I feel like this song is about thinking you have a connection with someone, when really you don’t, and you need to stop convincing yourself that something is so much deeper than what it really is
ouch, exactly my situation right now and you conveyed it into the words I didn’t even know I had, in a way I didn’t know I felt until I read your words and felt chills. Feels like an absolute inner battle between what my heart wants and what my common sense knows- that he doesn’t love me, and that deep down, I don’t love him in the way you should love a soulmate- because he isn’t mine. He’s the person I want to want, he’s been in his home country for 6 months, and I just miss him, but I’ve always known the connection is just in my head. Or rather, my heart. Thats where I am right now, engrossed in this romantic fantasy we build in our heads where we are loved by this wonderful person and they are loved by us, and the reality- that it was never even real. It really hurts. As Lizzy says in this beautiful song, I am drawn to him. Every time.

@@ciarab4835 oh I know what you mean I felt this some years ago and it´s so freeing tell your heart that you deserve better. If he loved you he would have shown you this and otherwise he´s not the right man. But I can still feel how hard it is to stop this beautiful dream.
@@Anna-dl8my thank you so much Anna, you’re so right, I would never want to be in a relationship with someone who didn’t love me back, the way I deserve to be loved. He’s wonderful, and I will always treasure our friendship, always. In the meantime I have to stop myself from dreaming about him, but as you said, ultimately my heart will feel more free when I accept it for what it is. Thanks for your experience friend :) xx

She’s singing my pain. My experience. My situation. It’s a beautiful thing how music can do that... Listening to this song for the first time, it was almost like she was narrating how I’ve been feeling about this boy I can’t seem to let go.
But that first lyric haunts me: “Why am I pulled to you?” -because I wish I had an answer Lizzy, damn 😭
I hope you’re doing okay friend, I’m in a similar situation and it’s extremely painful, I wish I had better advice to give you but know that if they don’t love you in the way you love them, even if they’re a lovely person, they’re not right for you. But be his friend, friendship can blossom into love and who knows? A few years down the line, you might be more than friends. Keep hope, but live your life in the meantime. @@graceedits3118 I’m really glad to hear that you’re doing better, little by little. Well I’ll find out how it goes next month, when I see him for possibly the last time. He’s going back to his home country, and I’ll just miss him so much. Three years I’ve known this wonderful man, I realised how I felt in June and since then I have only felt more intensely in love every day I spend without him. Over analysed every touch, every time he put his hand on my shoulders, every funny face pulled and silly joke that we both know makes no sense but we laugh at anyway.
Grace, he told me I’m a cloud person. I have no idea to this day what that means, but the way he said it, the seriousness in his voice and the kindness written on his face- it was the most beautiful thing anyone has ever said about me. So I will tell you how it goes when I see him next month when we say goodbye, and hopefully I can get some closure. You’re a lovely person for taking an interest, and I promise to let you know how it goes, please feel free to do the same if you need to. Proud of you x
