I hate when reaction channels get bashers just because the reactors didn't like what they suggested. I am Filipino and love Queso. Listened to them in my college years and it was an acquired taste. I can see why they wouldn't like Queso but it was still interesting to see their reaction and what they'd say about it. :) I like it that these guys are honest with their reactions if they like something or not. If they did otherwise, people would then complain they're fake. So just keep doing what you're doing, guys!
Right! The thing that keeps me following you guys are your honest opinions and reactions. I mean, i like to get others listen to genres i like to my friends who are listening to the opposite type of genres. That reactions they build and make on their faces are priceless for me. Keep on doin what you have already been doing. I really appreciate it.
I enjoy this guys rection like their honesty and hey a big fan of cheese/ queso here too from the first album they shoul have listen a aong from rhat album instead like 10x karma, gaido
Perfect reaction to this song, this was how I saw Insekta some 10 years ago, but after listening to the whole album for 2 days straight, it grew on me. If it's your first time listening to Queso, you'll really get confused with how many different sounds they come up with a song. That's their style, and that's what I love about them. That said, try the track Steve. Great channel guys!
The reason i like this channel is because you remind me of a radio station we had back in the 90's called N.U. 107. They encouraged amateur bands to send them demos of their original songs (mostly of the rock genre), and if they think its good enough, they play it on air. A lot of famous bands in the Philippines back in the days trace their roots here.
So okay, they did not dig Queso. I fear they would feel the same way with Wilabaliw and/or Greyhoundz. While it's an accurate representation of Filipino metal, it's like an acquired taste, like dinuguan as Filipino food. Most Pinoys love it, but for foreigners, they would prefer something else. Songs from Wolfgang is probably their jam; try their song Sanctified. We Are One by Slapshock is also great, trust me on that. P.S. Hey, don't listen to them critics. Firstly, who cares if you get money? Secondly, we really respect you for your honest opinion. If anything, this reaction pit exposes some of the things we cannot tell ourselves due to peer pressure (like how soft is Franco, etc. )
These two metalheads r not into nu metal/rap metal bands like Greyhoundz, Queso... and also they r not into brutal bands! Let them react to bands with heavy/death/thrash metal sound/genres!
it was big back in the late 90s and mid 2000s when Nu Metal was also the trend, it just stayed as is to some die hard fans. if it was really an acquired taste for a typical filipino style of metal then we will still be having new bands of the same vein and still appreciated/welcomed by the masses. extreme music in the Philippines is a sad state yet hopeful at some point, its hard maintaining a band that puts our song after song since a band here in our country seems like not a viable career choice, great if you do. My parents said to me long ago that its already a luxury if you can find the time to appreciate that kind of niche type of music here, its all instant coffee/ready to drink on the got for everything. Indonesia has it better, hope we're going to that direction from the near future.
One thing's for sure: I have learned many things to your reactions, comments, and "criticisms". Your diverse musical knowledge to different musical styles make me more matured as a musician. Well, it helps. If you know what I mean. Keep it up guys.
This band is a thing! They are having a tour in USA, if you have time you can watch them live. There lots of metal band here in the Philippines and good to know that some of em' are being recognized internationally. Kudos to both of you, guys! Keep making reaction videos. Mokamiyasaymokame!
A reaction is full of criticism, judgement and honesty. If you don't like it. It's okay, dont mind those bashers who gets angry if you don't like what they liked.
I totally understand this reaction video! The first time i heard this was in a festival called the Pulp Summer Slam. It was already past 1AM, and when Queso played their set on stage, i was confused with their new songs, especially this song Insekta. It has various time signatures, riffs, melodies and transitions among each elements. I didn't liked it at first too, but it was a different experience watching it live. Ian nailed it and gave a rare impression about how he experiments on singing. Eventually i liked this song. Musically, lyrically its one of the best pinoy songs.
That's Taproot song "Poem" - "in case of fire break the glass". They are American NuMetal band. Anyway, please listen and react to true filpino metal bands. There's of a lot of them like Brimstone in Fire, Kabaong ni Kamatayan, Death After Birth, Rivothrill, Deiphago, Mortal Grudge, Rumblebelly, Intolerant, Bane, Surrogate Prey, Hateure, Pathogen and more. You'll definitely like them.
Thank you to play my favorite band queso ill be the person first to request in your vlog to insekta by queso I'm so happy with your reaction, my comment in your RUclips that queso is one of legend band in the Philippines its unique band
Pay no heed to your haters. It’s actually refreshing to know new sets of reactions. At least you’re honest about it. Some songs won’t be someone’s cup of tea but that’s fine. You’re doing great guys. Subscribed \m/
Majority of the songs are pure expiremental. It took time for a lot of people to get it, to digest the melody. It is there really, the pattern. Their ex-drummer Robert which is also from Skychurch who I think was also responsible in tracking the drum parts of some their songs said that, he needed time to learn to feel the songs in order know the flow. I see what he meant cause it really took me a lot of listening to get the flow. Now, I know the songs by heart. It's kinda like listening to Meshuggah. I have similar reactions the first time I heard the songs from the album where insekta belonged to. Keep it up guys, I like how honest you are. Raw, hard and unmerciful that's the great way to do it. lml
The 3 Nu-Metal legends in the Philippines are Slapshock, Greyhoundz and, Quezo. To me Quezo is the most original among these 3 since Slapshock tried to copy linkin park in one of their albums and greyhoundz is like a Filipino version of Korn. But new greyhoundz is sick and finally found their own original sound. Pls react to their song "Shoot to kill" or if you like their old stuff, "Pigface" is highly recommended.
Chico Science (formed in 1996) "The Revenge of Giant Robot Album" is Rap Metal early music genre. Later, they renamed the band as ChicoSci (2001) together with their later albums are Pop Punk Emo genre (2006). Erectus (active since 1994, band's current status is dormant) is a Rap Rock band, they adapted music style similar from RATM and Anthrax. Slapshock (formed in 1996), their early music style is fusion of Slipknot, Korn ang Limp Bizkit (not Linkin Park). Later style is Metalcore. Greyhoundz (formed in 1997), their music style is Rap Metal up to present. Queso (formerly Cheese, formed in 1994), their music style is fusion of Deftones, Dub War (associated with Skindred), and Korn. World recognition for NU Metal genre is in 1998? Rap Rock or Rap Metal is first heard in 1987, sung by Anthrax (an experiment by fusing Rap with Thrash).
