  • The 5 Tabernacle and Temple Square Organists perform the Finale from the William Tell Overture by Gioachino Rossini (1792-1868) and arranged by Richard Elliott. The organists are Richard Elliott (center), Andrew Unsworth (upper left), Brian Mathias (lower left), Linda Margetts (upper right), and Joseph Peeples (lower right), and were recorded on the historic Tabernacle Organ.
    This performance was first seen during the "Piping Up" Kick-off Concert for the "Piping Up: Organ Concerts on Temple Square" series. It was then shown during the presentation "Music for a Summer Evening: Celebrating 90 Years of Broadcasting."

    Only the very capable mind of Richard Elliot could arrange such a magnificent piece and not use relevant sheet music. Truly a genius with the King of Instruments and the Temple Square Organs never ever disappoint us. But of course we cannot forget the other very capable Organists who bring delight and glory with their performances on a regular basis. These Organists, like Richard Elliot, need no introduction, for the magnificence of their piece, the skill of their performance, and the dedication of their existence speaks volumes on their own.

    Gioachino Rossini, William Tell, Tonto, the Lone Ranger, my wonderful 3rd graders and I thank you for this most amazing piece of music! I used to play the entire piece for my kids and tell them they could have 5 minutes extra recess if they could tell what show it was the the theme to in 8 minutes. Of course Tonto and the Lone Ranger only ride in a little after the first 8 minutes. Oh, we had fun! Even Beethoven would love this piece, played magnificently by these 5 tabernacle organists.

    Wonderful addition to an outstanding virtual Mormon Tab Choir performance this afternoon, July 19. Loved the 5 organs doing William Tell. SO fun!!! Nice to see/hear the organists perform something this appealing - as well as the wonderful more serious pieces they always add to the broadcast. This special broadcast today was stunning. So grateful for the choir and their giving so generously of their time and talents - especially Mack Wilberg and all the 'crew' required to make this all happen.

    Notice that Richard Elliot was the only one who has no musical piece sheet in front of him while playing? What a brilliant organist he is using memory to play the organ perfectly. The Church must protect him and the other organists at all costs! 😄😄🙏🏻🙏🏻

Do more like this! Then make a CD of fanfares like this with 5 organs. The precision is amazing and a thanks to technology and your people who know how to implement it. MORE PLEASE

    wowwwww this is one of the callings that am interested in, all my wish is to be called as a ward organist one day but I feel so sad that up till now am still unable to play with both hands cause my left hand is giving me a tough time, out of anger I sold out my keyboard cause I was like maybe heavenly father doesn't want me to play organ in His church. But I will keep being proud of those that did what I couldn't do. so am proud of these wonderful brothers and sister, they are amazing.

But THIS. Five at once. And each playing their part, and on the same instrument at different recording times? OUTSTANDING!

    Love watching how the "generations" played. Maestro=memorized. Top & bottom left were sheet music and page turning. Bottom right tapped his tablet to turn his pages. Top right? I have no idea! I watched this twice and never saw her touch what looks like an electronic device, but how'd it automatically advance her display? no idea.
    and have to agree to the finesse of these performers doing this without headphones, metronomes, etc.

    • @MarshaWard
      @MarshaWard 4 года назад

      HazeKomp, after I viewed it several times, I think Linda Margetts' entire part fit onto her one-page tablet display, while that of Joseph Peeples was a two-page display, which doesn't make too much sense, unless he had the entire score visible.

    • @MarshaWard
      @MarshaWard 4 года назад

      Boris Wilson Creations, I saw at least two earbuds, worn by Andrew Unsworth and Brian Mathias on the left, and it's possibly Joseph Peeples on the right is wearing another hearing device, bluetooth, perhaps? EDIT: Ah yes! He IS wearing a regular earbud. I finally saw the cord in the earlier part, half hidden by his collar. It's pretty much invisible in the last part. END EDIT. There's no telling, with Linda Margetts' long hair, if she's using an earbud, too.
