    Love the audiophile word salad at the end. Got most of the clichés in, I think.

    I've been looking for something like this for a while. Having a knob to twiddle every time I get the urge is marvellous! ;)

    As my father use to say many times, "it's more trouble than it's worth". This device fits that saying perfectly.

    Reminds me of the Bose speakers turning puck volume control, i was thinking of this in my head why haven't they made a turning knob for volume so we can use it from a distance and now I see this, finally made it !

    If a volume knob has a "sound," it's defective..😂

    I see they also correctly implemented the secondary function of a volume control ... That is to turn things _Down_ Well enough done.
    In the subjective portion, the girls nailed it ... "I don't understand what it means" ... followed by the actual explanation. Also well enough done.

    Can’t wait for Randy CAM’s review of this groundbreaking device that annihilates all volume controls that have gone before it.
    Until the V2 with with swappable OPamps, of course. We boomer audiophiles have kong known the the English language lacks sufficient superlatives to describe what Fosi and WiiM are delivering on a regular basis.

    So, the joke is that people will believe that the volume control knob will have an effect upon the audio quality, much as they may believe that ridiculously expensive cables will make audio sound better, too. At no point will the audio be routed through the Bluetooth volume control knob so, naturally, it will impart no coloration onto the audio.

      It's actually not even a volume control knob ... it is a rotary encoder that accesses the digital volume control in the device.

    • @steven2809
      @steven2809 2 месяца назад

      @@Douglas_Blake_579Well it controls the volume then...QED 😂

      @@steven2809
      Indirectly yes. It's actual function is to interface with the DAC chip and modify the register controlling it's gain. The effect of manipulating volume is a secondary result of that action.
      The audio signal never passes through the external knob device.

    • @davidkennerly
      @davidkennerly 2 месяца назад

      @@Douglas_Blake_579 A "volume control knob" can just as easily be a digital encoder. If I had said that it was a "pot," instead, that would be incompatible with it being an encoder since "pots" (potentiometers) are, strictly speaking, variable-resistive devices. A "volume control knob" is any kind of rotary device to control volume.

    It appears to be a remote control of the built in volume control system on the device it is paired to rather than actually controlling audio directly, thus any “sound” of the device will be the sound of the device being controlled, if the controlled device has a poorly designed attenuator, then it will sound bad.
    Also the level adjustment steps will be dependant on the device being controlled, I find that the iPhone volume level steps are generally too corse, so it’s more often too loud or too quiet than just right.
    I wonder how the clicks on the Fozi volume control track with the steps of the iPhone attenuator?

    It's a freaking digital volume control controller. It does not touch the audio, it controls the D to A converter. So there should be no effect on the audio quality only level unless the D/A converter is really screwed up.

    I knew it. You slipped up on your background and revealed your home planet. You're an alien. Irritating unboxing music is a master plan to first rise to the top on UK's Billboard. Poor Gilmour, doesn't stand a chance. On a side note what's wrong with a volume knob or just using supplied kit? At first I thought when I saw this advertised it was a motorized unit that replaced the volume knob on the kit and you sat back and remote controlled that. Looking forward to Greatest Hits of Irritating Unboxing Music. Your British invasion of the U.S. is next.

    Audio nonsense aside, this is another product that will last as long as the manufacturer supports it, the standard doesn’t change, and/or the lithium battery survives, or whatever battery they chose can have replacements sourced.
    After being burned on quite a few items in the early 2000s, anything that uses non-removable and/or bespoke batteries or uses tech that requires a driver or even a particular generation of comms connection is considered a throw away item. Sure, the drivers and their requisite computer OS subsystems are moving more slowly than they were in the 2000s but manufacturers know that extreme obsolescence like this (they don’t just wear out from use, they wear out even if stored pristine in their over-engineered packaging without being used) means increased sales over time if we, the consumers, don’t twig to the waste involved in buying something for maybe 1000s of pounds that will be a paper weigh in 5, 10 or 15 years.
    For my electronic and electric instruments, that almost always only leaves analogue equipment. Now, I’m no Luddite, far from it. And I think digital recording and instrumental tech like modellers have sounded as good as what they are trying to replace for about a decade at least.
    But the equipment I have that still works exactly as intended with every feature it can with typically does not have a network connection.
    Guitars, microphones, amplifiers that don’t have a computer in them, even some computerised stuff like digital synthesisers made before the age of networking.
    I have a few 20+ year old Yamaha digital sound makers that will no longer connect to my computer recording system because they require a serial port. And even if I went out and bought an RS232 serial board for my computer, the Yamaha drivers stopped working about Windows XP (or Mac OS9). Luckily I can still use MIDI for most (but not all) of these but Yamaha is one of the better companies when it comes to maintaining support.
    Do I sound like I’m whinging? Too right! When I bought my Roli expression keyboards and my PodXT Pro system I envisioned them lasting as long as my amplifier, my guitar or my Roland analogue synthesiser keyboard. This obsolescence sucks and we’re all eating it up.

    What a useless device, I would somehow have to pair it with my Volumio box to control my HiFi, but then I go and play a CD.... oh it does not work.
    Even the 'Master of Masterclass' could not get it into his audio stream...
    It's just a minimalist 'control surface' that has to be individually paired with everything you use - assuming every source has bluetooth.. The only up side is now, finally, there is a use for bluetooth in high-end audio.
    So when your in your listening position, you might as well just have your phone at your fingertips, and use it to control things, as your way more likely to be able to do that than use this ....