Ulul wla akong narinig na Linkin Park element sa kahit anong song at album ng Slapshock. Isa pa. Parang pinagsama samang P.O.D Limpbizkit, Rage Against the Machine. Din ung Linkin Park at Ung voice nman ni Chester ay tipikal lng na Rock Metal voice.
Yeah to think that I have the same thought as them first time listening to this song but for me I've listened to it multiple times and deeper and deeper you can understand the meaning of the Chant, there's a meaning behind of it as one of the Guitarists Ocho Toleran explained. This band is experimental and most of their songs might sound off and out of tune yeah, I agree with them but that's not all of it if you can listen to it multiple times. But as one of them say, he ain't gonna listen to it and it's okay. The vocalist, Ian Tayao sings a different way, don't trust the captions, honestly don't. Just read the lyrics. If you're searching for a melodic song of Queso, please, try Mottaka. :) I agree with their opinion tbh as I've felt the same way FIRST time listening to it, but as I've first experience their live performance, audience and the ambiance with the crows is so fucking epic. Kudos!
On a positive note, we love your honest reaction and your attention to our local bands, but just feedback for you folks,i think it is essential to know the timeframe of when the song was released. Insekta was released in 06 in their 3rd album and also when the band started which is mid 90s,This is the time where late 90s bands where trying to move away from the nu metal sound. They added more elements to this album compare to their 1st and 2nd. Korn and deftones did the same thing during that period in the mid 00s. And how can extreme metal bands get praised for their technical sound but queso cant get any love? Mars volta . Tool. Mr bungle/faith no more arent extreme metal bands but they get all the praise for adding different elements to their sound. We get that you guys are hardcore metal listeners if you want heavier queso songs listen to PARUSA or STEVE. Both songs were release in 2002 , part of the hardcore to metalcore crossover , in 2006 queso want to show that they are just a nu metal/hardcore band that's why the entire album sounded completely different from the previous. If you cant appreciate songs like this maybe you need to tell your viewers to stop recommending bands unless its extreme metal. No hate , still love your channel 🤘
FINALLY! It should've have been the song STEVE, ENES, MOTTAKA. They used to be CHEESE in their 1st album. They changed it to QUESO.. One of the pioneers of nu metallish bands in the 🇵🇭 Also had the pleasure of smokin' out weed with them. I will share this reaction to Ocho thru messenger, one of the guitarist. P.S - Ocho Toleran of QUESO was part of FRANCO. QUESO - SLAPSHOCK - GREYHOUNDZ
this is why i subscribed... honest reaction... i love Queso been listening to them for a very long time... just like any other music it is not for everyone...
This came from quesso's last album, where they were evolving, where they had a new drummer who played very differently from their music, but to really get a heads up on quesso's sound, i guess gaido, enes, steve, 10xkarma ,would be them Ambient with a twist of regae and rapmetal. Insekta was a heavier drum version of the sound they already established when they were known as cheese
They are not youtubers thats why.. my channel is about Reaction and and i dont even make money even my videos hit 100k so just ignore them Bro.. Peace out!
I mean we make some money, but it’s not a lot. I feel it’s just a little for all the hard work editing, making thumbnails, recording all the while being away from my wife and three kids. Anything i make goes to my kids anyway lol. Or the irs. Thanks man at least someone understands 🤘
one thing that separate this band from other filipino bands is their unique style of musicality..specially how the vocals are made by their frontman...mr. ian..tayao..is like listening to ill nino..theres a tribe effect in musicality but mesmerizing and most of all its heavy....
Love your reaction guys to one of my favorite band! And yes your reactions are accurate and great and this may not be your taste but believe me we love this guys and their crazy kind of stuff here in the Phillipines. Mosh pit gone crazy when this band play! More power guys!
Much better if you guys understand the me messgaes of the song. Heres the lyrics. Every note delivers me to somewhere else Far from the world. I refuse to dwell Autism, raptured rituals Naked mind Naked mind, open wide Naked mind, cross the distant light Cross the distant light Frozen child I've become Addicted. Don't you worry about me I can walk all by myself In comfort, come connect the lines Something is missing Something sacred to us Others just taking advantage It belongs to all of us Make substantial tracks so we can ride smoother We think that's what freedom is all about Cut once and measure twice Be sentimental in every movement Me like it like it like this, we love Let the culture mix all the color Always we come together as one Celebrate the sound of our time Never surrender, fight prejudism Never surrender, reach our dreams Mokhamiyasaymokameh
They will have a US tour. November 9 - Maryland November 10 - New York November 15 - Los Angeles November 16 - San Francisco November 22 - Las Vegas November 23 - San Diego Hope you check them out.
Failed flipping is one of his signature moves. just like a guitarist wrapping around the guitar on his body. but failed flipping is more hardcore. hahahaha. no vocalist can do that.
You see, their reaction is totally valid. I mean Queso's music IS an acquired taste especially this song. They have others that's a bit more "normal". Even filipinos don't understand the chant. The singer is singing in english but is saying it differently. Keep being honest.
I love Cheese, Queso and Wilabaliw, all of these bands have only one lead singer, Ian Tayao. Back in the day, I even used to have a crush on Ian Tayao. He has unusual singing techniques. He would sing a bit like Brandon Boyd (ish) when he plays im his melodies. I'm actually a big fan of his growling, screaming and acrobatics. He still does flips and tumblings and other gymnastic moves despite his age of 40(ish, I'm not sure of his age. I'm just guessing). Not a lot of rock band vocalist include gymnastic routines in their live performances. And at his age, he also skates. The man bun guy named Ocho Toleran also skates, but that's another story. And now I'm fangirling in this comment. LOL. I really love this band and their other bands. However, I must admit in the perspective of a casual listener (a non fan or a person who listens to this for the first time) that your opinion is on point. I love to read and listen to the honest critics of my favorite bands. However, I wish you listened to Mottaka or Parusa by Cheese first than this song Insekta, because frankly, those, songs are better than this song. However, I'm not forcing you to try those songs if you don't want to. With all that being said, my request for now is try listening to Cage or Krolithika or Yokai by Saydie. A Filipino rock band that has a female vocalist who can sing and growl. The female vocalist of Saydie, Kat Taylor is a good friend of mine.
Proof about my statement on who makes the money 💪✌️here is the link

