Hi, both the resorts are fantastic and if you have a week to spare you can experience both in one trip. Now coming to the activities, both have enough activities to keep you occupied in the hotel itself. The advantage of Serai is that they have private pools in all their villas so it’s more convenient with a child. Though Taj too has private pools but those are higher category rooms. Both Taj and Serai is surrounded by greenery. Taj has fantastic views from the rooms. Again since you are going in January, you need to consider whether you will be using the pool or you want a better view. Again considering it’s winter, in Taj you also have the option of choosing a room with a fire place. So there’s not much to differentiate. But again as I said if you can try to make a trip where you cover both the hotels in one go, just the way I did. Hope I have been able to answer your query.

@@dhisigs Hi Madikeri will take one hour less than Chikmagalur if you are travelling from Mangalore. But again it all depends on what's your final destination. We first went to Chikmagalur from Bangalore, then from there to Madikeri, which is about 4 hours drive. Since we were coming back to Bangalore, we wanted to stopover at Mysore on our way back. So it really doesn't matter where you go first. And finally enjoy your trip.
