My experience. - On my way from Geneva to Delhi with halt at Paris, I was told that they will snatch your money by any means. I had quite a sum with me. So after a lot of thinking I wore shorts under my trousers and put whole cash in shorts. I knew they now can snatch my money once they take out my trousers only. This is how I saved my money. 😃
We faced similar scam in Paris. We visited Sacre coeur in the morning hours around the opening time to avoid the crowds and we were one of the first few people, some Blacks surrounded us and wanted to tie bands, we refused and started walking past them. But one of them(maybe the head) caught hold of my husband and started tying the band forcefully, the more we refused the tighter his grip got, my husband's fist started paining and getting red. We finally took out the wallet and gave him some money. Even then he wanted us to remove our jackets and bag and check all the pockets for money. Luckily a tourist bus came in just then and seeing a big group of people he left us and walked away. Luckily we just had to part away with 20Euros kept in the wallet, we both had many more Euros kept in the Jacket as well as the bag. So another tip I would like to share is to avoid visiting any tourist attraction in Paris during opening times. Though one might think its better to avoid the crowd, but sometimes its better to be careful in the crowd rather than getting stuck with the Scam people all alone without anyone to help you out. And Yes, dont keep all the money in the wallet! Distribute it across the jacket/bag or any other pouch you might be carrying so you dont end up loosing all of it at one go.
Very very important video for all travellers to Paris. We went to Paris last month and encountered a number of scammers like sign the petition, friendship band one. In Montmartre, A guy engaged us in conversation and held my husband's hand and started tying something. We had to scold him to get rid of whatever he was trying to do. The local people like the bus driver was warning us to be careful with the mobile phones from pickpockets 😄
Thanks for showing other side of Europe's "famous" cities. Indians show off saying they went to europe for travel and never share the dark side. While reading the comments and people's experiences, i feel Australia and New Zealand are best for tourist.
😀 We too faced Petition Scam. Another Pickpocket incident: We were noticeably touristy (carrying a camera, big bulky backpacks, etc.) got off at Gare de l'Est international train station and were getting into the metro. (Gare de l'Est is one of the big stations where long-distance trains arrive in Paris). While mounting the metro at Gare de l'Est, 1 person was blocking my way to enter it while 2 people trying to get on the train behind me, basically to pickpocket. In my case, as I was carrying a baby carrier in front and a backpack in the back, I was saved but my father was their next target. Thankfully my father's Mumbai Local Train instinct kicked in and he felt that someone touching him and my father shouted, immediately all three got off the train 😅 Mumbaikar ka pocket marna mushkil hai re baba 😝
We went paris in January, 2022, we were aware about such pickpocket, snatching, friendship bands and all.. We were in Montmartre and there 3 boys came to tie friendship band in my husband's hand, but he told them to stay away. However the boys were almost ready to do arguments to keep us engaged, we didn't let them to do so, we just ignored them and walked away from the place. Fortunately no awaful incident happened to us 🙏
This rose scam happened with me in London as well.. A lady came to me and started giving blessings to me & offered rose(I thought it’s because I’m pregnant) & then she asked cash. Luckily I don’t carry my wallet with me and didn’t have any cash so I gave rose back to her, she was so furious 😀
Having travelled extensively in Europe and having witnessed scams myself, the elaborate video made by you is an eye opener for me as well. Big benefit for first time travellers.
I am not from the Hindi speaking world but I have developed skill to understand and speak fluently. May not apply to all. Would be better if you could have translated in English as well, specifically such informative videos.
A very demanding video for travelers to Paris. We were extremely careful while taking metro and train journey in Paris. The fun part was we even did that for couple of days after coming back to our city.
It happend to me in Madrid, Spain, I was sitting in one of the restaurant in Plaza Mayor, I took some picture of my wife and daughter than I kept the SLR Camera next empty chair, it was table with four chair, one person came and he started looking under my wife chair, I asked him what are you looking and he last his key here! while I am looking, another guy picked up my camera! by the time I noticed he is running ! I followed him, could not able to catch him!! after a while Petrol police came and I explain the incident, he told to me go to the police station for complain, when I went to police station I see at least 20-30 people are in the queue! they are all lost something, later I found out Spain has the highest thieves in the world!! I lost expensive camera and picture too!!
Yup, we are avid travelers too and were involved in few of these scams. One incident that particularly worth mentioning is the one that happened in Rome, Italy. Nothing like what I faced before. This was a well planned executed robbery I would say and targeted to people who travel with luggage. This happened in Regional train from Florence to Rome. I had two huge suitcases apart from carry-on small bags. My wife got up in the train and was finding luggage space which was full of course. The suitcase being heavy needed two people and I and another Italian gentleman helped me to take it inside the train. He insisted that we put it on the luggage rack above the chair car and I knew it will not fit, but he just dragged one end to try fit. So, I had to lift the other end too. My both hands were busy trying to tuck the bag which was impossible of course. At that time I felt hand in my pocket as if someone was trying to take my wallet. Quick instinct I grabbed the hand with my one hand and started shouting at the second guy. I then I realized the other guy was his partner too and they threatened me if I don't let him go. No one in the train helped. They just sat. My wife was screaming and asking me to let him go. Which I did. Nothing was lost and we were safe. Thank god.
We faced the worst situation in Paris. So we arrived to Paris from Zurich via Copenhagen. We landed in Paris and our luggage never arrived. We were in the same cloth for next two days with no clue about our luggage. Just Imagine!! The airport authorities at Paris assured the luggage would arrive at our hotel within few hours but that never happened. We kept tracing our luggage and couldn’t enjoy Paris at all. Fortunately my husband’s friend was in tourism department in Paris. And hence we got our luggage after two days. Chor jagah hain Paris bhaiyon!! 😂
In Barcelona we had a similar experience and it happened quite often. The clowns who were on the streets they will show their tricks and if you pay any attention to them then they would start asking for money. And eventually they will start quarrelling. So it's better to just walkthrough as rightly said by Megha. 🙏
Like mentioned scams in video there are many thieves active in trains, metros, Hop-on Hop-off buses as well. Like any other big cities tourists just needs to be extra careful. My sister in-law's 33,000/- rupees were stolen from her purse. She was so busy in taking pictures that thieves must have identify her as an easy target.
Thank you for sharing this. Once in Milan, we were searching for the platform from which our train had to leave for Paris. A 10-12 year girl offered us help and since we were getting late we agreed to follow her. Within a minute we reached and then she demanded for 5 euro. We offered her 2 but she wouldn't take it and by then we were surrounded by a gang of men abusing us. I just dropped 5 euro on the ground and ran away as fast as I could. This was in 2014
I was pit pocketed in Paris when I visited the famous church, this happened in 2005, this was my first abroad trip. Luckily I’m traveling with my friends who got me back home.
Well this vedio is kind of admonitory for the solo travelers or first timers.. i am perplexed with these crimes schemes.. now i have huge respect for India with such population.. we always thought these countries r super rich and stand high on any human development index but with such meagre population and great labour benefits...they r prompted to commit crimes.. it is definitely eye opening... PS. The most bizzare and shocking thing is people's testimonials ..
Yes you are right. We visited Paris in December 2021 Christmas time. Hotel manager alerted us by saying.be careful and keep mobile, wolet and other valuables carefully . Mam.thanks for sharing your experience s
Very useful video. Some scams faced by us in paris... - a girl asks for one euro donation n a sign on paper - a guy asked for change of money - most imp place to be careful while entering n exiting metros theifs pick pocket so fast that you can't react n metro door closes n you r on next stop.
There is one more fraud happens in money exchange houses, when you go to change your money to some street exchange houses , and when you ask the exchange rate , they tell you a very attractive exchange rate, however they will not tell you that they charge a fix transaction fee, and when you do the transaction they give u money after deducting the transaction fee, and they give you receipt, when you calculate the money you found it lesser, and as you got the receipt, you can not reverse the transaction....it happened with me...lol...be careful
We faced similar scam in Berlin .The gang were playing a game and they were offering some prize money .But we fell on their trap and lost money. They were in a gang of 5/6 people encouraging people to play .
Thanks for sharing very useful information.Keep sharing your travel experiences. Kindly mention the month while traveling in the video so that someone will get the idea regarding weather conditions of that destination.