This is how a reaction video should be. Always honest and constructive on giving criticisms. ❤️

I actually listened to them back in late 2000s and I agree that they are somehow a kind of acquired taste/music.

I disagree that the bands you mentioned are an "accurate" representation of Filipino metal. They're just more "mainstreamed" I guess.
di nman sobrang metal talaga ang queso.. .. pwede pang maging taga represent ng Filipino metal ang Death by stereo

@bowsers reaction pit. watch their on tower sessions (Live)
QUESO- steve
It's called "The Suicide Flip"
Also coz he does a Chinese Get Up right after
Majority of the songs are pure expiremental. It took time for a lot of people to get it, to digest the melody. It is there really, the pattern. the flip was his signature move hahahaha....

Much better if you guys understand the me messgaes of the song.
Heres the lyrics.
Every note delivers me to somewhere else
Far from the world. I refuse to dwell
Autism, raptured rituals
Naked mind
Naked mind, open wide
Naked mind, cross the distant light
Cross the distant light
Frozen child I've become Addicted.
Don't you worry about me
I can walk all by myself
In comfort, come connect the lines
Something is missing
Something sacred to us
Others just taking advantage
It belongs to all of us
Make substantial tracks so we can ride smoother
We think that's what freedom is all about
Cut once and measure twice
Be sentimental in every movement
Me like it like it like this, we love
Let the culture mix all the color
Always we come together as one
Celebrate the sound of our time
Never surrender, fight prejudism
Never surrender, reach our dreams

Just subscribed to your channel..loving your reaction vids! Rock on!
Failed flipping is one of his signature moves. just like a guitarist wrapping around the guitar on his body. but failed flipping is more hardcore. hahahaha. no vocalist can do that.
The funny thing is, I think this is the only one of your videos that I saw a commercial on. Lol
Try greyhoudz 💪💪✊✊
You see, their reaction is totally valid. I mean Queso's music IS an acquired taste especially this song. They have others that's a bit more "normal". Even filipinos don't understand the chant. The singer is singing in english but is saying it differently.
Keep being honest.
Go check David vs Goliath - Oh God
Plsss. React dahong palay. Sa bibig ng emperno
