He had a unique mix of black and white gospel tones, but he sounded like nobody else and he sang through much pain and love. He was God gifted

This was released in 1957 when Elvis was 22 years old.
Elvis singing gospel gets me every time.
When he sang gospel songs, you could literally watch him stepping into another roam.
It was as if he was channelling God through him.
Thank you for your heartfelt and honest reaction❤
    God Bless!

He has a lot of gospel songs. I think his gospel is better then anything else he does. Go down the Elvis gospel rabbit hole. You won't be disapointed. Lovely reaction and no reason to feel bad about crying to a song. Take care

Glad that you have discovered the single most important reason for Elvis' success, which is in my humble opinion, the fact that he acknowledged The Lord Almighty God in all that he was gifted. As I understand it, he would sing gospel songs after each live show with his band and back-up singers in his hotel suite long into the early hours, as well as the ones he included in his show! I've never heard of anyone else who ever did that, and I do believe he did it because he loved The Lord. I enjoyed your reaction. x

This was Dr. Rev. Martin Luther King’s favourite song. My favourite song of Elvis Presley is “Without Him”. Elvis Presley often said “I’m not the King. Jesus Christ is the King. I’m just an entertainer.” - Elvis Aaron Presley.

@@shockwavereact He sang gospel music. That was his first love. He loved gospel music because his mother loved gospel music and he adored his mother. There are many stories of how after Elvis would come off stage he would sing gospel music into the early hours of the next day. I find it interesting people laud him for his secular music and the way he dressed on stage but the three GRAMMY Awards he received were for his gospel music. If I can recommend a book get a hold of “The Faith of Elvis: A Story Only a Brother Can Tell” by Billy Stanley with Kent Sanders. Or check out the DVD “He Touched Me: The Gospel Music of Elvis Presley”. And have a listen to Elvis Presley singing “Without Him”.

Elvis was nominated for a Grammy 14 times, he won 3 all for Gospel. 1966 How Great Tho Art Album, 1972 He Touched Me, and 1974 How Great Tho Art Live in Memphis album.

  • @stege9979

He started out as the King of Rock and Roll, transformed into simply The King. But it was nothing simple about that. Elvis is the only artist ever to be inducted into all the major Halls of Fame.
That in itself means nothing, but it shows his incredible width in music. As someone once said, Elvis could sing the Phone Book (we had such things back then) and do it credibly.
Gospel though was his greatest love. There's a ton of fantastic gospel songs, with Elvis if you want to dig further.

I came up with a "fantasy" concert, I could really imagine myself watching and listening to Elvis and these artists:
Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Freddie Mercury, Janis Joplin, James Brown, Michael Jackson, Bob Marley and Elvis Presley (if I could hear Elvis sing some duets with Lisa Marie to).
Would you go and watch them perform if you could, or who would you like to see and hear if you could choose anyone???
