    I’m at the moment to buy a new bike. And I was hesitating between 2013 F6B (red, no cruise control, no reverse) and new Goldwing bagger. I agree with all your points.
    Thanks for this comparison. Very useful.

    Picked up a 2015 F6B Deluxe this spring and rode it from Bakersfield to Colorado that day, Never thought I'd buy one of these things, never thought I'd ever want cruise control or highway pegs, both a huge plus on longer rides. Motor pulls like a Cummins so will be remedying the one major flaw soon by installing Henry's final drive, Honda brain farted this one. The motor craves 3k-3.5k at 80-90 (cruising speed) not 3.5k-4k. Not changing the final drive ratio from the big Goldwing for the F6B's "new demographic" was a major miss. Never say never? I wouldn't be caught dead towing a trailer with a motorcycle nor converting one to a trike, I'll buy a convertible.

    Sir, you are spot on correct in your review of old vs. new. I purchased a 2019 Goldwing (Bagger) after selling my 2013 F6B a year ago. Rode the 2019 for 1 month and sold it. Found a 2017 F6B and have never looked back (for all the reasons you've highlighted). Great job, happy riding!

      Great story glad you got your bike back! And kind of nice going from that 13 to 17, do you notice that you don't have that morning hesitation when you first start it up and drive off, it was a small thing but my 13 would just kind of lose gas for a second on the first 30 seconds of the ride. But my 16 never does that, not to mention the better sounding side pipes! Thanks for watching and enjoy that great ride

      Great! I love my 2013 until I broke the transmission! I think I mentioned this in the video, just be careful when you downshift make sure you downshift firmly before giving gas, once it starts jumping out of gear, your 2013 is toast on the transmission, they can call it whatever they like on the forums, ghost shifting Etc, bottom-line the transmission is bro, supposedly they strengthen the fork whatever's in the 2014 and above, but I would just take it easy, I think I did a specific video on shifting, you might want to find it. But anything F6B is definitely hitting it out of the park!

    Any generation, responsibly maintained or new Gold Wing is a winner. Solid, reliable and smooth. Install a set of LED main headlights and your set. Bike has super visible color and blacked engine and lowers looks fantastic. I’m on my 3rd Gold Wing and never understood the need to have drink holders on a motorcycle. Ride safe and ride often. Life’s short, just buy the bike.

    Great vid, Like you I love my 2015 B Deluxe, I am the original owner it has 14K on the clock and rides like a champ. I see no need to upgrade to a newer model; I don't need all the Bells and Whistles, all I need are open roads, In addition insurance on the new bikes is about $800 a year, I pay $696 for two bikes. My other bike is a 2009 HD FLHT with a S&S 110. Enjoy what you ride that's the bottom line.

    Got to agree with everything that you said John, I can't get over Honda shrinking the size of the new Gold Wings so much! Nice bikes for sure but I don't consider them a full-size tourer anymore, especially for 2-up. If I didn't have a passenger I would be OK with the new GW but when I think GW I'm thinking roomy and lots of luggage capacity.
    In a perfect world I would have my F6b and the new Gold Wing sitting in my yard but that's not ever going to be my reality, so if I have to settle on just one bike the F6B ticks pretty much all of the boxes.
    But I'm sure that those new Gold Wings are a fun ride, maybe I'll get a chance to try one out this summer if my dealer has a demo days or something.

I also got my new old stock 16 over the 18s when they came out. Really glad I got the 16 over the new gen. It's not perfect but it's close to it! Bigger windshield was necessary after a year or so (I also went MadStad but it, too, isn't perfect). Added the OEM center stand and passenger seat. But that's all I've done for now.

    I had an ‘07 GL1800 for 9 years and 65K miles. I just sold my ‘18 Tour DCT last week, after 22 months and 7800 miles of trying to fall in love with the thing.
    I’m picking up a 2016 GL1800 next week, doing a “fly and drive” to pick it up. It’s a 14 hour ride home, and I couldn’t be any more excited! I plan on two 12 hour days right in the middle, circling Arkansas. I had ZERO interest in such a ride on my 2018.

The seat was just too wide for me, and I hated the low, and close ratio gearing.. at 45 mpr I was already in high gear (for best comfort).. too low gear.. and jerky throttle response compared to the 1900 Stratoliner. On my F6B, the stereo speakers on mine were poor too. I didnt hear if you have Electronic cruise control or reverse.

    You're one of the rare few who actually recognizes beautiful body lines, colors and curves. You wouldn't believe how many buyers and enthusiasts have no taste and no discernment about anything. Most people still haven't realized that the most beautiful Sportbikes were made during 1998 to 2002. And sadly, most people still haven't realized that motorcycles have horrendously low (completely incorrect) final drive gear ratios for USA 80mph Interstate touring. New isn't always better, and in the case of gear ratios, the 1932 Henderson had a proper overdrive transmission.

      @johnk12345100  4 года назад +1

      Well just like any new car or motorcycle the first year they come out there's going to be Kinks that need to be worked out! I would really think about looking at a 16, last year they made them in this thing feels so much more solid then the 13 did! The transmission feels so much more tighter, again I think they put some more strength in the forks or whatever but it helps that transmission stay good! Not only that but you'll have cruise control, and if you think this is going to be the forever bike like it is for me, definitely get the deluxe so you don't have to add the center stand on your own, and you get the backrest with the turn signals that shut off automatically. I'm happy I got my 13 as it kind of helped me learn about the motorcycle, but I would definitely suggest 16 Deluxe for anybody new coming in.

    Dude I lived with it for 2 years on my B. The stock suspension is garbage. Honda probably spent $200 bucks on a 800lb bike.Then I went to Georgia for the traxxion update. Nothing can compare. So much safer, and more comfortable. Totally different bike. In the mean time, shim that anti dive valve. Big step. Good video pal!

    • @johnk12345100
      @johnk12345100  4 года назад

      Yeah believe it or not I'm okay with the stock suspension, I've started riding with my tire pressure a little bit lower than recommended, and have my shock set at half the manual 32 notches I think that are available, and I feel at my wife feels pretty good on it! I've disabled the anti dive on my other wings, and really don't see any difference, the only time that the anti dive kicks in when you're going over bumps with the Pedal brake engaged, I've learned to ride with the front brake in case of bumps to protect my Forks. I could never ever see paying that traxion 3,000 to $4,000 ticket to improve what I'm okay with, but I'm glad you enjoy it! A lot of people Rave about it for sure

It's "lines" as you stated couldn't be more true also. The tough look where the air intake is and the solid seamless look from the back with all the symmetry and balance is unreal!!
    Is it just me But why in the hell would they completely change the flawless looks from the '17 to the '18??? They could've added the convenient and substantial upgrades "WHILE" retaining the flawless looks and practical size luggage!! What are your views?? Was it a must to redesign the structure to accommodate the features Or did the design professionals "think" the goldwing riders wanted a Glorified sport touring bike??? I frankly prefer the mean looking bagger image
