I was obsessed with trying to feel normal and it took me forever to realize I was only feeding the dpdr and making it worse. The day that I said “fuck it, I don’t care anymore” is the day that I started healing. All I did was go back and start doing all the stuff I did before dpdr. Hey, thanks for your comment. Firstly, please make sure that you’re speaking to your parents about what’s happening. It’s very important that they know what’s going on. If they're not familiar with DPDR you can show them this video which will clear things up for them: ruclips.net/video/ANzyteEPKt8/видео.html Secondly, I know DPDR can be frightening but remember that it's just your body and brain's natural response to stress and anxiety. It's not permanent and it can't hurt you. You can and will recover. Make sure to read through all the info and articles on my website at www.dpmanual.com And if you would like to speak to a medical professional please don't hesitate to do so. I would recommend finding an anxiety specialist if possible as they will likely be more familiar with DPDR 👍
Hi, I'm 18 years old and I'm going through emotional numbness and things seem unreal to me, this has been going on since my mid 16 I'm struggling to understand others and situations and I feel like I've lost my emotional intelligence I don't have empathy for anyone anymore due to these things I cannot even communicate to people. I used to be an empath and used to be sensitive but like rn everything feels so numb, I just want to get better I also have a family to look after because my father had passed away when I was 15 and now I'm the next one who will provide for them and it's just really hard on me man idk what to do.
Hi Hasnain, thanks for getting in touch and I'm sorry to hear you've been having a difficult time ❤️ I know DPDR can be scary but just remember that it’s a natural reaction to stress and anxiety, and people experience it all the time. The National Institute on Mental Illness estimates that up to 75% of people experience at least one depersonalization / derealization episode in their lives. It's part of your brain's natural defence mechanism and usually it only lasts a few seconds or minutes at a time. It's only when it's focused on as a separate problem (feeling numb / like you're going crazy / in a dream etc) that it can turn into a feedback loop with the anxiety that caused it in the first place. But no matter what caused it or how long you've had it, you can always switch it off completely by stopping that anxious feedback loop. Make sure to carefully read through all the articles and info on my website at www.dpmanual.com and my book The Depersonalization Manual. And if you would like to speak to a medical professional please don't hesitate to do so. I would recommend finding an anxiety specialist if possible as they will likely be more familiar with DPDR 👍

Hey Sean, you are talking in your dp manual it’s only a symptom of anxiety, but are you talking about the anxiety of Depersonalization, or anxiety in general? Because I’ve been experiencing Depersonalization, and I know that I’m anxious of it, but I don’t feel anxious about other things in my life. Is it true that the anxiety is just the anxiety of the condition itself, or is it through other ways that I’m experiencing it? For example stressing about work or not enough sleep?
Glad to hear it! 😊And yes there's exclusive videos included with my book on the recovery process The DP Manual, available here 👉 www.dpmanual.com/purchase/
Thanks for your comment 😊 Depression can happen along with DPDR, just like with all anxiety-based conditions. But i dont feel i am recovering can I do with you a recovery coaching so you can help me with what i am doing wrong and what to help me. Because i feel so frustrated of this condition. I already bought your manual one month and half ago. Thank you shaun
With fully respect, I think that acceptance can't recover you fully, why? Because your body enters a fight or flight response, (or freeze) and not your MIND. So acceptance is just a part of recovery, you have to relax your body while maintaining acceptance, it's not good to say to somebody to just distract themselves, because with that being said you are just telling them to go more deeper and deeper into their head. key to recovery -> follow dpmanual, tricks & rules , etc.. and do body relaxation, (deep breaths, PMR, wet noodle, diapgrahmatic breathing...).
with just acceptance you are going (MAYBE) to get recovered, but that is not your root problem, this is not just anxiety, this is nervous system overwhelm point that your body registers as trauma, thank me later.
Hey can you please clear my doubts? When I think about these thoughts I get stressed and DPDR starts to kick in. So these thoughts are , am I gonna be fully normal as I was before DPDR , Am I gonna have to live this for my whole life? Because I'm just 16 I have so many things to do in my life. I got it on 20th MAY but rn I am really getting better day by day but when I get these thoughts doubts disconnection and all it starts to kick in . I hope I'll recover soon and I can feel things like I felt before this and I can enjoy my life like I used to do before DPDR. And one more thing please , Does it come back after fully recovering? Will it come back if you think about it after recovering from it? And more thing , does it effect your hearing? Because whenever I start having an episode my hearing becomes so weird and like volume going down idk why is it affecting my hearing? Or it's just me who is overthinking about it?

