The great Joe Raposo! My grandfather was actually friends with him because they were both musicians in Mass in the 50's-60's. An even bigger coincidence is that Raposo died on February 5, 1989, my birthday (before I was born, though).
As an employee of Sesame Place, its great to see which songs everyone likes best. btw i hear these songs everyday and i still havent grown tired of them
I hate to sound like a typical oldie at the age of 26 but these Sesame Street songs brings so much nostalgia as that I remember watching Sesame Street as a kid. Some of the songs I still remember off this show. And I remember the Elmo's song really well since it is the intro theme to Elmo's spin off show, Elmo's World.
I Don't Want to Live on the Moon is only an honorable mention? Nooooo! And unlike all you haters I really liked this top 10. Makes this grandma nostalgic...
Oh yeah, 'I don't want to live on the moon" was always my favorite Sesame Street song as a kid. I grew up on them and my kids grew up on them and very soon I will have grand children who will no doubt grow up on them.
That "C is for Cookie" song was originally heard on a record album in which the Muppet characters sing and talk about the alphabet. Soon after its release, the song appeared on Sesame Street with Cookie Monster lip syncing the recording taken from the album with some of his furry friends, including Grover, Herry, Oscar the Grouch, etc. joining in on the chorus.
Some of the most familiar and popular Muppets are full-bodied characters. Big Bird is the best known example, though his Sesame Street cohorts include Snuffy and his family, Bruno the Trashman, Sam the Robot and Barkley. The Muppet Show played host to Sweetums, Thog, Timmy Monster, The Mutations, Doglion, Behemoth, Fletcher Bird, and Sopwith the Camel. The Gorgs loomed large on Fraggle Rock, while Bear and his friend Ursa star in Bear in the Big Blue House. Later examples include Mopatop on Mopatop's Shop. Various overseas versions of Sesame Street have had their own larger than life stars, including Kippi Ben Kippod, Boombah, Nimnim, and Zeliboba. Feature films brought a new raft of full-bodied characters, including Miss Finch, Mommy Dodo, Daddy Dodo, Marie Dodo and Donnie Dodo from Follow That Bird, and The Ghost of Christmas Present and The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come from The Muppet Christmas Carol.

Kinda saw "Rubber Ducky" being #1. Honestly, if they wanted a song with Ernie and the duck, they should have went with "Put Down the Ducky" with Hoots.
There was a claw machine in an arcade filled with rubber duckies. I tried to get as many as I could in about 15 tries, the ones I got were a purple one, a tie-dyed one, and one that looked like Rubber Duckie. When I got the one that looked like Rubber Duckie, I put it in a blue dish sitting on top of white foam, made dots with a hot glue gun, and put the dots around the it. Now it looks like it's in a bubble bath!
you should of put sing in like top five its a classic... oh lord i watched the 50th anniversary show and in end all members past and present did sing together... i cried happy tears singing along with them even tho im 22. this show never gets old!
My favorite song was "Do De Duck." It is another Ernie singing in the bath tub about his rubby duck, but much more lively. Brings new meaning to "Don't come knocking, if the tub is rocking." :p
Totally 100% agree ...... I guess Some people just don't have much to do w/ their day ... So they have to find things to complain about !!!! I loved this list ... Brought back a few memories 😍😍
The song "Being Green" was also featured on an episode of "Captain Kangaroo," where it was sung by Mr. Greenjeans the farmer, who wore green work jeans. I should know because I used watch that show as well as "Sesame Street."
I remember all those songs except Elmo's Song, I was 13 years old when it came out. I used to have a Sesame Street song record when I was a lot younger & listened to it all the time, & had most of the songs that were mentioned. I like the Monster in the Mirror song because it had the different celebrities in it.

