Yes, it makes sense. since last 50 years I have been playing guitar and bass. apart from different band width amplifiers and speaker system, my observation, rather most of the musicians have observed that best clean and melodious amplifiers are Valve set followed by transistorized (NPN) and the last choice is IC based. Due to this musical amplifier makers are still making tube amplifiers and as the extreme end musical amplifiers are having 'simulated tube sound' Just imagine that musicians on tour carry extra tubes valves, as tubes can get destroyed due to glass body. Tubes give deep rich clean tone, IC based amps give dry flat tone, amplification is secondary in importance. Cost cut is achieved by using individual low amplification amps and the directing their output to mixed and high wattage master amplifier. However musicians prefer using their own 'stand alone' high power amps.
most of guitarist prefer tube amplifier due to soft clipping , but today tube amplifier is outdated because of cost and high power consumption compare to transistor amplifier. last year i visited to guitar classes at Nagpur where i see a AHUJA make tube amplifier 40 years old in working condition , and i surprised with sound quality, it was very clean and 100% hum and noise free
@@AmplifierWorld Yes availibility of tubes is a problem. And carry extra is a bigger problem. I have RCA 100W RMS. Its rectifier EZ 80 blew off so I made a bridge of BY-127, though Now I play in Peavey MAX 115 model 300RMS custom So I can use it on 220V directly. It has tube emulator to mimic tube amp. but output sounds a bit dry in comparison to RCA.
tube adds distortion . it does not produce clean sound. but the distortion of tubes are very different from transistor distortion and they sound good at clipping. thats why many prefer the tube for the heavy distortion.

Sir mujhe Sony MHC 2000 old model hai wo system stk based agar mein uske ager transistor laga du to sound quality achi nahi ayegai uski stk mil nahi rhi hai speaker ke wire ager apas me touch hi ho Jaye to stk kharab ho jati hai ya resistance kharab ho jati hai. Push power aa jata hai mera sawal hai ki sound quality achi ho STK amp base ki uske liye kya kiya jaye nahi to is Sony ke speaker ke liye koi amplifier bataye jo mujhe sound ki quality wahi mile

I think harmonic distortion is dependent on various parameters like quality of power supply, pcb matarial, electromagnetic interference, driven load....etc.

For me the Transistor is the best for durability and it can take abuse ; about Ic-chip I have never seen an Ic-chip amplifier used in a live concert stage cause its a less power audio and so fragile, , the Ic-chip is good only for a medium power home listening level..

The truth is that IC not all but few give true audio quality with very high resolution not normally seen by transistor. I mention LM 3886 give audio quality much superior than transistor like 3055 3773 etc. LA 4508 the only IC I heard sound unmatched with any system in the world in resolution with accurate signal shape but noise is higher here but frequency response is not even found in HD audio. I don't understand why people run after power and not quality and resolution.

Namaskar. Kya khoob information di hay aap ne. Aqal ka tala bilkul khul gaya. Kuchh bhi ho, Transistor Amplifier is best. Only thing fault findings matters. Whereas ICs are only replacement to the original, not to be exactly substituted. STK ICs are great. THD is less may be 0.01%.

Sir मेरे पास एक telecone tc1350 मॉडल का एम्पलीफायर है जिसमें kd998 kb778 के दो जोड़े लगे हैं और इको mic का ऑप्सन है लेकिन मोड के लिए तीन ऑप्शन हैं usb, dvd, mic लेकिन जैसे ही mic सिलेक्ट करता हूँ तो usb मोड बन्द हो जाता है तो मैं karaoke use नहीं कर पाता और जब मैं usb, mic दोनो को सिलेक्ट करता हूं तो फिर mic कार्य नहीं करता मैंने अंदर कनेक्शन करने कोशिश की लेकिन हो नहीं पा रहा please help करें
Sir, Meri requirement 60 watts per channel (2 channels total) hai. Aapke according 50 watts tak IC aur iske upar ke liya Transistor better hai. Aur Maine suna hai LM3886 68 watts deti hai, aur bhut hi sweet sound hoti hai iski. Please suggest me something

Power supply wala video dekhiye...usme bataya hai... split supply wale ko single supply se chala sakte hain... lekin circuit modify karna padega. 4558 me jo positive input pin hoti hai agar waha pe + aur - se same value ka resistance laga ke zero volt kar dene se ye chalega...yaha pura explain karna mushkil hai.

Nice video. I want to mention a point in favour of an IC amplifier. A transistor needs proper biasing while an IC doesn't require it.
Personally I prefer the transistor sound especially the sound produced by the old Germanium.

Frequency response is better in IC. Like LA, 4508 IC I think I don't find such signal in any amplifier in the world true audio shape, atual frequency but high noise figure still very true audio listening
