Getting ready to combine a queenless hive w a strong hive, my first time, thanks for your help!
Loosing sleep, yes! Recently, I checked on my bees at dusk and noticed it was being overrun with red ants. So I immediately treated and kept waking up during the night wondering if the treatment had worked and what was I going to find in the morning. Fortunately, I had gotten the situation under control before any damage. I enjoy your videos, thanks for posting.

@@FernvalleyFarm I plan too, but right now I live in an apartment and there's nowhere to put a hive. I'm hoping to move to the country in a couple years.

Thanks so much - the same thing happened to me (queenless, tried re-queening in the same manner as you, no luck) and I felt really bad about losing the hive. Will try your technique.

I do think about my bees like you said...
Do you not think it is better to cut a few slits in the newspaper to encourage the two colonies to merge, as the scent of the two colonies will blend more quickly?
Cutting slits into the newspaper isn't necessary, the bees will chew through it whichever way you do it.
yea i actually thought about that after i put it back toghter it was riped open the next day i checked on it they had it open on the sides, thanks next time i will i have another one to do tomorow

No your not crazy! I do the same. I now have the same problem and have to combine. My super queen disappeared or died. I’m going to do the same but struggling with what queen or Nuc to combine it with. Yep but lost one of my production queens just gone pretty sad. I do have some of her daughters though I had grafted and they are doing well its just a tough decision on which to use?