Amazing video! Well explained. We've been in Paris for three years now and have seen almost all of these play out in front of us. Just adding one short advice to this based on our bad experience: While travelling in trains within Europe, never keep your handbag on the railing above the seats. Someone came and took our bag away (which had our passports!) from inside the train. We were sitting right there, he was so smooth. And by the time we realised, it was time for the train to move plus how do you look for a thug on a railway station. We've heard this has happened to many other people too. Highly recommend keeping the bag with money+documents on your person at all times! :)
@@varunshahvo-tv9854 Haha! Thankfully that situation did not arise. We were living in Paris so the Thalys, where our bag got stolen, just brought us back home. But if it happens to a tourist (which I believe happens often), the gurdwara situation is very plausible. Hehe
Thanks for the informative video. I'll be traveling to sophia antipolis, Nice soon for business trip. M planning to arrive Paris, stay for 1 day and then travel to Nice by TGV next day. Any specifics to know ahead please. Also, from where do the tourists book their tickets for TGV ? Is there a certified app like IRCTC in India? Anyone here who lives in Nice or Antibes ? Needed some information like is it convenient to commute daily to sophia antipolis and back from either Nice or Antibes? If yes, where should make a base - Nice or Antibes. Will be there for a week. Thanks

Wow passport lost....what u did
Lived in a gurudwara
@@varunshahvo-tv9854 Haha! Thankfully that situation did not arise. We were living in Paris so the Thalys, where our bag got stolen, just brought us back home. But if it happens to a tourist (which I believe happens often), the gurdwara situation is very plausible. Hehe
Very good and useful video

Thanks
