I just had the episode, driving at I95 and lost brakes , managed to get out and go home , also making noise! Dealership says that was a vacuum pump that give up! I know is a Recall for the brake booster for early models on the Malibu but isn’t a recall yet for the 2022 ( my car) so nothing they can do as the warranty already expired! 😮not only has no brakes but the pierce of the pump ending up to the motor and braking the camshaft! Now o have a car that I’m paying for but not working at all! 😢

No no no, calliper brakes has their fluid run on both piston, the whole cage doesn't move like that
Most calipers have one or 2 piston on 1 side. You are referring to some higher end calipers with pistons on both sides. Both exist.
Most calipers only have one piston and the whole assembly moves on slide pins. Fixed calipers with up to, I think, 6 pistons are rare.
