I would have loved to have had access to a creek such as that when I was a kid. I hope it's location is kept under wraps so the local people can enjoy it's amazing fish.
In the US there's a lot of invasives in the southern portion but in the northern part near Canada (where I'm at) the only thing that survives are goldfish and they grow massive, like 50cm massive.
Not so much to worry about, the American crayfish is already spreading and replacing the German "edelkrebs" for many years. In the river Main you can find a lot of American crayfish.
If you've already got people bringing in crayfish from Florida, my main concern would be people releasing snakes that used to be pets. People started doing that with Pythons in Florida and now they have taken over. It sounds wonderful as it is right now. I hope it stays that way. I hope the manager keeps an eye out for any snakes being released there. Thanks for the video
I don't think you should disclose the location for lots of reasons but mainly because people are horrible these days & you never know what they'll do. Great video as always. Thank you 😊
yes, sometimes people are difficult..but i will not give up the hope that 95 % of them will react reasonable. In the area this creek is known and plenty of hobbists will go there anyway.
Wow this is incredible, I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't seen it! I'd love to visit this place, it's beautiful and some of the mollies look unique and pretty amazing, they'd be good for breeding projects. Yeah those crayfish are bad news, I think we have a problem with them in the UK wiping out our own native species, at least they're good to eat so that's one way of reducing their numbers. Awesome video Chris, thanks!
Great vid! I like the thought of people coming to get fish for their aquariums, but definitely not the idea of people dumping fish FROM their aquarium. Keeping it a secret might be better for now. ThankS!
Most of the canal systems in florida are completely overrun with exotic fish species. Mostly central and south american cichlids as well as tilapia, common plecos, bullseye snakeheads and mollies. I also hear there is a problem with clown knifefish in florida lakes but i’ve never seen them.
Interesting creek, there's more such places in Europe but this one looks like Amazon river ! Taking guppies home it's risky for fish already living in aquarium. But if someone place wild guppies in aquarium dedicated to them it should be ok.
Not in Europe nor were they invasive but I went to Semuc Champey in Guatemala and the waters in the pools were filled with Firemouth and convict cichlids swiming all around. I saw something way bigger but couldn't get a clear view.
Fish reverting back to the original colour and fin length. That's evolution in action for you. They won't be noticed so quickly and when they are the length of their fins won't slow them down.
WAW...I WANT SOME GUPPY FROM THERE AND SHRIMPS AND PERHAPS SOME MORE FISH-SP :) GREAT IDEA :) IF THERE IS A WAY TO MANAGE THE PEOPLE'S ACTIVITIES IN A WAY OF EDUCATION AND FUN AND ENCOURAGING FOR A BETTER LIFE FOR ALL FISH AND OTHER AQUA ANIMALS THEN IT IS A GREAT PARK IDEA THAT I HOPE TO HAVE IN MY CITY ALSO :) I WONDER IF IT CAN BE DONE IN MY CITY AS A PARK WITH SERIOUS BEHAVIOR RESTRICTIONS :) THANK YOU FOR SHARING :) THANK YOU FROM ISRAEL :)
Cool video Chris! it's a shame what people do to nature, this looks like some of our creeks here in Australia around cities, in the cooler areas it doesn't bother me so much as they most die off in winter but in the more tropical areas they really compete with our native egg layer as they eat the eggs and fry, amazing to see this in Germany, I wouldn't of expected it.
Not such a big leak, the site was already reported in the scientific literature several years ago , and there are so many videos about it that is very easy to find if you do a tiny bit of research. Moreover, a paper is going to come out in the next months including that place and other around Europe, as I have been tracking the expansion of Neocaridina from thermal to cold waters. I have been monitoring the site since 2021, the problem is that not all the species are only confined to the water garden, moreover shrimps are infected with intracellular parasites that might cause problems if you take them home (takes around 24h to infect other shrimps).. So profiting from this video and Chris asking for more sites, I´m gladly joining in and I´m very grateful if you have information on other locations that have not yet been reported in the scientific literature (Erft in Germany, Oder in Poland, Miskolctapolca in Hungary).
What's??? Even that green Neocaridina is just like wild in that creek and free to catch it 😅. So, the predator there is only the duck 🦆 ? I'm sure, no crystal shrimp or any of their variants you can find there?
Where are the cichlids? Last video you had many different species of cichlids. Suddenly they're all gone and replaced with mollies and other live bearers lol
Just keep it quiet and don't disclose the area. When younger kids take these fish home and add them to the aquarium just place the newer fish in aquarium salt. This salt will fix fin diseases.
@@chrislukhaup And I can't see myself flying there and flying back with a suitcase full of fish especially since a lot of these would be cheaper to order or buy at petco. Would be awesome to live nearby though.
They fixed the pumps for some days so the warter cool down and all fish died. So think about it when releasing fish in Nature. Esp when you release them were they don t belong to. Fortunatly the tropical Species couldn t live is cold waters. What will happend with cold Water fish you could see when regarding the invasion of "Grundeln" or "Sonnenbarsche" or american Lobster that killed almost every native Lobsters here in Germany. Or look at wormer regions like Florida or Australia. It s such a horoble Idea imo.
Love your vids. Beautiful stuff.
thanx
Thank You for the video! I have watched several videos of this stream from different sources. Yours was very informative with great photography.
In Romania, In Băile Felix, there are springs with thermal water. An there are a lot of exotic fish in this pools.
oh..good to know. Next time i am going to Romania i will check. I was born there so it should not be difficult ;-)
Do you know if there are shrimps as well?
Was gonna say baile felix also 😂😂

You mean you don't want people catching the invasive fish?
no, like you said in the video, not sure its location should be made public for everyone to come catch them.
@@KettmanAquatic
@brad823 I don't see why not Herr in America invasive fish are taking over out water ways. If nobody stops it in Germany it will turn into Florida.
In the US there's a lot of invasives in the southern portion but in the northern part near Canada (where I'm at) the only thing that survives are goldfish and they grow massive, like 50cm massive.
Its been released years ago. I see no problem with it all. Thanks very much for sharing this with us all in the fish community.
great content i literally cant get enough of your videos man

i really liked the idea is an amazing pond :D

I Poland we have Neocaridina davidi in thermal waste water from Dolna Odra Power Station
Very cool !
Love it!

wouldn't've
Especially the gambusia problem we have here in Australia. They actually survive the cold here in Melbourne.
@@rnldmanuel88 Yes they are a real problem for a lot of our small native species.
I would always quarantine them in a "hospital" tank for several weeks coming from a wild environment to an enclosed environment.
I live in SW Florida. We have many invasive species of fish as well as reptiles.
Like...?

Also here the Jewel Cichlids are Rubricatochromis guttatus.
oh..ok. I am not very familiar with this species.
Cant find the place on google. Where is this hotspring with guppy’s etc? Please tell me. I want to go over there ❤️

tds too high and ph too i bet
Please can anybody tell what these fishes eat in nature?
it seems that people feed them...there is a lot of kids comming there
Omg is that guppy grass ?
Yes, najas
Thanks for sharing. This
problem (invasive species) has no solution, I'm sure. Not all people understand and not all people are responsible
invasive species are a problem all over the world. i can remember catching goldfish on a line when I was young and I am much older now.
No malawi fish ?
Oh those crayfish will wipe out any other invertebrates in that whole system. Sad but true.
I would be more concerned of having these fish acclimated to aquarium conditions ( pH, TDS, hardness). But it's perfectly doable.
I prefer the woman’s voice as narrator
Where is this in Germany?

different location
It's ok to get some fish from creek, but I think you need to have fine to someone who release fish
