    Thank you so much. You are by far the best cardiologist in the world. I have been an ER nurse for 10 years, and just listening to you casually has helped my EKG knowledge so much. Your information, and delivery, are priceless

    It all depends on the patient- every drug is efficient if used corectly and at the correct time.....there is no bad drug, just bad circumstances....
    For every example given here, there are millions other examples where amiodarone proved its efficency....
    It still used in some swiss protocol....
    Its dangerous to label a drug as bad.....its all dependes on human decision where you use it, there is no bad drug...

      Tell that to my dead mother.....It was prescribed for atrial fibrillation...In US is not on medical protocol but in Europe is! Why?

    • @hirayaman246
      @hirayaman246 3 года назад

      @@marianc3526 Not everything that is in US protocol is good nor bad, these are just conventions....
      Its the medic choice to select a drug best suited for a patient, at a certain time and circumstances....
      Amiodarone is one of the best drugs used for treatment of different rhythm abnormalities and its wrong to say your mother died because of this....
      It may be possible if given in wrong case or wrong dose or both.....but used with care, it has one of the best results, especially in emergency....
      So unless you have solid proof that this is strictly the cause of death ( maybe coroner report) its wrong to blame...
      Humans can die for so many reasons, you just cant imagine...

    My nephew was recently diagnosed with ACTA 2 GENE, and had FOUR ANEURYSMS (2 BRAIN) and DVT (was on Heparin IV while in hospital). He is only 27 years old, but he is a heavy drinker, smoker, and his diet consists of a lot of fast food, he perfers soda over water (although, he is now on a 2.5 liter liquid request) and hadn't exercised much.
    He has just been prescribed the following drugs; some of which counteract/interact with each other:
    LIDOCAINE (5% PATCHES, 12 hrs)
    AMIODARONE hcl (200 mg, once a day)
    PREDNISONE (10 mg, & 5 mg, once a day)
    METOPROLOL TARTATE (50 mg, twice a day)
    SPIRONOLACTONE (25 mg, once a day)
    FUROSEMIDE (40 mg, twice a day)
    WARFARIN SODIUM (5 mg, twice, nightly)
    ASPIRIN (81 mg, once daily)
    VITAMIN C (CVS, 500 mg)
    ZINC (220 mg)
    I am concerned about the possible side effects and drug interactions. He also said that he has gynecomastia which may be genetic (father also has it) but Spironolactone may also contribute and/or exacerbate gynecomastia.
    Also, the dose of zinc seems high. I also wonder if vitamin B complex, a liver supplement/nutraceutical, and co-Q 10 would benefit him.

    • @matt566
      @matt566 4 года назад

      Your nephew needs to improve his health lifestyle so he can get off of drugs. 20 year olds shouldn't be on multiple drug regimens unless they were born with genetic deficiencies that would have already killed them.
