for those of you thinking kanye’s vocals are too high quality for a genesis, the sega cd addon supports full red book cd audio in fact, i bet you could play the original Labi Siffre sample on the ricoh RF5C164 built into the addon as well.
actually, the sega genesis *did* support cd quality audio! the dac used in the YM2612 had pretty much no limitation to the quality it could put out, it was actually limited to cartridge size, which is why the samples sounded so low quality as no one was gonna spend the size of a whole cartridge just for a high quality sample. though, listening to the song you can hear the sampled drums play at the same time as the vocals, which isn't really possible as the genesis only has 1 sample channel (or at least not without some quite complex soft mixing, which i'd bet the arranger didn't do), so my best guess is that they actually just edited the vocals in with an external program, as the sega cd wasn't mentioned anywhere. dont take this as a starter to an argument lmao, im just really interested in this soundchip stuff and i always end up talking too much when it comes to this topic haha.
