A bit of instant gratification. Looks lovely. Gypsy Boy should really think about writing a book of poetry. He really poured his heart and soul into that poem. I'm sure he has a number poineient instances he needs to get off his chest . Give that man a pencil and set him to express his feeling!
Hi Maria & thank you very much 😊 But I’m not sure we should be encouraging Gipsy boy to do poetry as I’m sure that’s all that’s in his head when he’s over watering my pots lol 😂 .. only joking 🙃 he had one published on line last month so he is doing very well 👌 I will pass your lovely message on to him 👍🏼he will be over the moon 🌙 😁 thank again & have a wonderful day 🌱 Chip
Thank you Evita 😁 yes I’m very pleased with how it’s looking, I just need to click & tidy it up a bit once it’s settled in maybe in a week or so 👍🏼 have a wonderful day 😊🌱 Chip
Hi Gord 👋🏼 & thank you for your message 😊 yes the trench makes planting the hedge so much easier for all the reasons you mention 👍🏼 have a fantastic day & all the best 😁🌱 Chip
Instant impact. You didn’t break the root ball when planting is that to keep it small and tight? How long can you keep them small like so? Would love to do this in the fall when all the boxwoods go on sale. Thanks!
Hi Garden Doodles & thank you for your message 👍🏼 I didn’t break the root ball on them as they were not really pot bound , just a very healthy root ball & the root just came away as I removed the pop so no need 🌱 I will be clipping the buxus at the same height so hopefully they will stay this size 🌳😁 all the best & have a wonderful day 🌱 Chip
Nice video. I just planted a similar amount of boxwoods at the same distance as you. I was worried as most other people seem to plant them a lot further apart. How are they looking now? Did they grow and merge nicely? Update video?
Hi Gary .. thank you for your lovely message & welcome to the channel 🤠 the buxus hedge would probably get as high as 16ft if I left it long enough 👍🏼 please feel free to share the channel with your gardening friends & have a fabulous day 😁 all the best 🌱 Chip
Hi Chip….just discovered your videos, you have a beautiful garden, do you have any problems with Box Tree Moth and the horrible Box Caterpillar….cheers..Mark…⭐️👍
Hi Mark & thank you for your lovely message 🤠 I have had a little problem with my boxwood balls but it seems to have cleared up it may have been box moth but unsure 🫤 fingers crossed its over, I may talk more about it in the upcoming episode 👍🏼 have a great one & all the best 🌱 Chip
Hi Chip thanks for the reply…Box caterpillar is rife in Cheshire, I work with huge amounts of Box hedging and topiary and to prevent it I use moth traps with pheromones and I spray the box about every two weeks with a product called…Dipel DF…, Xentari is the same and both kill the caterpillar’s…be extra vigilant as this pest will absolutely destroy Box …..hope this is of some help to you…👍
Hi Tracy & thank you for your message 😊 when I say (stay at this height) I mean I will be clipping it to stay at this height, sorry if it was misleading , have a fabulous day & happy gardening 😁🌱 Chip

Nice work! Digging a trench for planting a hedge is a great idea; makes it easier to set them all at the same height and to space them evenly!👍

Hi & thank you for your message, this is just a standard buxus, unfortunately I can’t find the label so no name 🌱 Chip
is a weed mat needed to keep the weeds?
Hi Shades , & thank you for your message, I don’t see why a weed mat would be needed so no 👍🏼 have a great one 🌱 Chip
