I found it in my ironing board last year (1980s board - lasted a long time) so took it to the council tip - covered up. We also had in the science laboratory at school and used to put fire on to show how it did not burn - old days.
Asbestos was a very good and advanced insulation, and building tool. Just a shame it gave people cancer or it’d of made a huge difference had it carried on being used if it were safe.
@@samuel2026 - imagine this then: Canada has vast asbestos mines and is still mining it and 90% of it gets sold to China. I wonder how much of it has been exported from there to everywhere else.
@@samuel2026 - yeah, but you see how China has CE and other safety markings on their products? It's not because they've been tested, it's because they print it on anyways. So who's to tell us they aren't putting asbestos in random shit without telling us about it? With the millions of different products made there for exportation, there isn't a research facility anywhere that is capable of testing all of it.
@@lakapaka5151 I wouldn't worry about it, the chances of it have caused any real issues is tiny. It does depend on what sort of asbestos it was as there are different types and some are worse than others. Usually people that get cancer due to asbestos have worked with it for years, not just a short exposure to it. Anyone who was at school before 2000 or so will have been exposed to asbestos as the council used tons of the stuff when building schools. Floor tiles, insulation, ceiling tiles... After the ban a lot of it has been covered up or removed now the dangers are known.
I wunner worry bout it. I did the same when I was a wee lad, playing in the street and not crying to mother when I fell of my chopper! These bloody millennials are all stuck inside these days with blunt compasses doing daft maths these days rather than proper graft!
Noire Wrong, a very small and one off exposure to it can lead to definite asbestosis in the future. Yes it was used everywhere in the items you mentioned, but it only becomes dangerous once disturbed which makes it airborne. It can sit in the structure of a building and be perfectly safe to leave.
He said Stihl saw. A lot of people call any cut off saw a Stihl saw in the same way Stanley knife is used for any box cutter/craft knife etc. I don't think they are just for concrete though, you can get steel cutting blades, so must be multi purpose.
so the camera man was locked in the old building, waiting god knows how many years for Johnny and his guys to cut there way in, wow that real comment from the camera guy.
This was filmed years ago before health and safety was turned to 11. Now they would have ran out the door as soon as they saw it and come back with hazmat suites.
Health and safety is absolutely horrible on these shows. Basic filter mask is supplied to these fools and they wear them around their necks on television. One of these guys get a lung issue, say goodbye to their workers compensation.
John is 1st though the door huh 0.o behind the camera team the lightning team the makeup crew the set designers the safty inspector the animal control the assistants e.t.c

Surely If its not a deceased estate then taking and selling any items is sheer theft! Even if it's a deceased estate the items of value fall to the next of kin, I've known guys who have lost their contracts for it! , what was going through that guys head when he told a film crew!! And finally if there's no next of kin ,only then would items be sold off and the proceeds given to the council,
No one:
John: "HEEEERE'S JOHNNY"
Not often does this show make me laugh out loud, say “ewwww” yes but rarely laugh.
However, “HERE’S JOHNNY” made me CACKLE
1:32 *john is first through the door*
*camera man* "hold my beer"

"Nah we don't need the protective masks yet even though the asbestos has become airborne"

The "last of the litter loaded onto the lorry..." Quite the alliterative phrase....
I wish we had someone taking care of matters like the Sheriff does.
“HEREEEEES JOHNNY” I died 😭
That's the most grimsby thing ever trying to find things from any situation to sell on I love this town
First time I have seen grass in one of these UK reality Shows
😂 My dude probably the best sheriff. Man's said Here's Johnny through the door
He's not a real sheriff it's just a figure of speech he's just in charge
There's no real threat of the asbestos if we leave it to the side.
Proceeds to toss it in a pile of to release an asbestos dust cloud.
The supervisor reminds me of a less creepy vision of the Irish inceptor from peaky blinders
Wow I see that
Jodie Findlay I know right wow
Perhaps you meant "inspector," since there is no such thing as an inceptor, and inceptions are beginnings?
@@jb6712 wow ur on point lol
Joyce Blodgett you got my point still idc🤷🏻♀️
1:35 your telling me they took all that time faffing about cutting the lock off the door when another door at the back was already open??
i like how they say john first through the door but who`s holding the camera oh he must be john too
I was impressed with his ppe suit😂😂😂
Why is one bloke trying to drill the lock at the same time as the other bloke is trying to crow bar it off ? Talk about making it hard work
The guy with the grey suit on looks like the warden off that old Stallone film "Lock Up" 😂😂😂
Well, it is Grimsby
1:35 if he's first through the door, who is holding the camera??
The Sheriff of Grimby... badass.

"We'll resort to a trusty Stihl saw".... it's a Husquvarna.
Nice ppe I see they have on hard hats 😂
How can you tell when something is asbestos or not?
Should have gotten that saw from the get go 😜🤪
24 hrs to cool down a propane tank? What a pile of crock. lmao.
That was good one as they cleared it all
