Science classes are the most important when it comes to applying for dental hygiene school. I always suggest all A’s in this subject so you can be competitive for the program. If you have time to retake the class I suggest it, BUT make sure you read the rules of the school you are applying to. Hey! Any advice for someone who failed 1 of their prerequisite classes 2 times smh🤦🏾♀️ do you think they will bush Me to the side. I’m aiming to take it again but have a better work ethic this time
Academic success is a large portion of getting into DH school, but so is determination☺️ Im sooo glad you haven’t given up! Now I will say in my program if we have to take a class more than twice they began to take points off of your overall application score which is used to determine if you are called for an interview. So If this is something you really want it is best for you to confirm if there are any repercussion for retaking classes, if there are you should retake the class and strive for an A. Also make sure that you do well on the entry exam that your program requires and all of your other prerequisites. Consider retaking any classes that you may have gotten b’s or c’s in as well if there are no consequences for retaking a class only once. These programs can be competitive and you want to be confident when you are applying😊 I failed PE like twice friend 😂 You can always academically recover, but you have to be ready and determined💪 Good Luck and let me know if you have any other questions.

Thank you so much again I’m hoping they don’t brush me off because they see the number of times I failed the bio but on the bright side I still have the other prerequisite classes to take so I’m happy I just filled one course and not multiple courses lol!
There really isn’t a way to study. It’s a skills reasoning test so just go with your gut and don’t spend too much time choosing answers or you may run out of time. Good luck!☺️
Hi great question! I really enjoy dental hygiene, but doing things like dental charting can be frustrating only because I’m not so great at telling the difference in dental materials yet. Radiographs can be difficult as well, but I’m kind of getting the hang of it.
When are you applying? Do you have time to retake the class? Does your hygiene program allow you to retake classes without consequences? Because those things will matter. I’m in a very competitive program, but we also just went from a class of 15 to a class of 24. I had all A’s and was selected for an interview. This is something I would reach out to the program Director about. 1. it’ll show them how serious you are about getting into the program and 2. they will also probably volunteer even more valuable information. I believe in you I know you can get into your program even with a B, you just have to nail that interview❤️😊 BUT definitely reach out to someone in the program or the program director for help!
Don’t worry! You just have to kill that interview. Manifest it! It’s already yours. It sounds crazy but sometimes you really just have to send out that good energy and it will come back to you😉 Good Luck 🍀
uh/: as someone who is a regular user of marijuana i would like to ask at what period or time during the program is the drug test/: I start my pre req in Jan and just wanted to know so I have time in advance for my T break:/
The drug test portion came after I was accepted into the program. I was accepted in April had a meeting in May and had to submit my drug test and background check by June. Friend, it may be hard but just quit. I know it is a medication for some folks but if you don’t live in a legal state you could be subject to being released from your program and that’s not a risk you want to take after you’ve invested so much time and money. You’ve got time so don’t worry. Good luck with your prerequisites! Make sure you get good grades the first time, it will help you immensely! Also DM me on insta if you need any other tips or tricks☺️

I pass bio with a B but the lab is what I was struggling with And I used to be an athlete but I stopped playing last year and honestly when I played sports being a dental hygienist was not on my list if I’m being honest and that’s when I failed my bio lab class two times however, now that I know that this is what I want to do when I take these courses with my last year of school, of course, I’ll put in the effort and studying correctly, and strive for an a no nothing less than to b! But I also heard, and this might not be the case with some dental programs, but I’ve heard having a bachelors in healthcare really can be a bonus when applying for dental school/the dental hygiene program. Thank you so much again I’m hoping they don’t brush me off because they see the number of times I failed the bio but on the bright side I still have the other prerequisite classes to take so I’m happy I just filled one course and not multiple courses lol!
I am about to take the HSRT and I am so nervous. Are there any tips or ways to study for this thing?
There really isn’t a way to study. It’s a skills reasoning test so just go with your gut and don’t spend too much time choosing answers or you may run out of time. Good luck!☺️
Which procedures would you enjoy doing the least as dental hygienist, and why?
Hi great question! I really enjoy dental hygiene, but doing things like dental charting can be frustrating only because I’m not so great at telling the difference in dental materials yet. Radiographs can be difficult as well, but I’m kind of getting the hang of it.
Was there a lot of calculation and physics? I suck at figures.
On the HSRT exam? No, it’s more of a reasoning test there definitely could be some math, but it’s not super complicated☺️
As a Black man going into hygiene
I’m applying this semester!! I have all A’s but one B in A&P 2 should I be worried?!!
@@RDHMichael I’m actually applying to Lone Star but have one B😔
@@RDHMichael thank you so much , i Appreciate you for telling me. I’ve already started the process of quitting because of how big of an opportunity this is for me. And I’ll make sure to dm you. Again thank you:)
Did you work while in dental hygiene school?
Im not working while in school, but it’s not impossible. I knew I wanted to do the hygiene program so I saved up money for two years so that I don’t have to work and honestly that’s still not enough I had to get some student loans. But because I really care about school, working while in the program wasn’t really an option for me. Hope this helps☺️
Can a foreign DDS, do a dental hygiene program in US?
@@saidarashid8493 Yes you can! I’ve met a few RDH who were Dentist back home. I also have come across a few of them on RUclips and they will have some valuable information for you if that’s the path you’re thinking of taking☺️
@@RDHMichael thank you so much for your response. I will definitely like to get help from them.

I came across this video yesterday, hope it helps!
@@RDHMichael thank you
Can you just do all prerequisites online ?
Yeah you can! Depending on what kind of learner you are that could be easy or pretty difficult, especially with science courses like anatomy and chemistry.
I took my a&p 1 online last spring and taking my second a&p this semester online. The lab helps because they have diagrams online to help you study.
I have friends who are tarot readers****
And do! How did I forget smh🙃