The Batty Bat made me dance so crazy when I was a preschooler! I even had Dance Along on VHS, but my toddler cousins now have it on DVD! I don’t know what their opinion on it is, though.
omg mr noodle died!! he such a legend well at least he has a brother and sister noodles... what one died the one with black hair or curly redheaded one?
Guys give them a fucking break. They try to upload like 10 vids a day. No wonder they're running out of ideas. If you're so pissed about them running out of ideas, you can either just leave or give them some! You guys are acting like they don't even try. They really are. They try and upload 10 vids a day. Give them a break! For God sake. WatchMojo, we invite you to take a break to settle down and come up with better ideas. Oh, and you shouldn't upload so many videos. Upload 2-3 a day. That way you don't run out of ideas so fast. Take a break. You earned it :)
I think they should cut down a bit because there have been numerous times I've missed some videos and had to go back a few days to find them. I think they upload a lot because they have a huge team of employees creating these videos.
+Geargrind 0 yeah. I said that they should stop uploading as much. But that doesn't mean it's right that people are bitching about and giving them a hard time when they upload 10 vids a day. I agree they should upload a lot less, but people can't just give them a hard time like that. People need to grow the fuck up
Put Down the Duckie might have been too celebrity-focused and excluded by the opening disclaimer? Or they didn't want two songs about the Duckie on the list?
It's not a bad list, but it did overlook a few favorites. "Imagination," sung by Bert and/or Ernie is a "Street" classic. Two others that I've loved since the '70s, and didn't expect to make the list, are "Telephone Rock" and the song about the country and the city sung by two Anything Muppets. "One Way" and "Subway" also come to mind.
I used to sing "C is for Cookie" to my old cat when she was still alive (although her name was spelled with a K, so I replaced 'c' with 'k'). And I still sing "Rubber Duckie" once in a while in the shower.
Haaaaa, i loved number one. I think that was my favorite part about the show. Also my dad was very good at the cookie monster impression.....and he had an insanely funny facial expression when he impersonated Cookie Monster. :( Wish I could hear him do it again....
Ten!. Ten favorite songs!. Love it. Big fan of the show. Great music, and a lot of funny moments. Great list. A lot of these I've heard over the years, in different versions, from albums and the show itself.
My favorite Sesame Street song is The Honker Duckie Dinger Jamboree. I remember watching it on the direct-to-video release, Sing Yourself Silly. It makes me wanna go to a farm and have a dance party there! I wish it made the list, though.
+sponge bob I believe they will but from my understanding it won't be current episodes. It'll be episodes that aired 6 months ago or something like that.
An Australian children's show called "Play School" is turning 50 this year. We used to get Sesame Street and Play School back-to-back on tv when I was a kid. Both were staples of my childhood. Wish it was still that way for my daughter. Instead she gets old episodes of SS via RUclips and I just got the 50th Anniversary 10 DVD set of Play School for her.
I actually wish I was involved in this list. Ask anyone I know, this is one of my favourite subjects. Shame to not see I Lost My Cookie At The Disco, Telephone Rock or Put Down The Duckie on the list. I was actually so sure Put Down The Duckie was going to be number one, but fair enough. That's certainly more iconic, I just momentarily forgot about it.
What is the Sesame Street number of the day Let's count the brain cells in Donald Trump's brain and find out 1 brain cell.... Yes the number of the day is 1 ah ah ah
It looks like they're only doing 1 song per lead character, so Earnie only gets one. But going by the honorable mentions, I think we can all tell who the best singing character is.
Watching this video, it has dawned on me that Sesame Street was a lot more adult than I remember. I recall watching Elmo in Grouchland religiously as a kid, and I remember Bert and Ernie talking about stories that had sad endings, like Titanic and Gone with the Wind. Yes, draw-me-like-one-of-your-French-girls-steam-up-the-car Titanic and frankly-my-dear-I-don't-give-a-damn Gone with the Wind. Moreover, teaching kids that not all stories have happy endings... heavy stuff. Also, in the sidebar of this video, I see a Game of Thrones Sesame Street parody... what.
So many good memories. Me and my Mom still "Sing a Song" from time to time. Also love La La La, What's the Name of that Song, C is for Cookie, One of These Things is Not like the Others, and anything Ernie or Elmo sing. I love Elmo so much, my first word was Elmo.
The great Joe Raposo! My grandfather was actually friends with him because they were both musicians in Mass in the 50's-60's. An even bigger coincidence is that Raposo died on February 5, 1989, my birthday (before I was born, though).

