You can make your own playlists with 5000 ballads if it suits you. You can change the channel or not listen to radio. Ballads never ruled the charts - even in the 40's, 50's and 60's when musical promotion was in its infancy and charts were for radio only. You can support this kind of music and not bash other types. Music has, and always should be, diverse in tone and genre.