The next day my mind was very chaotic and i couldnt focus on anything i also had a feeling of everything not being real and i started to have extreme social anxiety. It was getting worse when we came back to school for final exams and i had many panic attacks and heart palpitactions and i had to leave the class every few minutes beacuse i felt like passing out or that my heart will stop working in a second. No. You feel like you are going crazy and that it is going to stick with you for your entire life, but if you actively work on it it will only get easier and one day you will basically feel like you've never even had it. It's gonna be a bumpy road, but enjoy the ride because it's gonna be worth it. You will feel like you've been through something very difficult (which you have) and that will give you confidence to face new big challenges in life. Keep going and remember that in the end things are not just gonna be good, but even better than before!
@@jacobaragon3398 You feel traumatised because of anxiety at the moment and your mind is also catastrophising. Thoughts like "what if I go so crazy that I cannot come back from this" is extremely common. You are also freaking out because the feeling is very unfamiliar to you. Just roll with it, live life just like you used to and things will go back to normal, just like you've never had it. No PTSD or anything similar. And also, don't research it too much. Find a hobby if you don't already have one, something very engaging if possible, which will help you shift your thoughts from the anxiety itself. The more you think about it, the worse it will be. Don't constantly research it and read about it. Live your life. You will feel odd and possibly quite disconnected, but the less you focus and think about it, the better it will get. It will be very difficult in the beginning, but the good news is, it will very, very likely, only be easier as time goes by. The feeling will be less intense until it is finally completely gone. In fact, you will actually struggle to remember what it was like when you had anxiety and dissociation attacks.

Can you give some tips on how to recover?
@@denial1004 I’m 100% serious when I say this, stop trying to make it go away. I spent every second of everyday looking for some secret trick to make it go away, supplements, medication, breathing excercises, meditations, it’s goes on and on. I was obsessed with trying to feel normal and it took me forever to realize I was only feeding the dpdr and making it worse. The day that I said “fuck it, I don’t care anymore” is the day that I started healing. All I did was go back and start doing all the stuff I did before dpdr. Golf, disc golf, basketball games at the gym, video games, driving around in my car just for fun, spend hours looking for new music to get into. I know it sounds too easy but that’s truthfully all I did and it was just a matter of weeks until it was fully gone
Ive leaned just recently that stress is the number 1 factor for you to get better or get worse or be stagnant in the dpdr. Im working on my stress and not allowing it to control me.
Hope you're feeling better! 😊

Hey, thanks for your comment. Firstly, please make sure that you’re speaking to your parents about what’s happening. It’s very important that they know what’s going on. If they're not familiar with DPDR you can show them this video which will clear things up for them: ruclips.net/video/ANzyteEPKt8/видео.html
Secondly, I know DPDR can be frightening but remember that it's just your body and brain's natural response to stress and anxiety. It's not permanent and it can't hurt you. You can and will recover. Make sure to read through all the info and articles on my website at www.dpmanual.com
And if you would like to speak to a medical professional please don't hesitate to do so. I would recommend finding an anxiety specialist if possible as they will likely be more familiar with DPDR 👍

Is normal to feel more worse when you wear glasses?
So you cant get traumatized from dpdr or ptsd from it????
@WorldofTanks48 so you can't get traumatized by it cause that's what I feel right now idk I'm just confused I still got hope tho
