- Edward "Jake" Wagner appeared in court Thursday to change his plea on multiple counts to guilty including eight counts of aggravated murder.

How the members of the Rhoden family could be so composed is absolutely beyond me. I have NEVER seen such class, especially from those who think themselves 'classy' simply because they're rich. The Rhodens have composed themselves with flawless, absolute dignity.
I am astounded at the level of evil in this family. I hadn’t heard of this case until I came across this video. I researched and found that this monster, his mother, father, brother, grandmother and others plotted to wipe out an entire family. Can you just imagine those conversations. Sheer evil! And the mother…. She got off with 30 years, SHE should have been sentenced to the absolute full extent of the law! She is despicable! All of them…

I Agree. Those grandmothers should serve some time too. And the rest needs to be locked up and never ever free again. These people are sick and dangerous.

When you consider 8 people of an entire family being wiped out, you think of a natural disaster like a tornado or a plane crash where they were all traveling together, you never think of the purposeful and willful killing of each individual person. My understanding is the parents concocted this entire thing. The mother initiated it by the repeated takes of the little girl being molested. When she finally told her husband she wanted to go to the police with this claim, her husband decided they had to kill those people.
The mother was the mastermind of the massacre.

I would've loved to have been a fly on the wall when his father, mother and brother found out that he decided to plead guilty. Now we wait to see if they also change their pleas or attempt to go to trial since he will be testifying against them.
By him taking this plea,it takes the DP off the table for the others. That was 1 of the stipulations

If they told what happened, they would not be charged and that's why he is saying guilty because he knows his family turned on him so they just wanted him but the whole family should have been charged because they have to all be crazy

He did - he told who killed who and in what order. He also said why they killed all of Hannah's family - so their would be no one left to tell law enforcement that it was most likely Jake who killed Hannah. Hannah's family all new Jake had threatened to kill Hannah multiple times, and was harassing her to sign over full custody. Angela killed Kenneth Rhoden.

Glad he pled guilty!! My thoughts and prayers are for his baby girl. She has to grow up knowing that her mother died because her father, uncle and grandparents killed her because they wanted her to live with them. It’s sad that she has lost all her mothers relatives and her mother to these ignorant people!!

Revenge turned out not to be sweet for him. I believe his mother started this and dumb kid agreed to it being revenge. Found out it doesn’t work, and accepted responsibility. Hope to listen to what he testifies to.
I think it was pretty equal between him and his momma. He had been very controlling over her and she just up and left him. I think he thought she would come back one day and he used their daughter as a way to try and control her as well. She got pregnant by someone else and I think this infuriated him, he literally waited until she got from the hospital and killed her 2 days after she got home while she was breastfeeding her 5 day old baby. I think for the grandmother, she wanted the child, I think with him it was also revenge for her having had a child with someone else. He kicked her door in a few weeks before this and walked in her home with forged custody papers demanding she sign over custody of their daughter to him.

I'm interested in what he says about his mother. I find it hard to believe that a young man would decide his daughter wasn't being raised right if his mother wasn't talking it up. Grandmothers can be crazy.

I have a feeling the mother is the one who wanted him to get full custody of the little girl. She had a husband, two boys, and a grandson - - she may have been obsessed with having a girl in the family full time. Then again, I could be completely wrong. The whole thing was so absolutely unnecessary. And look at them now.
I thought Hannah having a new boyfriend and a newborn with that boyfriend, was part of his anger towards them, along with the custody battle of their little girl. He has plead guilty of only 5 of the 8 killed. Wonder what the rest of his family will do now?

Some don't deserve leniency. The only bright side about him not receiving the death penalty is that hopefully now he can get a taste of his own medicine and suffer an even more drawn out/painful end at the hands of people as ruthless as himself.

There were a few times he was making faces, swallowing hard and swaying back and forth. I can't decide if he was trying not to laugh or trying not to cry. Hard to tell from the side. I would hope if he was smirking the judge would have said something.

I thought my ex was bad and went through a terrible custody battle. Awful!!! I never thought I’d hate anyone more. After this case, my gosh. It’s so scary to think this can happen! 😢 I can say there is someone worse than my ex. Any woman that endures this, I just can’t. I was a funeral director and dealt with this a few times!!! That’s what made me leave.
@Cara Lewis agree with you, haven’t battled anyone for custody but Jake couldn’t win as Hannah was only 15yr old when she gave birth so could have faced underage sex charges as he is being charged with! What a disgusting human being to think he’d get away with it & his precious daughter would be better in care of just him! Certain type of evil that isn’t often found. the thought of being in prison for killing an infant should scare him more. the other prisoners will kill him for that if they get the chance. he would have to be put in 'protective custody.' this sounds nice but it means he'll be locked in a cell for at least 23 hours a day every day for the rest of his miserable life. if he gets in trouble he goes to 'the hole' basically a windowless dark room with a tiny door thru which they shove his food which may be only bread and water. the day will come when he wished he took the death penalty.

