I grew up in Mississauga, 26 years, moved out west 20 years ago, lived in Alberta for 5 and the last 15 in a few places in BC, BC is the best, come out to Kelowna and Osoyoos next summer and I guarantee you will want to move here.

The bus service has gone to crap. It takes much longer to get around with a lot more walking. They keep paving everything off and closing streets. It stinks of NWO agenda.

If you ever drive someday which you might and you start parking you will notice even if you park in an empty parking lot someone will pull up beside you
smaller towns are the best - you'll be speeding through my small town but keep going past Kitchener and go all the way to Stratford but you'll have to stay overnight (just recently the Kitchner GO line pilot project now goes to St. Mary's, London, Stratford) and get the 6:43 a.m.GO train back to Union Station

Try Cornwall Ontario. It's super south and borders the US; it has a river and clean air, is one of the cheapest towns in Ontario and has multiple grocers and farmers markets. Not much to do for entertainment; it has a bad reputation, and it is slightly colder than Toronto in the winter, but considering your characteristics, it seems like it might be worth the train ride.

After living in TO for the last 20 years now, it's hard to compare, unless you are sick of the people, traffic and everything else TO has to offer. As for me, I'm not there yet in my life. Perhaps I'll never be. I'm a big city guy and love everything it has to offer. You'd probably have to move to another country to get what you are desiring.
