Love your channel my dad brought my brother a Morris thousand split screen £37 in the mid-80s but my brother didn’t want it. It had a personal numberplate well ,
Hi Peter. No, thankfully it was only the 803 that had this quirky lubrication system. They remedied this issue in the 948, which I would say is the pick of the bunch. Certainly in terms of smooth running!
Has anyone tuned the 803cc A-Series? I’d love to see one with an Arden 8-port Crossflow head, fast road cam, sport bike pistons to bump up the compression, twin Webers, lightened flywheel.
It certainly was, Richard. The oil pressure is now noticeably higher across the entire rev range which can only be a good thing for the old 803 engine. Anything which reduces the risk of oil starvation can only be positive. :)
Hi Chris, well your vlog has kicked off quite a stir among 803 owners in the MMOC . I have searched for the person mentioned to no avail ( Declan Burns ), do you have any other contact that can supply the item shown please ?. Many thank.
Thanks for the reply. The issue was brought to my attention by a retired engineer I know and he told me about the little adapter that Declan has been supplying for a number of years. Honestly, I don't think the absence of it would be the end of the world but it does seem to bring the oil pressure back up to factory spec despite the fact that the modern versions of the 803cc oil filter have an aperture that's just too large. It's a good thing to do for peace of mind, especially on those longer a-road runs! If you go onto the MMOC message board, send a PM to Declan_Burns (note the underscore) and hopefully he'll get back to you with the info you need. He's a wealth of information.
Hi Shane, if you contact Declan Burns via the Morris Minor Owner's club forum then he should be able to get one out to you. board.mmoc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=63859&p=582809&hilit=oil+restrictor#p582809
Hi, no thankfully not. As commented above, the 948 engine has a full-flow filtration system and doesn't suffer from this particular problem. All the best.

Thanks for your response Chris, I managed to get hold of Declan so hopefully all sorted. Cheers
Hopefully that doesn't apply to my 1955 model as it has a 948 cc engine. Thanks for uploading

Hi Chris, was the upgrade a success?

Does this apply to the 948cc engine