Part of his plea deal was no dp for any of them. So yes, he turned on them by pleading guilty but he's also saving their lives. Except his mother. She got 30 years. George is on trial right now and Billy will be next. Jake and Angela are going to testify against both of them.

No one has proof, but think clearly. Why would all of those family members get involved with a mass murder over custody of a baby or the breakup of this guy who pled to the murders. Do you not see how biased it is for the prosecution to make a deal with the actual murderer ? I mean thats a sweet deal to give a mass murderer....turn on your family snd we won't give you a death sentence. If he would kill 8 people he would certainly turn on his own family to save his worthless life and that is wrong of the prosecution to offer that. Not fair game at all, and the other defendants I hope are going to have their cases dismissed. There might be more to this plea that hasn't been revealed yet. I just don't see a whole family participating in this knowing they will probably be caught and it is also unusual to see an entire family be mass murderers. People who live in the area are not accustomed to the levels of corruption that happens in our justice system, but I'm from a large city in Texas and can see right through this case. I gave my opinion and you have yours and there's no reason to be vulgar or use cuss words because we're not on that type of a level of communication. You do realize that as part of his plea they took the death penalty off the table for his co-defendants (family) as well. You really think they arrested all 4 of them because they only had evidence against him? And you think he could pull this off by himself? 3 Different trailers plus a camper 8 miles away? I don't know who came up with the plot (probably him) or why they'd all join. It's not that hard to believe. Dysfunctional people usually have dysfunctional kids. And people in Appalachia do typically have a code of 100% loyalty to family. Why he flipped on his family I don't know. All these questions will be answered during the trial or on their guilty pleas.
@@klondikebelridge1996 What evidence was there? I read it took a good amount of time to charge anyone. I saw the grandmother who had the beautiful horse farm when I was reading about the story a while back and I just could not believe that somebody who has a nice place like that, and is older would be involved in such a crime. It doesn't pass the smell test to me, and I don't believe they have any evidence, otherwise an arrest would have been much quicker. We will see. Although I do believe this guy is the murderer, and he's going to take them to the murder weapons, but I don't think anybody else is involved I think he did it by himself. Just my opinion. I just couldn't imagine my brother coming in the house and telling my family that we need to go kill eight people because of a break up or over a babies custody and that all all of my family members would get up and go do it. I just don't get that . I don't understand that unless they were pure insane mental handicaps. George, the father, is now in Butler County Corrections Center in Hamilton, OH. Jake is in James A Karnes Correctional Facility in Columbus, OH. George IV is in the Correctional Reception Center, Orient, OH. May they enjoy their stay 😅

Actually, it makes perfect sense since this thereby guarantees that any penny they do make goes to the family. Many murderers have sold their story to the media, only to have the profits turned over to the family and rightfully so since they should not be allowed to profit from their crimes. Plus they did own property and the proceeds from the sales of their property plus any other money they had that wasn't eaten up by attorneys fees are also taken into consideration.

No hate please but, In regards to his smirking during the pleading of guilty to all these charges, (I hope I don't get a lot of hate for this) but I don't think that he was smirking because he killed eight people. I think he is smirking because he is still very immature child-minded and the fact that he has to repeat the same (I don't know 10?) words 20 times for all of the charges, somehow was funny for him. the response to whether he's withdrawing his previous plea of not not guilty he replies "I am, Your Honor." And then the statement he makes after every "How do you wish to plea regarding this charge?" from the judge he says "I am guilty, Your Honor." He does this 18-20 over and over and over so It's a game to him in his head, it's just funny to him and only him that he had to repeat it all so many times. We know the Judge had to go through each and every charge, each and every name of the victims, one by one. That's the state seeking true Justice. That's very thorough and the court is making sure they cross their T's and Dot their eyes and make sure there's not a reason for an appeal once he is sentenced. But he doesn't understand that. Her brother is the father of Hannah Rhodens newborn daughter Kiley. Jake took out his rage out on Hanna Gilley for her brother sleeping with Hannah Rhoden, and fathering a child with her.

I think these kind of plea deals are an outrage to the judicial process. This man has admitted to shooting at least 5 of the 8 victims in cold blood. He should have got no special plea deal whatsoever. I don’t agree with the death penalty, but he’s basically consigned his father and brother to the gurney to save his own skin. They probably found out that very day, from other inmates. There are radios & TVs in jail. Plus, guards tell them what they've heard on the outside. they add every bit of time they can squeeze out of his charges. the firearms charges took longer to explain because they deleted special circumstances that would have required a mandatory death sentence. he pleaded guilty to everything else to get out of the death penalty, which ironically would have given him better lodging, food, and priviledges than his life sentences.

I.m.o. this tragedy is only about power and controle. Jake is a narcissistic man. He (20) began dating Hanna when she was 13. She was beautiful and "easy prey" in his eyes. Soon they had a child. But he abused her and Hanna left him. He FAILED to get Hanna back. He lost control/power and this hurt his narcissistic ego. Then he tries to get full custody of his child. Not because he wants this child but to punish Hanna. When that also failed, he decided to murder the Rhodens. I wonder why his family helped him do that.
