I got the Lexar NM800 Pro and it performs as good as a Samsung eqivalent for less money. Was looking into the NM620 as a secondary SSD for games that don't need fast speeds.
@@WootDiniThe NM800 Pro is great. Fast traveling in Dying Light 2 is now instant. Loading into TW Warhammer III is way faster than it was on my old Sata M.2.
You have to consider the usage case as well. I just bought 4 of these drives for an OpenZFS install. The main cache will be the ram of the zfs server, writes are a 64K block at a time that won't be written immediately either since the thing will have an ups so i don't need a write through equivalent.
I bought 256GB NM620 for 4 months. The speed is outstanding maybe due of it's my very first NVME SSD to own. This is huge upgrade from SATA SSD for me. I'll highly recommend for budget builds or upgrades!
Hey This would be better purely because it's PCIe vs SATA. MX500 is capped by sata3 transfer. The MX may last longer however because of Dram but the performance is a big gap
@@WootDini Yeah let's go with an NVMe but if I'm not mistaken the 620 heats up easily, can you direct me to a model that controls heating better? I thought about the Crucial P3 or the Adata Legend 710 (with lower read\write rates).

Heya So just looked at your board Your PCIE gen for the SSD is gen 3. The Samsung 980 (NOT the pro) is gen 3 too so it will be compatible and you will get the full speeds. So both of those SSDs are compatible, but Samsung has DRAM which means it will last longer. But it all depends on price and what you are willing to pay. But both will work
Amazing video! Unfortunately I’m not very tech savvy and PC’s are not really my forte. I have a Legion 5 Pro 2021 with 512gb storage and it’s nowhere near enough. I just want more space and am not very picky on the exact details besides getting the best bang for my buck for the long run . The cheapest 1TB m.2 I could find was the Lexar 1TB NM620 M.2 2280 for about $71 USD. Everything else seems to be above $100. Should I still purchase it or am I really skimping out on quality by going for a cheaper product? I’d really appreciate your knowledgeable advice!
Heya. I think go for the lexar. You are not going to see massive performance differences. I'm also almost sure your device can take multiple nvmes. But don't worry, with the prices of SSDs now , the lexar will be fine
Heya. Rogueware is a good brand but it's designed for budget consumption. Prices of SSDs have shifted a lot in the last few weeks so I would be looking for bargains now if I were you. But if this is purely for gaming I would look for something with dram. My go to best budget SSD for gaming is still the crucial P5 plus. But compare prices. The best rogueware at the moment is the nx300 PCIe 4. It's so hard to advise in the current market to be honest, it all depends on your budget and finding the right deal now
I have 2 lexar nm620 ssd I installed mint for few minutes so I m happy I don't know what the speed is because I didn't have chance to test it but I think it will last a lot of years 😂 Every brand has bad ssds so why spend more if you know anything can break anytime
Heya :) It's depends on what you are storing. Reliability becomes extremely important if you cannot afford to loose the data. But if you just using it generally and storing your important information on cloud then there is no issue. Generally you pay more for safety and reliability
Heya. They are pretty much same spec but the controller is better on the crucial. Also crucial is micron flash which is generally superior to longsys. So if I had to say I would say crucial but the real test will be life of the ssd
@@WootDini thank you for your concern❤️ ..but iam really worry about the TBW of crucial itis a little bit low, TBW is 220 . on the other hand lexar TBW is 500
Very well made review, didn't know a lot of this info. Would you still recommend this for a PS5? Will it last if I plan to keep it for like 5/6 years in the PS?
Heya With no cache , for ps5 defo not. I don't think PS5 would accept it anyway because of the speed it needs for direct storage. Lexar has better SSDs designed for ps5 usage
@kelajuan_ not entirely. After waiting two months, I bought a new drive from another brand. A few months later Lexar offered a replacement. But I took a giftcard from the store I ordered the drive from (cause they didn't want to give me my money back)

Not having DRAM is less of a problem for nvme ssds becouse they can host memory buffer.
