Considering AFP lacks modern weapons and some say pathetic compared to what other ASEAN Countries have, One cannot ignore the fact that we have well trained and experienced soldiers. I respect Filipino soldiers more than any other soldiers in ASIA especially those who have seen real combat. They can always show us the modern weapons they have, but I can always show them the eyes of a real warrior.

To be honest, AFP is used to close and tight urban areas and lush forests. If the AFP is to be deployed into war, which I hope wont happen (not really), it's a strategic option to assist places which they are used to. Uh, no to bash please.
I agree AFP is very effective in jungle warfare tracking, concealment urban warfare might prove difficult but our AFP can still manage that because we filipinos will never surrender a piece of our land neither condemn our people to tyranny, terrorism, invasion. My point is PHILIPPINES SOLDIERS ARE BAD ASSES
let me just clarify that the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) is not in anyway a branch of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). the PCG is civilian in nature. the PCG is under the Department Of Transportation and Communications ((DOTC).
The AFP should not only modernize its weapons but also its intelligence system. The Department of National Defense should fund the appropriation of at least two military supercomputers. These supercomputers could help in massive data analysis, monitor and calculate the movement of all troops and forces, identify the strengths and weaknesses both within the country itself and the enemy, locate positions to attack, calculate the chances and probability of winning and losses of a combat operation, battle, or a whole war, coordinate the launching of weapons, civilian evacuation, determine strategy and tactics, making more accurate military-purpose maps and many more. That way the AFP can maximize each small quanta of forces and weapons it has against the enemy and for its own survival. Ones with the most weapons don't always win the war, but those who hit the weaknesses of their opponents decisively or are so well protected they are not even attacked in the first place. The assessments of supercomputers will greatly help the commander-in-chief, generals, and lieutenants, and the whole army itself in triangulating their decisions.
Here is what filipino soldiers level. They maximize their available equipment no matter how old or obsolete as long as it functioned well. Those mindset can drag the soldier to victories. The struggles in mindanao has been long overdue because some of the rebels have a support from the big politicians. Thats the truth.
Lack equipments with Aselsan night vision, advanced Harris Falcon III radios, R4 carbines, M203’s, M320’s, FN Minimi machine guns, helmet, body armor, gas mask, M82 Barrett 50 cal snipers, Mcmillan Tac-50’s, sufficient amount of APC’s and more, i don’t see lack of equipments here, we have the right equipments, some are just old, and remember Marawi took 5 months not because our military is weak, our soldiers are untrained and have obsolete equipment, it’s because of intel report failure by our government.
