JASON MORAN/
ROBERT GLASPER DUO
The tune is "Retrograde" by Jason Moran
This recording gives me goosebumps
TWO HOUSTON LEGENDS
H-TOWN STAND UP!!!!
30 seconds in and I already love it!
absolutely brilliant...living legends!
I’m SPEECHLESS🙌🏽 What A GLORIOUS PAIRING ♥️♥️♥️
What's amazing is Robert Glasper's technique, which he almost always keeps under wraps in his more commercial recordings. I'm very new to Glasper, and found him playing opposite Jason Moran, whose playing I do know and admire a lot. I then went to Glasper's trio, and Glasper playing solo. I actually like this concert best. I'll have to look up "pacman noise" since I'm a senior - though a former jazz pianist - and sometimes I don't know the lingo.
Beautiful
I was privileged to see them both on the Blue Note cruise last week. I was hoping they would play together but it didn't happen.
Dos genios !!!!
I was just thinking the other day, "These two guys need to play together."
Jordi Faxon Same 😂
We were all in high school together, but this is the first time I've heard them play together. Robert and I were three years behind Jason. We went to the High School for Performing and Visual Arts in Houston, Texas. They're famous and I can almost find my car keys every morning. :P
Who remembers Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea back in 1980?
And they reunited again back in 2012....
I do & both concerts.are.in.my collection.
Wow...what a treat!!!
Grandiosi
GENIAL!!!
super
4:54 so good
robert glasper... the only guy to play the pacman noise on piano as jazz
I know Where you're going with That - But still: A bit Coarse!
You mean the thing that he starts doing at 7:51, right? I personally really like the effect. The issue is just that he does it a lot, and it's too distinctive for anyone who listens to him a lot to fail to notice that he does it a lot.
!!!!!
Moran would make playing a typewriter sound good
Are they playing blue skies in the beginning?
JM >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>RG. But the latter way more famous. Sad.
My impression is that Mr Moran plays with everyone and finds a way to connect and collaborate, while Mr Glasper tends to play with a cohort of like-minded players. But that might be unfair.
Why does it have to be a comparison???
@@mellotones because Robert Glaspar is far, far, far more famous than Jason Moran
@@TehWinnerz All I’m saying is they’re playing together because they clearly respect each other and you’re making it into a competition 🤷🏾♂️
?
Beautiful
