Some time ago, I heard someone, whose name I can't remember, say that we have to listen to what students want. I say this because we very often say that we have to teach our students the way we think it's best based on the latest tendences to teaching in the world; and we very often hear our students asking for more grammar. Don't get me wrong, I am a big advocate of the belief that grammar is a means and not a goal in language teaching and/or learning; but the truth is that a lot of listening, reading, speaking and writing is conducted in English classes at the expense of accurate grammar, all this based on the wrong idea that the current communicative approach means giving students more fluency activities rather than accuracy activities. The thing is that they should go hand in hand. Believe it, that's what our students want.
You're really amazing professor . I write well and i understand almost everything when someone is speaking but the problem is that i find it very difficult to communicate i make mistakes that i'm aware of and feel like i need more time to compose a sentence or translate from my native language to English i hope that you will provide me with some good advices to improve my communication skills and speak automatically
