can't really blame people for making money any way they can when youtube does all it can to kill monetization.

This is so cool I was watching the 2022 nintendo life and GVG videos and thought "it was cool if LadyPelvic did one too". Sadly I will only whatch it tomorrow, since right now I'm in a party.
Even with the disagreement I shared with you once a long time ago, I can see the discussion was more than constructive enough. You value opinions but you're level-headed and quite true to your feelings which always make for a more enjoyable watch.
I also think your style lands quite well for the semi-short form review you do even for the bigger games since it forces a good spirit of synthesis to detail your experience without finishing as an overbearing long hour review.
No matter the projects that follow suit during this year, I hope you'll have the passion to go through with it just as much as what you did on your channel all those years 👍

Not sure how yt works to gain more views but maybe some collabs could boost numbers. Your reviews and content are top 10 easily and alot of others know it like taurks and super derek for example. Even one vid amount would be great for me, the art channel will help too as it can bring other fans to both your hobbies and your still doing it for fun and wont become work yet. Shame cause ive been saying recently damn pelvic and some others havent been updating as frequent, but its understandable. Really hope 2023 opens more doors for u pelvic your work and content represents so much to gamers and young black kids like me who honestly live this gamer and anime esque life haha. Regardless what you end up doing, just know you will always be one of my favorite RUclips personalities. I’ve always admired your honesty, passion, and energy you bring to each review/video. And hey, getting name dropped in a Valentine’s Day video and… I can’t remember the other one off the top of my head, was a plus. As a smaller creator I absolutely understand how you feel about trying to meet up algorithm expectations, working hard and trying to please the audience but ending up with diminishing returns, I've been thinking for a while that I should just create content now and then when I feel like it, instead of seeing it like a job, because it sure is a super low wage job.
Al I can say is that I wish you the absolute best, do follow your art passion, you might end up making a living or just being very fulfilled by it, for me RUclips and bread making were just like that, now I live off the latter while also enjoying the former. You're one of (if not) the realest reviewer out there. When you don't like a game like FFVIII or Xenoblade 2 it can be disheartening, but you always have very valid opinions and reasoning which are formulated in a great way.
I really hope you break big soon, but if you truly find something more successful that you love then go for it!! I'm sure everyone would understand.

I love how some people would rather tear down a creator, instead of just moving on to watch something else. There's 30,000 hours of new video content uploaded to RUclips per hour. People could easily find something else to waste their time on.

This was the 2nd video I've watched of yours. In all my years of checking YT for game reviews, today was the 1st time it ever suggested your channel. Found it when looking up reviews of Blossom Tales (Limited Run Games is doing a physical of the 2nd one, so I was seeing why I passed on the 1st one). Anyway, after watching that, I clicked into your channel & watched this video. I clicked that subscribe button & will check out other videos you've done. Bothers me a bit that YT had never suggested your channel before, since I see you've done reviews for several other games I've looked up reviews for, but don't remember seeing them in the results.
Anyway, new fan of the channel. Keep up the good work, when you return. I'll look forward to the art stuff too, if you decide to share that as well.

It's refreshing to see honesty and transparency in youtubers. Often times channels just end with no more uploads. While I don't want your content to end at least now we understand. Your health (including financial security) should always take priority. Do what you need to do and know that the real ones will support you
This is objectively your best 2022 recap video.
Don't feel down about your youtuber counts, while it sucks that it cuts into your dreams of making a career out of youtube it is not a reflection of the quality of your content.
These days lower viewership numbers just means the algorithm is shafting you, the people that do get mass views either capitalize on current popular things or somehow stumbled across what it is that makes the algorithm promote them more. You do videos for a niche nostalgic filled audience that appreciates what you do NEVER feel disheartened by your work you do great.
OBJECTIVELY speaking, you are the best!

I think it depends. Fire emblem unfortunately became mainstream for mechanics that I dislike. And now people complain that the new fire emblem doesn't have enough grinding stuff.

Yo for real, I appreciate the definition of subjective. No irony. I actually always have a pang of insecurity when I try to talk about it and worry I got it mixed up with objective. You're the best, Lady Pelvic! --- Hah um also yeah, please get your money with ads and sponsorships. I was about to jump on that like button but it was at 666 and I didn't want to be the one to ruin that moment. And also, holy Gaia, love your art the way you love yourself. I recently fell head first into a visual novel and haven't stopped drawing fan art for a second. You'll find your best way forward in the future, 'cause you rule.

I still love XC1&3 a whole lot, XC2 just spoke to me in a one-of-a-kind way I can't describe. I totally can understand why the other two games are more approachable for most people, but honestly all three are amazing games.
That aside, while of course I wouldn't want you to leave YT, I'll support you whatever endeavor your heart leads you to, and I love the art you've been posting on your Twitter!

