The CAN protocol is the standard for modern vehicle communication. As of year 2008 all vehicles sold in the US have to be CAN. CAN or controller area network is a protocol or communication language that allows many modules (computers) to talk to each other. (note: the following is NOT a sales pitch. We allow all schools and training institutions to use our software free of charge, so long as it is not sold to others. This is about just CAN interface which is ISO11898 !!!
Title is missleading!!!
Title is not misleading. You're probably thinking about another movie.
ADPTraining Title has ISO15765, which covers transport and network ISO/OSI Layers. Thing that You are mentioning in the title covers CAN as interface, voltages, variants (11/29; A or B type etc.) wires and stuff like this which are physical laver (layer 1).
ISO15765-2 and -4 states:
"The physical layer and physical signalling of the external test equipment shall be in accordance with ISO 11898-1 and ISO 11898-2, with the following restrictions and additions." AND NOTHING MORE, that is all there is.
Page 14 of ISO-15765-4, Chapter 8.
I'm currently working on ISO15765, believe me tittle is missing.
AxelPLasg ALSO ISO15765 is called TP (Transport Protocol)
Protocol is not BUS, protocol is thing describing meaning of data transferred, not how data are physically transported.

The credibility of this video is greatly reduced by the use of a poor quality computer generated voice. Sounds like it was done with a Commodore 64.
