Since the leaping-one-shot-uppercut that Rick Bruiser has wasn't shown here, what would that look like with this A.I. exchange? Would the same sprites be called, or different sprites? Or does the game just crash because one of the sprites aren't compatible?

As the game didn't load the code referring to the fighter's ID, the sound is simply not activated, and it still turns off the sound of the whole game.
It just happened, because I modified the addresses referring to artificial intelligence.