I never really comment but I love this channel. Love the fact that Lady Pelvic is very opinionated and to be fair that's the reason I watch her content. Anytime I search a J-RPG review her videos come up. It would be sad if channel was to disappear or be deserted.

As much as I love your content, I understand that being a RUclipsr is brutal if you're doing it as anything more than a simple hobby. I won't fault you in the slightest if you decide it isn't right for you and either quit or limit your content to an amount you can do while still enjoying the process.

Think there are many people out there who would really miss your content. I understand though how things can get grating and cumbersome especially when comments get flooded by a minority of vocal children aiming to take every miniscule word you've said and somehow weaponize it to vindicate themselves....Weird people. Just know that the people like me most likely outnumber them and just enjoy the things you do...probably shouldn't be in silence though. So yea now Ill take the time to say I appreciate you keeping me entertained for many years. Keep giving it your all is all you can do really. Whatever you decide I support.
P.S. To anyone else besides Pelvic that reads this. She and I have had many differing opinions on games and guess what ? I took it on the chin and kept it movin ! Why ? Because Im normal...and the effort she put into her content showed regardless and it was an opinion i could RESPECT without needing to keyboard froth hot garbage to make myself feel better. Besides there's still many other things i agree with as well. We are all different types of beings. We don't need to get stuck trying bend everyone to our own personal whims. Just be decent is all.

I honestly don't get people who leave hostile/vitriolic comments like that xenoblade guy. It's YOUR opinion, not his, not mine. I like FF13 lightning returns, I'm aware most people hate ff13 and its sequels, its not gonna stop me liking the game or its finale.

It’s the name. I’ve seen your videos on my home page and never clicked them because of assumptions I made about the name. I didn’t take you seriously by default. Now that I’ve actually watched some of your videos, I see those assumptions were completely unfounded and I actually like you quite a lot.
It’s not YOU that is causing the channel to not take off. You’re intelligent, articulate, and genuine. I believe it is a branding issue.
I know you didn’t ask me for my advice, but I thought an honest perspective from a new viewer might be beneficial. I apologize if I’ve overstepped.

This is the first time I’ve ever commented on a video in all the time I’ve been hanging around on YT (since 2006!) so that should speak a little to the significance of doing so. Now that I’m done sounding like a narcissist, I understand the need to take a break and maybe even walk away. Burn out sucks and too often we ignore the signs instead of doing what’s healthy for us.
I watch a lot of game reviewers and you are definitely one of my favorites with fabulous outfits, eye catching lipstick, and a no fucks given attitude. Do I agree with all your opinions? Fuck no! Do I respect them still? Fuck yes! Mostly because you save me $50-$60. Kidding, it’s because you put effort and thought into why you have your view. Plus, you share your favorite music from a game, something that gets criminally overlooked.
I look forward to future videos and I’ll rewatch old ones to see if my opinion has changed. Whatever your decision is, I wish you all the best and I thank you for taking time to create worthwhile and entertaining content.

I found your channel about a year ago and really like your personality and the way that you review games. But i think maybe the types of games that you review are whats holding you back from getting the numbers that youre looking for. I cant imagine that niche (usually old) jrpgs are the fast track to youtube big bucks. Genre focus does work of course, but that usually comes with like series retrospective videos, in depth tutorials of your favorite games, or discussion on trends in game design. I know you discuss these things in passing in some reviews, but maybe if you took some of those elements out of the reviews and made them their own video, you could stretch out how many times your name attacks the algorithm. I dont know man, i just think it would suck if you left youtube.

awesome vid pelvic. this year was pretty rocky but hopeful next years certain game might be better overall. but what killed me the most is bayotte 3. its was aweful on my end. and the story with dmc nonsense and with the bs luke n bayo with viola was just never should have happen. .. still tho best im looking forward for a whole new year.

If you decide to leave RUclips, that's entirely understandable; this site is brutal these days. Views seem like they're falling for all but the largest creators, and making money here is getting harder. I personally have no problem with creators accepting sponsorships. Mistakes get made sometimes (such as the recent scandal with a certain "buy land in Scotland" scheme), but I mean, people have to make money, and making videos is work, so I see no problem with getting paid for it. You do you. If you stay, I'll keep watching. If you change, I'll keep watching. If you just switch to streaming entirely on Twitch or something, I'll keep watching. You make good stuff, and I want to support that, even if it's just with a view.

The "nothing against playstation, maybe xbox" made me more of a fan. And I can't stand when people get upset if you don't praise their favorite game or anything that aligns with their opinions. But you did a solid review of legend of dragoon which has been my favorite game since it came out I was 11 and you did a spot on review I agreed with 99% and didn't expect you to love the game as much as me because it doesn't have the nostalgic factor for you. Some people are just clowns. Anyway good luck un you endeavors hopefully you find a way to make YT work for you