"Sing" always makes me cry when I heard sung by Sesame Street. I cried when they played it at the Kennedy Center Honors.
Does anyone else cry/almost cry or catch emotions when they hear 'I Don't Want to Live on the Moon" or is it just me?
Its beautiful
My dad absolutely LOVES "Doing the Pigeon". He can actually make a pretty good pigeon noise.
I loved listening to Rubber Duckie as a kid and I still do today. It’s such a memorable song from my childhood. This hit right in the feels!
everyone's hating and sayin that they ran out of ideas but I love this list
Agreed
yeah I love this list
Yup.
me too
+Christie Ramcharan same
The people disliking this video had a bad childhood.
I can't believe a Sesame Street list is what's making people lose their shit. What is this world coming to?
I hate it because there is no BA NA NANANA
Agreed
The people that hate it are rebel teenagers who hate shows for pre-schoolers.
They're a bunch of haters
I Don't Want to Live on the Moon is only an honorable mention? Nooooo!
And unlike all you haters I really liked this top 10. Makes this grandma nostalgic...
Oh yeah, 'I don't want to live on the moon" was always my favorite Sesame Street song as a kid. I grew up on them and my kids grew up on them and very soon I will have grand children who will no doubt grow up on them.
Lisa Boban, Wait, your grandma? Ugh, shows just how old I am...
That song has stuck with me through life since Sesame Street. It’s one of those songs that sends you straight back to your childhood it’s beautiful!
Ikr. Like how dare you put it as an honorable mention.
I Don't Want to Live on the Moon might not be as popular as some of these other songs, but in my opinion, it's the most meaningful to me.
Very true.
What a nostalgic trip. "Elmo's Song" turned into the Elmo's World Theme. Also where is "people in your neighborhood" That's a really good one?
Well this was a big nostalgia trip for me. Anyone else?
me too
yep #1 is my favorite and I am an old dude
yup
Me too 1980s and 1990s childhood memories Thank you(:

What happened to Pinball Number Count? That song is so catchy and one of my favorites! I still sing it every once in a while despite being 26!
And the classic number song where the baker topples over with a sumptuous dessert
Same with those of us in our 40s
J jump joyful jumble around
That should've been number one! Had no idea what the name was, though ;-)
@@lesliechristie3592 Hey!
I STILL have it downloaded in my iTunes and, dispite being 31 now, I STILL listen to it every once in a while!

Ashannon888 A little unknown fact the very first Sesame Street song to be Play it on the radio was in fact rubber ducky
There was a claw machine in an arcade filled with rubber duckies. Do a Part 2! There are SOOOO many great SS songs and just one Top Ten list barely scratches the surface!
“C Is For Cookie” should’ve been number one! And the omission of “ABC-DEF-GHI” & “The Honker Duckie Dinger Jamboree” is unacceptable!
I would have included "We Are All Earthlings" in this list, personally; that's always been one of my favorites.
I personally am very thankful to sesame Street and the Muppets I learned English with the Muppets
i learned english with ed edd and eddie lol
+Defrap22 hehe I guess everything works
i learned it from porn
+ace legend that's the best way to learn it
Hi, from the future. Um... Sesame Street is now 50 years old.
"A New Way To Walk" is my favorite "Sesame Street" song!
My favorite song was "Do De Duck." It is another Ernie singing in the bath tub about his rubby duck, but much more lively. Brings new meaning to "Don't come knocking, if the tub is rocking." :p
It saddens me to see so much hate
I know right this list was adorable and lovable I loved Sesame Street people are so bitter 😢.

