How old should a person be before they can make their own decisions regarding their sexual partners without government intervention? I felt comfortable in my mid teens, personally, and age of consent was 14, it's now 16 here. I still waited until I was 18 but I didn't feel any more "mature" mentally to make that decision, it was just coincidence and confidence level that had me wait. We had pretty good sex ed in school so that probably helped, and it was during the AIDS epidemic so there was fear of that.

The way the board asked questions so matter of fact probably shouldn't be seen as them not taking the job or the crime committed seriously. They might well have come into this with no likelihood of granting parole but have to 'go through the motions' with the applicant anyways. The process can look like they are on the offender's team but truly in a situation like this the odds were really against parole being granted. I suspect they had more info in their files about what this guy was found guilty of and asking him about it as they did was a way to find out if he can acknowledge his crimes. He failed even before his victim spoke.

I love how when the board denies some one, they part with "Good luck to you!". Its like saying "tough crap sicko...now back to the jungle with ya"!

Just the fact that he is in denial of his crime should keep him in prison. Shame on those ignorant men on the Board, they had no respect for the victim.

Shame on the State of Louisiana for not inundating convicts with rehabilitation programs from day one of incarceration! In this day and age of AI there is no reason why not! Leaving any type of rehabilitation progrums until the end of sentence is doing society a disservice!! The SO progrum I heard is a self pace anyway- no great insightful psychiatrist or professionals leading some grad scientific insightful group session! Kudos to survivor speaking up and the Board for believing! TY Mandoo 🐢

I dont see the board as disrespecting her or not standing up to him for the prisoners response. They let him say what he did, because him denying what happened, works against him getting paroled. So they basically just let him dig his own grave.

What kind of scumbag was he at 30 even dating a 17yr old? Not that I believe that! All he was focused on was insisting they WERE dating. Zero accountability for whatever it was he really did. One doesn’t get 10 YEARS for nothing.
The board should’ve ordered him to get his HS diploma AT LEAST.
I hope Miss Daniels got therapy, and support. I can only imagine what she dealt with. I wish her a good life.
