I run the 18-foot Memoir 44: D-Day Landings with my students every December right before Christmas break. Sixty students get two tries at it during the day, with six classes coming through. I let the next class keep playing where the last class left off. Also a nail biter. The last game we played, the Allies just barely pulled out the win. Soooo much fun!! I will say… owning 8 copies of the base game plus many, many expansions was a bit of work to get. The set up is also a beast lol
Cody, wouldn't mind a series of reviews on these, including that first 'honorable mention' "War Party". Have it, never got it to the table. And also one on "Conquest of Nerath". Thanks for all your posts.
I was very interested in this video. Out of the group you covered I'd love to see videos on Memoir '44 and Conquest of Nerath. Memoir '44 because it one of my favorite games of all time and you can never get enough of someone talking about something you love. And Conquest of Nerath because I never played it, knew nothing about it, and accidently picked it up because it looked interesting. I got it years and years ago (I think it was out-of-print even at that time) and kept meaning to get around to trying it. I'd forgotten about it until I saw your video mentioning it. It's still in shrinkwrap on a shelf in the closet in my game room so I guess I need to break it out and play it. One thing occurred to me as I watched this video and some of your other ones is that it might be helpful to people if you mentioned if a game is out-of-print. If they see something that they've not heard of before and get enthused for it from watching your videos, it could be frustrating if they don't know that it's no longer available and are going crazy trying to find a copy when it's nowhere to be had. Just a thought.
Thanks. You need to play CoN as soon as you can. Great game. Yeah, I often mention whether or not a game is in print. Don't know why I didn't here. Thanks again.
I've done a 3d printed board for the Memoir 44 Omaha Beach scenario. I used Flames of War figures, and I modified the 'command' system to allow for each beach exit area to have a unified defense/offense. I will be putting the game on at the Cal Poly 'Polycon' in June.
Lords of Waterdeep is one of my favourites and the expansion really kicks it up a notch. Of the 2 modules in the expansion, Undermountain adds more protifable buildings and quests, while Skullport changes play by adding a corruption mechanic worth negative points. I always play with Undermountain and use Skullport when i want a bit of a twist. I highly recommend you try them out sometime!
I love memior 44. It's a great game, easy to learn, and it doesn't take 4 hours to play as a lot of war games do. And the exapsions are fantastic, I just wish they weren't so expensive. Have you ever played war of the rings? That's a complex game, but if you can learn the rules, I think you will like it, you will LOVE it if you like lord of the rings. I see alot people complain about the conolex rules, but everybody says its one of the greatest war games they ever played after they understand the rules
A Review of M44 might spark more current interest in one of my all time favorites. Certainly it is one of the best gateway games, although I agree with you that CCN is best of the C& C system.
I'm a big fan of the King Arthur mythos, so I bought Shadows of Camelot a few years ago. Haven't had a chance to play yet. I haven't found a copy of the Merlin expansion.
Memoir '44 is my favorite. Fun and thematic. Great game to introduce kids to history. The base game is great, but the expansions add unlimited play and variety.
I know not many people know about the game, and some feel it is more heavy or complex than they care to try, but it would be awesome if you would give a review of the Vietnam War game of Fire in the Lake.
I had a sneaking suspicion Conquest of Nerath would be on this list. I'm actually surprised M44 wasn't the top, though - bit of a shocker. Glad to see CON still getting some love. Favorite game of all time, well over 500 plays, and would love to hear your opinions on it.
Such a good game. I need to play it again and get a review up. It's just hard to get back to older games when I've got a flood of new games I need to review.
500 plays of CON?! WOW, I'm very impressed. May I ask if you added any house rules to: A) balance factions B) reduce the horrendous downtime (turns are big and long) C) nerf Dragons a bit And do you prefer free-for-all or 2v2 game? Thanks, Salman
I was unsure about Memoir '44 when it first came out. I didnt like the sound of the card orders. I then played a game at a friends house. Boy was i wrong about the card mechanics it change my view and now think its a classic game! Will you be doing a review of your favorite D Day boardgames for the 80th anniversary of D Day?
These are the games I have on this list: Battleship Galaxies: 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘(most underrated 2p game I have. it's basically Battlelore in space) Conquest Of The Empire: 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍( Epic Roman Empire war campaigning) Conquest Of Nerath: 🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟(Criminally underrated) TTR: Meh....so-so (I don't think you need to review this game. It's review-saturated enough) good video! good topic! You seem to have the same taste in games I have. I'll trade you Forbidden stars for my subscription? It appears that you easily give away games that you regret later! gimme, gimme!
tldr: please review Conquest of the Empire Man, I remember when I first saw Conquest of the Empire at SPIEL Essen when it came out. It was this gigantic flamboyant game and Eagle Games sold it DIRT cheap and I think everyone on that fair tought the same thing: This can't be good for that price and the toys are just there to distract. So I skipped it ((bought Attack! + Expansion for just 40 dollareuros from them, lol :D) .

That sounds epic! What a wonderful way to play this game with students. Thanks!

Have it, never got it to the table.
And also one on "Conquest of Nerath".
Thanks for all your posts.
Thank you. The problem is there are always so many great new games to hit!
Conquest of Nerath is probably the most underrated D&D board game. Love that one.
Indeed. Great game!
I've owned Conquest of Nerath for years and would love to see a review 😀
Thanks!

Excellent. Sounds like fun.
Thank you!
Shadows over Camelot is one of our 1st board games 🙏
It's great! Thanks.
Memoir is fantastic…. wonderful
Great game!

I want to. Thanks.
Great list!! I bought Conquest of Nerath off eBay based on your recommendation from an earlier video.
Fantastic! Let me know what you think.

I played a few rounds of WoTR a few years ago, but not a complete game. Should give it another try.

I hope you get to play it before too long.

Agreed. It's a great game. I've only played with the Overlord expansion, though.
I know not many people know about the game, and some feel it is more heavy or complex than they care to try, but it would be awesome if you would give a review of the Vietnam War game of Fire in the Lake.
I've got some COIN games lined up to play. Maybe after I hit them I can look at FitL. Thanks.

Conquest of the Empire is a Larry Harris game…i.e..like Axis & Allies. The new version has some new rules.
Thanks!
Would love to see a review of Level 7 omega protocol
Hopefully someday. Thanks.

Will you be doing a review of your favorite D Day boardgames for the 80th anniversary of D Day?
That's a great idea. Alas, no.
God damn you Cody. My gf despairs in the weeks after each of these Top 10 videos, as yet more packages arrive from ebay.
Ha! It’s what I do.
These are the games I have on this list:

NEVER! (Thanks!)
Good sketch at the end. I made me chortle. The guy should have seen that as a challenge, maybe?
Ha! Maybe. Thanks.
tldr: please review Conquest of the Empire
Man, I remember when I first saw Conquest of the Empire at SPIEL Essen when it came out.

Perhaps down the road I’ll get to it. Thanks!
I have the Memoir 44 D day maps. I’m in Casper. Would love to meet up and play some games with you sometime.
I'm in Idaho now, but maybe sometime down the line.
My vote is memoir 44
Great game. Hopefully one day I'll get to it.