'We are all Earthlings' was my favorite as a kid
I'm 12 and watching this makes me want to go see all my old Sesame Street videos...
Fun fact both songs #10 and #9 were written by the legendary genius Joe Raposo
I love the Elmo song every time I sing it it brings back memories

I long now to choreograph a perfect extraordinary waltz routine for "The Batty Bat"
That would be awesome

I don't know if I fully agree with the list.
Great list, but what about "Who are the people in your neighborhood"?
They put Don't Want to Live on the Moon in the honorable mentions list! They left out True Blue Miracle and Keep Christmas With You!
Totally forgot about that one....nice..
My childhood flashed before my eyes it was FANTASTIC!!!
so did mine
I still sing a lot of these to this day and I'm 36.

My favorite Sesame Street song is The Honker Duckie Dinger Jamboree. I remember watching it on the direct-to-video release, Sing Yourself Silly. It makes me wanna go to a farm and have a dance party there! I wish it made the list, though.
Hard to imagine that the show is almost like 50 years old. Impressive considering it's for the kids!
Too bad it's now on HBO. Not many children in will be able to watch it

Keep up the good work, guys.
catluvr2 My favorite is "I Got A New Way To Walk" because it's so catchy and the lyrics are good.
I knew it! I knew "Rubber Duckie" would be number one! Not that I'm complaining, it is one of my favorites.

How is Bein' Green so low on the list? I grew up on that song!
Sesame Street was my childhood and i am so glad to see this songs again
my childhood from the early 80s when I was little and I am 33 years old.
"Who are the people in your neighborhood" didn't even make the list? wow!
"these are the people in your neighbourhood" is one of the all time iconic sesame street songs, shocked to not see it anywhere on the list
'Imagine that' better be on here or i'm going to be pissed.
You’re pissed
It looks like they're only doing 1 song per lead character, so Earnie only gets one.
But going by the honorable mentions, I think we can all tell who the best singing character is.
Sorry, honourable mention
You know I don't think I don't want to live on the moon shouldn't have been an honorable mention but, on this list instead.
I can see why Rubber Duckie was number 1.
And I'm only saying that because I've had a HUGE collection of rubber ducks for a couple of years now.
Mahna Mahna should have gotten a mention.
you know your sesame street!
Disney's The Muppets!
Carmine Crincoli actually Mahna Mahna originated on sesmene street. And why do you say disney the muppets?
Not Chuck Productions
I don't know, that song is perfect with The Muppets!
Carmine Crincoli I liked the Sesame Street version better. The Muppet version has Kermit talking through part of it.
That Simpsons cross over with the Monster in the Mirror song in Sesame Street was cool!!!
Oh my god, Thank You!
I was so worried you'd miss all the good ones but you included all the classics!
A list I can get behind!
Awww. No "Put Down the duckie?" That's one of my favorites from when i was watching it with my brothers, a very long time ago...
Also, in the sidebar of this video, I see a Game of Thrones Sesame Street parody... what.
This is a pretty good list. Nice work Mojo
So many good memories. Me and my Mom still "Sing a Song" from time to time. Also love La La La, What's the Name of that Song, C is for Cookie, One of These Things is Not like the Others, and anything Ernie or Elmo sing. I love Elmo so much, my first word was Elmo.
I really enjoyed this top 10, first I've seen in a while.
Why so much hate? Just don't watch, you knew what it was going to be about.
Elmo is the Scrappy Doo of Sesame Street.
I agree! Both are annoying!
Other honourable mentions for me: “If Moon were Cookie” and “Peligro”.
6:44 Hey look! It's The Simpsons!
4:56 Through all my childhood Ive never noticed how small elmo was xD
Calling it right now: Rubber Ducky #1
I didn't know Sing a Song was from Sesame street. Huh.
You called it
C is for Cookie is my favorite Sesame Street song.
Rachel Pursley Media Same! Best Sesame Street song ever!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I do wish they had put "One Small Voice" in this list too. :-/
What about New Way To Walk? I remember that song so well after watching it as a four year old. It was one of my favorite songs from the show!
